[Q] JB ROM glitch and Google Music - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I've run several different JB Roms but they all have a tendency to either reboot or refuse to turn on from sleep. It's not my power button (looked a thread where the person couldn't get their phone from sleep and it was a power button issue) because I can use the button to do a hard reboot. At times the ROM will simply stop. I'll be listening to music and the music stops playing and I can't get it to respond or I'll be in my app drawer and it won't change pages. Also, (and I'm not sure if they are related) Google Music will play music but will stop playing a song halfway through and start the next song.
I've wiped the cache and dalvic cache, fixed permissions made a nandroid and restored it and flashed new roms with a full wipe. That will fix the issue for a day or so but then the problems return and I'm starting to get a tad annoyed. Is this kernel related or is it possibly hardware related?

I, too, washaving issues with Google Music fetching songs while running the latest AOKP. However, the problem seems to have stopped with the official release of AOKP JB last week.
RR and SOD, like you described, are issues I'm still having though. They've gotten a lot better since last week. I've heard adjusting your CPU governor settings can help with the SOD.

Strange repeat issue about Google Music

Whenever I play anything in the Google music app, the songs/playlist will repeat themselves despite having the repeat toggle off. I realize that if I turn shuffle off as well (i.e. both repeat and shuffle are off) then the songs will not repeat.
It is extremely annoying and after some searches it looks like it should have been fixed in earlier version of the app, but its still happen to me for some reason.
My setup: AOKP M3 + Trinity + latest market version of the app. I've tried reinstall / wipe / new rom / new kernel and none helped.

Camera Freezing

Whenever I load up any app that involves the camera about 3-8 seconds in the application my phone freezes, cannot go to homescreen, menu and back button vibrations stop.
I am currently on 10/21 AOKP and it's been happening ever since I can remember like 9/14 or 8/14 of CM10 Preview.

Have you returned to stock to verify it isn't hardware related?
I have had a few small glitches on AOKP, but they have all been resolved by doing a FULL wipe. I use CWM and have found that multiple wipes tend to be more effective along with formatting /system and /data.
Bump .

Flashed 10/28 task ROM today. Camera didn't work. Searched. Saw that some had suggested simply rebooting. Worked for me.
I too have this issue with my camera app.
Tried a different one from the play store as well.
Tried not restoring apps from TB.
After I do a fresh rom flash, the camera seems to work flawlessly for around a day with some reboots in between.
Then after said time, I go to try it and it locks the phone up which I then have to do a hard reboot.
I've noticed this since the October AOKP releases, Paranoid and just tried the latest SLIM BEAN rom which are all built off of AOKP and CM so I wonder if its an AOKP issue for select (unlucky) users.
I've been trying to narrow it down as to when it happens or what changes, but so far its hard to pinpoint.
I suppose my next try would be to see if CM does it then perhaps that would indicate that its a AOKP issue

Music App Crash and Burn

I'm having a little issu. Yesterday I flashed CM10 and had everything set up and all was good. I listened to music without a problem. This morning, on my way to school, I was using poweramp (as I do on a daily basis) to listen to music. After class, i decided to run poweramp and i noted that it would attempt to open but then i would get kicked back to my home screen. So i decided to use Apollo (which im not much of a fan of but I was glad I kept it). I came home and I immediately Got rid of CM10 and went with Stock based ROM. installed everything as usual but I'm still having the same problem. This time, I uninstalled the app (cleared data and cache), rebooted, installed again and the same thing was happening. So i decided to download another popular music app (player pro) and it was doing the same thing. Can I get some tips on what the Issue may be please? I have uploaded images of both of the apps stalling before I was kicked back to my home screen. And I also did a logcat but compared to other logcats that I've done, it seemed like information was missing. Ill upload another to make sure.
Edit: The logcat was not run in root mode. The following link has the good logcat. if you start from bottom up, you'll get to the issue faster.

[Q] Google Play Crash and Call Issues

When I was on Custom Roms (CM, AOKP, PA) I had the following Problems:
Screen does not turn on after call
Random Reboots (especially during calls)
Device Getting Slow (Trim-Erase)
Sometimes takes long to wake up and show lockscreen
So I tried different Roms (As mentioned above) and used the lagfix app (even bought the pro version to shedule it for every day).
The Call Problem persisted but the other ones were first gone but reoccured after 1-2 Weeks of Usage.
So I went back to Stock (4.2.2).
After one week of usage I have again the following problems:
Random Reboots During call
Long Screen-Wake Times (especially when Navigation is on)
Google Play does not start, just crashes (And yes I tried to remove updates, clean cache and data...)
Any Idea whats wrong with my device?

[Q] Music Player issues since lollipop...

Hi all,
First time poster so please go easy on me..
Basically since the lollipop update (stock unbranded HTC M8) my stock HTC music player app has developed a