What is this?
This ROM is completely stock FI25 ROM with rooted, busybox added and my latest Kobridge Tweak v3.6 SF included.
How to Flash?
Before flashing this ROM, be sure that you have a nandroid backup available or make a new nandroid backup. Flash this ROM at your own risk, I'm not responsible for anything!
The steps are same as other ROMs. You'll need a CWM recovery kernel to flash this ROM and after flashing this ROM, you will lose the CWM recovery kernel because this ROM replace the recovery kernel with stock FI25 kernel.
If you want to replace the current modem, you will need to flash the modem zip file also while flashing this ROM.
No Data Wipe - if you want to keep your current non-stock manually installed apps, do not wipe the data partition. You would be able to use your old configuration in most cases. I used this option to upgrade my rom from FI03 to FI25. No issues found. Titanium Backup always fails after the ROM upgrade. If this is your case, don't uninstall Titanium backup to avoid the further problems. Just reinstall it and over-write the existing one (this will solve the Titanium backup issue).
Data Wipe/Factory reset - it's also ok doing factory reset or wiping data partition using CWM recovery tool before flashing this ROM if you want to do a clean install. There's no reboot or force closing issue. You can use Calk's format all tool.
What if I want to use different Kobridge Tweak mode?
Based upon request, different mode zip files would be provided or you can download it from here.

Kobridge's Stock Bloatware Remover v1.03 (10-3-12)
Stock bloatware remover coming here - modified version of Calk's bare rom converter
If you think there's any other apps that most of users don't need, please let me know. I'm more than happy to add those apps in here.
How to flash - just like flashing the rom, flash zip file from CWM recovery.
You can flash this zip file just after flashing the rom or you can flash this zip file separately depending on your need.
Where you can find the removed apps
You can find the removed apps from /efs/Removed_Apps. To bring it back to your phone, move the apk file to /system/app folder and reboot.
Downlaod Kobridge's Bloatware Apps Remover Tool v1.03
Download it from Dev-Host
The below list is based on my need and you may have a different set of list.
Updates
I found that backup is not created properly based on the recovery kernel.
9-21-12 I finally was able to re-create the whole script to properly write the Removed_Apps folder. Depending on the recovery kernel and sdcard mounting option, Removed_Apps folder would be created on internal sdcard or external_sd.
9-24-12 Change the script to run much faster in most of cases.

I've never thought about the ascending ringtone before. If FI03 uses this methond, then I'll think about how I can remove it.

Great, its always been annoying to me. Calkulin always removed it in his roms. Just the choice would be cool. Gonna flash this and report findings later. Thanks for all you do to make our device the best it can be.
Very nice....great job like always...going have to give this a spin, but no doubt it will be great

It's about a week or two since I tried this rom and so far I'm happy with this rom overall. Related to wifi bug - wifi turned on by itself, I've never seen that wifi turned on by itself. If you see the problem like that, it would be the wifi configuration or connections optimizer issue? Do you mind provide more details about wifi issue? I know that you slick4mitch has lots of knowledge about this rom and android. So, I worry about I think I missed what you are really talking about.

I have similar problems with WiFi. With me, I always turn the optimization off along with 3g and only have WiFi turn on when screen is on. After an extended period of standby WiFi will not start when the screen is active. I have to manually turn it off and back on. If the Sprint optimization is checked there is the 4g icon displayed but 4g is asleep and airplane mode has to be activated and de-activated to get the radio to come back on. I used the WiFi and no data for months on GB and it worked flawlessly. I could go for several days without charging if necessary.
I haven't ran this rom long enough to make a judgement but I have found the hands-free voice dialing doesn't function properly when screen is off. It appears to be a timing issue between the time WiFi or data becomes available for the voice dialing app. The app requires data or WiFi to be active before it works and it takes too long for the others to activate.

Like you said, it's the all combination of stock and sprint issues.
After an extended period of standby WiFi will not start when the screen is active - this could be considered as stock rom + wifi signal strength issue. Somewhat, this portion of wifi handling code needs to be changed by Samsung. If wifi signal is too weak or not stable, wifi won't be turned on back after the deep sleep. Like you mentioned, one alternative temp fix is manually turn it off and turn it on. One more option we need to think about is the wifi search interval.
If the Sprint optimization is checked there is the 4g icon displayed but 4g is asleep and airplane mode has to be activated and de-activated to get the radio to come back on - this needs to be handled by Sprint. Sprint is trying to provide better options to get better data connections. But still manual option is best bet yet.
I used the WiFi and no data for months on GB and it worked flawlessly. I could go for several days without charging if necessary. - it's same on ICS stock if you properly configured it. I have no issue using it for several days without charging it depending on the usage.

Done that but that defeats the battery conservation scheme due to the radio always polling for a signal when away from a familiar hotspot. Seems a wait state should be instituted to force voice dialing to wait for a connection to prevent it from failing. Now the incoming calls function as they should, just placing outgoing calls from standby is where the problems arise.
I should add this is an ICS issue, not solely with this rom. I know the Devs do an excellent job with what they have to work with. To be honest, and I hope I'm wrong, ICS will never rival GB EL29.
Awesome so far

Agreed totally. I think battery life will be outstanding with this rom.
Related
First Android phone, so I still getting up to speed so hoping someone could answer a couple quick questions. I'll start with the questions and then give the history.
1) How do you determine what ROM you have installed?
2) Any ideas why 4G won't connect? Is there any way to troubleshoot this?
3) Is there anyway to tether on 4G?
So I dove right in after purchasing this phone and flashed a ROM (Zedomax) so I could tether. After installing this ROM my battery life went down the drain and it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 6 hours.
So then I flashed the EG30 stock kernel and my battery life returned to normal. Still wanting to tether I tried another ROM (don't remember which one). This ROM had the same battery issues so I once again flashed the stock kernel back to my phone.
So now my battery life is great, but 4g won't connect (i'm in NYC) for a few days now. I've tried pulling battery, want what not to no success.
I believe I am running the stock kernel, but to my surprise I still have root access. No triangle on the home screen and ODIN says I'm using the Samsung Official binary.
Just to clarify, you are flashing kernels, not ROMs. Zedomax is a kernel, EG30 is a kernel, etc. You can find your current kernel version under Settings > About phone > Kernel version.
Also as an FYI, I wouldn't be going all willy nilly flashing kernels that you can't remember the name of. I'd have to imagine that's a good way to possibly brick your phone or have problems like you are with 4G.
I'm no expert on this stuff by any means but I'd probably recommend flashing Bubby's stock kernel or chris41g's version of it that is packaged up with CWM. These will get you back to the stock kernel (assuming you're not there already) and probably get your 4G working. Otherwise you probably need to update your PRL or something along those lines. Someone who actually knows more about this stuff (i.e. not me) may have a better suggestion for you.
Thanks.
Kernel version is 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435734
Is that stock?

Yep! 10 char
Cool.
So flashing to chris41g's or Bubby's kernels probably won't help me. I'll go searching to figure out how to update my PRL but if anyone has any other ideas I'd be grateful.
Also does anyone know if it is possible to tether over 4G? I was never able to connect unless I turned off 4g before tethering.
It is working again. I started over and flashed Stock-EG30.tar and all is good now.
Out of curiosity did you update your system profile after you flashed? I think it's recommended to do that every time you flash a new kernel.
Settings > About phone > System updates then choose update profile.
Edit - Ahh cool looks like you got it worked out. Cheers!
Nope, I never updated my system profile. That could of been a fix....
Interestingly enough, I was retracing my steps after going stock, after each step I checked 4G connectivity. I lost 4G after enabling AdAway. So I disabled (each change requires a reboot) and got 4G back after the boot. I enabled it again hoping to be able to isolate the issue but after that next reboot I got 4G access with AdAway enabled.
Can't say it is AdAway, but after toggling it, I got 4G back.
Help! My phone is freezing / locking up and rebooting several times a day now!
I successfully did the stock AT&T Jellybean update this week when it became available via Kies.
I had no issues with the initial upgrade…it seemed to go smooth.
After a day…or a few hours….I can’t remember…I did start noticing a few issues with Touch Wiz closing or freezing and some other apps misbehaving. I can’t even remember what exactly the issues were.
I was also having some other quirky issues with the phone on stock ICS before the JB update…so I have been meaning to do a factory reset and reinstall everything.
So with the phone being even more flakey with JB I went ahead and did a factory reset with my new JB setup.
After a few hours setting up the phone with all my apps, settings, etc I noticed two issues. Swiftkey would not remain selected as my default keyboard and AT&T Voicemail viewer would not retain any of my account settings after a reboot.
After some Googling I learned that this is a know issue with JB 4.1.1 for many apps…they don’t quite install properly and something happens during shutdown that causes the settings to be lost. The only work around seemed to be:
Root Phone
Install apps
Backup with Titanium or other backup program
Uninstall apps
Restore apps – then they somehow install properly and work
I did this…first time rooting the phone….and the root and work around worked perfectly first time.
But after continuing to install apps and tweak my phone the real problems have now begun.
The phone is completely freezing at random times…in any app or in the TW launcher. It seems to just sit there frozen until I hold down the power key long enough to force a reboot or take out the battery.
There are no force closes or other error messages and I have found no other pattern to the freezes.
So now the phone is almost totally useless. It may work for a few hours…or just a few minutes before locking up. Worse…I have no way to know this has happened if the phone is in my pocket.
I did another full factory reset using the Recovery Mode and reinstalled everything again and am having the same issues.
I fear the root somehow corrupted my phone or one of my apps is totally incompatible with JB but I have to many (~70) it will be very hard to tell which one.
The other issue I am having is the battery is draining in just 4-5 hours even with light use.
Coincidentally….4G LTE was just turned on in my area this week so that would be a factor in both the battery drain and maybe even the lockups. I have a Microcell at home…wondering if 4G LTE and my Microcell are not behaving.
There are just too many variables with a new ROM (JB), fresh rooting of the phone plus recovery app installed, plus 70+ apps, plus new 4G LTE, plus my Microcell.
I don’t know what to try next to get the phone stable or to get the battery use reasonable.
Please post any and all suggestions….
One thing I’d like to clear up or eliminate is the root issue…is there any way that is the cause of my phone’s current problems?
What a mess of a week! Instead of the total awesomeness of JB, 4G LTE, and the fresh experience of using a rooted phone...all happening for me in the same week...I get a total headache and useless phone. Sure hope I can dig my way out of this.
Thanks for reading my long post!
I'd say to flash stock rooted official jellybean from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625 i'd then do a Hard Factory reset *2767*3855# then you can install apps that are compatible with jb but not the app data and see how the phone is. also, for signal issues, try using a different modem located herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898

Thanks for the ideas....had not heard of the "Hard Factory reset *2767*3855#"....how is that different from a factory restet initiated from winthing Android or from the recovery program?
Also - is there any quick / easy way to know which of my apps are supposed to be compatible with JB?
Sure will be a pain to reconfigure everything again.
Should I be safe installing my apps via Titanium backup restores? (as long as I don't restore data)
Also - what about restoring my IMs and call logs from Kies? Is that safe?

Nope....juice defender...
And my phone doesn't really seem to be rebooting....just freezing up. I have to force it to reboot by holding down the power button for 10 seconds.
About to try a fresh factory ROM install (pre-rooted) and a hard factory reset.
Then I'll add my apps back very slowly to see....
What a pain in the you know what!

Well...I did all that...and no luck. Still freezing up.
I could not actually do the exact *2767*3855# reset...the phone would not respond to that command. So I used CWM to format the SDCard and also did a factory reset there.
Reinstalled my apps carefully and without data restore...boom....phone is locking up all the time again after maybe 12 hours of good operation.
Either this build of JB is not working on my phone or it somehow got fubar'ed during that first upgrade.
My plan now is to restore to factory ICS un-rooted....reset the flash counter if possible....and return the phone under warranty if possible.
Any recommendations for this?

HELP!!!! Please!!!!!
I did a warranty RMA and got a new (refurbed) phone from AT&T. I set it up with stock ICS and it seemed to work fine. I installed CWM without rooting via ODIN and did a Nandroid backup. I then used CWM to load TWRP recovery and did a backup with that.
Then I loaded the stock JB room with root. Tweaked the phone and app settings a little and things seemed to be fine for 1/2 a day. I reinstalled TWRP since the ROM flash replaced it with stock recovery. Things still seemed fine.
So...with JB rooted and seeming to work fine....I booted into Recovery (TWRP) and did a fresh Nandroid backup since the phone was finally all configured and working (apparently).
Well after rebooting from the backup...the phone is acting all crazy again. It seemed to crash my home WiFi network....had to reboot my router. Now the phone freezes or locks up any time I disable WiFi or change WiFi settings.
I am just cursed with the GS3!
Two separate phones with stock AT&T JB with root...one running CWM Touch and the new one running TWRP and both lock up or freeze all the time.
Should I give up and try custom ROMs? Give up on rooting?
I want TouchWiz for SBeam and some of the Samsung apps that I like better than stock...would rather just stay stock with Root.
What can I do to get this phone stabilized with root and JB???
Just did another test...
If I leave my house and walk a couple hundred yards away...as soon as the phone finally loses the WiFi signal and disconnects it locks up.
Seems like all my issues (with first phone maybe too) are tied to WiFi.
Is no one else having WiFi issues with JB? Could it be tied to rooting somehow? For instance...maybe the stock rooted ROM has different modem or WiFi drivers...or different kernel than the actual stock JB ROM I first used via Kies update?

I've got the KIES JB Update, & rooted. I am not experiencing any of the issues your having. It might be helpful if you could post a list of apps & widgets that you have installed, If you have frozen or removed stock files.
It sounds like you may be experiencing some app conflict issues.

Having the exact same problems as you. Please help. I'm also considering giving the phone back at Best Buy and having them give me a new one with ICS and leaving ICS on there. My steps are very simple. I had the stock ICS ROM from AT&T and I used Kies to upgrade to stock JB. That's it, nothing else, no rooting, nothing.
I am seeing exactly the same behavior, when wifi switches to 4G or even sometimes when bluetooth comes on, etc I will see the lockup and hang. Have to hold down power button to restart. But I don't think this is completely the issue, because even if I turn off wifi, bluetooth and only leave on 4G, then I still will see random reboots, but a lot lot less frequent. Also, I have always had 4G and I see the battery only lasting 4-6 hrs, so I think this is normal with 4G. I saw this even with ICS.
I have not done any factory reset or anything - I would assume if you use the Kies s/w to update and it leaves your files and apps on there, then it should just work. But I will try the factory reset once I backup my contacts, etc.
I'm a little shocked that people are having this problem with a newly released ROM.

After several re-flashes to stock JB with root and still more freezing with WiFi, etc....I gave up and loaded a custom ROM this morning.
I'm running BlackJelly...and after about 8 hours it seems be be running great so far. It is TW JB-based...and having very few issues with it. Battery is poor but it takes a few days of charging and use I guess to get the battery / phone / ROM calibrated. AT&T Visual Voicemail is not working and the phone shows H instead of 4G LTE...but I'm sure I can fix those issues by searching through the hundreds of thread pages on that ROM is this forum.
Give it a try before you switch to ICS or trade in the phone. You can always flash back to stock un-rooted and use Triangle Away to reset flash counter.
Good luck!
Still stuck with crashing phone!

Well...after over a week of trying it out....BlackJelly did not help me. Still had freezes / lock-ups.
I can't tell if the phone is re-booting itself or just re-launching the Launcher (I us Nova but tried stock and Apex too). The phone appears to re-boot on it's own but the up-time under status would not reset...making it seem like not a re-boot but a launcher reload or something. Pretty much same issues as with stock JB.
So I gave up and tried CM10.1 nightlies....and wow....crashing all the time now. Whereas stock JB and BlackJelly seemed to crash when I left my home or left any WiFi network or even just when I disabled WiFi while connected....CM10.1 crashes all the time while at home seemingly at random. I can get 5 hours of great use...then have it crash 5 times in an hour. Seems to crash a lot in the settings menus.
This is with my second (replacement) phone. I am just cursed!
How do I effectively use a LogCat app or something to find out what apps or services or whatever are crashing my phone? Help!
Read through this whole thread and no where did you ever mention clearing your cache. Clear your system cache/davlik cache and reboot.

Sorry...should have mentioned that. I've cleared the system and davlik cache many times...before and after flashing. I've done full system wipes / resets, formatted my SD card...everything I can think of.
I either have a rouge app that I seem to install right away after clean flashes....or a rouge Wifi router in my house that messes up my phone even when I leave and use other networks...or a rouge ATT&T microcell that does the same....or a rogue LTE area in West Michigan....
Or a second bad phone sent from AT&T. But no form of JB seems to work for me no matter what. Guess I could run a clean install with no apps for several days...and then add in an app a day for the next 2+ months until I find the bad app...if that is even the case.
So bummed with this mess!

Interesting....that might be what I was experiencing....but I never thought that was it....did not notice that cause/effect.
I gave up and went back to stock / rooted ICS / TW...version LH9. Loaded it yesterday and have had 24 hours of great use...no issues.
I miss JB and Google Now...but at least my phone works!
I'm not sure for stock JB but on other ROMs, you could try changing your governor and scheduler.

When on CM10.1 I tried bumping the minimum CPU speed to 484 and 5xx (can't remember the actual numbers)....and the maximum CPU speed to to 14xx and 13xx (again, can't remember)....and this did not help.
Not sure if that is what you meant tho.
Anyway...I gave up and went back to rooted stock ICS (LH9) and the phone is working great. I've given up on JB for now. I will wait for a new major JB release from Samsung before I try again.
copy paste from gs3 verizon forum
Q: The phone keeps freezing when I go into landscape mode.
A: This has been covered many times in the thread, but to reiterate: If you are using the AOSP lockscreen you must disable "Ripple Effect" in Settings -> Lock Screen -> Lock Screen Options
Yep, yet another GPS issue.
I flashed a few JB roms with correct modems and all was well (had good GPS lock). Went back to ICS for the batti life. Flashed a new ICS modem, and ROM - no GPS lock. Flashed multiple ICS modems - no GPS lock. Used multiple "GPS fix" recommendations from XDA - no GPS lock. Flashed multiple ICS roms - no GPS lock. Flashed stock FF18 - no GPS lock with stock. Flashed stock FI27 - no GPS lock
Just wondering if it has something to do with going from JB than back to ICS??? or if anyone else has had issues coming from JB to ICS too?
I'm in the same boat and have really been working on this for a couple of weeks too. I've also tried every application and .conf mod there is. Tried going back to an ICS ROM too and got the same thing - no GPS except in Google maps.
What happens for me is that I can get what appears to be a good lock (ONLY with Google Maps and NOT any other of the 6 applications I've tried!) but then after some time I get the 'searching for GPS location' thingy. To stop this I have to long press on that notification/App Info then force close the UI. And of course loose my wallpaper. OR simply reboot.
It sucks 'cause' up till this point I"ve never really had any issues at all.
I'm going to make one last attempt over the next few days. Going to PC Odin EL29 stock rooted check GPS. Then PC Odin Stock FF18 again check GPS. Then PC Odin FL16 and check there too.
I suspect it has something to do with the /preload and partition changes with JB. I do know that TD just put up a new FormatAllX2 he's created for JB ROMs. That may help for tose of us moving between ROMs. I'll check that out first.
But I don't know yet.
Really don't like having to spend the whole day, or more restoring all my settings and stuff but I guess it's necessary now that I can't reliably use my navigation on which I actually depend.
Hopefully someone with way more knowledge can jump in.

Honestly I think it is something hardware related. I used to have a SGS1 and it had the same flaky GPS. Some fixes would work, most wouldn't but if they did they didn't last long and it would be back to the drawing board.

Tried the new JB format allx2----no luck
and i agree, may have something to do with the preload...have not tried going back to JB yet to see if GPS locks there...may try tonight
Full flash of JB with modem... No lock there now... Damn!
I've read that it's a hardware issue on a previous post. It's tough getting a GPS lock from JB to ICS. As well as ICS to ICS. Or JB to JB.
The only solution to this for me was Mobile Odin Kernel Flash EL26 safe recovery. While in recovery wipe cache x3s, wipe dalvik x3s, format user data x3s.
Then flash whatever you are looking for. Immediately open Maps. With 3G and GPS ON. Locate and lock.
Or simply get a nandroid of a working EL26 GB ROM and flash it before you flash the ROM you want even if it's a nan(GB)droid to nan(JB)droid.

Going to have to wait on the full EL26 till later this week. Or hopefully FL27 will drop and I'll try that.

running a rooted stock 4.1.2 rom, and for some reason the gps doesn't seem able to lock onto any satellites or even recognize any satellites. when running the 'GPS Test' and 'GPS Status' apps, there are 0 satellites in view, and 0 connected. the icon is in the status bar blinking eternally, searching for a gps singal.
so far i've tried (from various other people's solutions on other threads):
- tightening the screws on the back of the phone
- factory reset from twrp (to the rooted stock 4.1.2 rom) (wipe data/cache/dalvik cache)
- clearing data from Google Services Framework and Maps, uninstalling Maps updates, and then rebooting the phone.
- a gps fixing patch from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563226 (factory reset through settings + flash patch)
- removing and redownloading some a-gps files from within the GPS Status app.
- removing the battery for 30+ secs
im currently downloading a different rooted stock rom to see if it makes any difference, but not sure exactly what's wrong...
the gps icon is blinking in the status bar, which i read in other threads meant that the actually gps hardware isn't broken or anything. should i be sending the phone in for warranty?
Could it also have something to do with me not receiving the new google maps update yet? still hasn't shown up as an update in the play store for me..

edit: i don't use the gps that much, so i have no idea if this is a result of the current rom in using or not, but the gps worked fine when i first bought the phone. i have since then been on various AOSP roms before reverting back to a stock rooted rom, and gps worked on at least one of those AOSP roms as well (don't use the feature all that often so i can't say for sure if it worked for all the aosp roms, but i did use it a few times with no issues).

This is the only method that worked for me. I had to go back to complete factory out of the box stock and then do a factory reset and wipe everything...only then did it show up.

Try this method. You have to be on a Stock ROM for it to work:
Easiest and most reliable way. Try this first!
Enter the Samsung service mode by typing this code into the dial pad *#197328640#
Then go to Mainmenu>UMTS>Common>NV REBUILD>NV REBUILD> (Important: don't exit the menu yet!)
Wait 30+ sec
Long press power button and select "Restart / Reboot"
Now check your GPS from any software that may use GPS like "Maps" or "GPS Status"...
All credit to harshaedvern for this easy fix
This has worked on a couple of phones that none of the other methods worked on. The problem begins when going back to a stock ROM after being on an AOSP ROM.

isdfoa - I know it has been a while but I would like to know if you have flashed any non Samsung ROMS since your last post? If so, did your GPS continue to work or did it quit working? Thanks
I've seen quite a few "flash back to stock, then flash AOSP" fixes to get your GPS working. All you have to do to really fix the GPS is:
1. Backup your stock ROM's EFS through your recovery. (Do NOT wipe prior to doing this.)
2. Wipe
3. Flash AOSP based ROM.
4. Restored your ROM's EFS through your recovery's advanced restore.
Done.

So, I am having a GPS issue that I've been unable to solve through any of the numerous method's posted around XDA (my primary source of all things android) and related sites. It could be a simple solution, but I've exhausted my very limited knowledge and am hoping you have some input or suggestion...
I'm on the LS970 and in an over-caffeinated moment, I fully wiped the stock ROM without a backup. I know that is totally stupid, and have been much more careful with my fingers since then. :silly: I have been unable to get a GPS lock on Spleef's Carbon 4.3 20131020 (or any previous), so tried to factory restore and TWRP flashed a ZV9 ODEX (failed install), ZV7 STOCK (failed install) and SPR-ZVB which flashed successfully but gave me FCs and reboots everytime I opened an app that would get a GPS lock. I have tried the FasterGPS, GPS Status and Toolbox, and edited my GPS.conf. Since I can't get back to factory, I need another way to get to a "factory-enough" for a GPS lock...
Any ideas? I think maybe there's a path/process to follow to be able to go from AOSP to stock that I'm not doing, but I have no idea what it is.
Fingers Crossed!
I was having the same issue with Bean Stalk then carbon also. using the app GPS essentials it would show 0 satellites in the sky even though GPS was enabled.
I flashed the Optimized ROM in the DEV section and this did bring back the GPS functionality.
just an FYI since your stock ROM is gone.

You have SAVED MY WORLD!! HUURAAAAYYYYY!!!!!! :highfive:
The OpTimized ROM was PERFECT in bringing back my GPS, it locked in seconds. It took me a few tries to get it active on Carbon4.3, so I'm going to give my "steps" for successful completion.
I FULL WIPED before flashing OpTimuS_V4.4 (ODEX) - that's Data, System, Dalvik and Cache. (Obvious? I first ran a full TWRP Backup of the system, data, boot)
Then I flashed, booted, and let it go through its process. It took its own "soft reboot" which I thought would turn "Bootloop" but it did NOT... rebooting to the "Semi Stock OpTimuS" perfectly. It did the "Activate" process on its own.
Then - I went to System Updates. PRL first, then Profile. Then the VITAL UPDATES were Google Maps and Play Services.
After this, I rebooted to let it reacquaint, and then installed FasterGPS, using it to clear the current aGPS. Next, installed FreeGee.
Opening the updated Google Maps, I IMMEDIATELY got the lock, but let it sit for 5 minutes. (reset "display time" to 5 minutes to keep track.)
Next - AFTER the GPS locking for 5 minutes, I did a backup of EFS with FreeGee. If you have PREVIOUS BACKUPS on the Internal Storage, they need to be replaced. This can be easily done with ES File Explorer, or any which allow root access. Go to the active (sdcard on LS970) FreeGee, copy the EFS settings, and replace those in the "/0" or Legacy FreeGee folder.
This may be "overkill" but I went back into Google Maps, got a Lock again, let it sit a few minutes and "tested" the navigation function.
While still in Maps, I powered down. Booting into Recovery (I use TWRP), I ran a RESTORE of my TWRP Backup, since the backups aren't "install" compatible. My fear was the "Restore" would override my updates, but when you run it, just "uncheck" EFS in the restore choices and you're :good:.
My LS970 booted up LOVELY, ran its normal boot process, and when I opened Google Maps .... ~*Aaaaaaaahhhhhh~* light from the Heavens! It locked FAST, and the Nav even worked!!
I have been trying to find this Fix for almost TWO MONTHS so I am on Cloud 9 right now!! Thank You @etownguy!!!
GPS locking issue
Hello all,
I am an intermediate novice at flashing, but Ive gained some knowledge over the recent years here and there. Heres the issue, I am running into the same issue as euphoric fuzion except I have exhausted all that I know. I rooted, unlocked bootloader and flashed my ls970 without creating an official Rom backup or backing up my EFS- I know, not bright of me. After using my new roms I realized that MY GPS isnt locking. So, Ive done everything from writing new NPS locations in gps.conf, attempting to go back to stock via LGNPST-Ive used the auto option, Flash tool and they dont seem to recognize my phone via download mode but the drivers are installed-pc recognizes. One flash tool actually recognizes my phone as another model. Ive tried to flash stock based Roms-one ins particular at no suceess-symlink failure. Attempted to flash ZVC stock based Rom with Firmware flash- the phone remains in bootloop from my previous ROM. In order to use the phone I have to reinstall CM11- my fav for now- but I cannot lock my GPS with out SPrints PRL update, or network update for my profile. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
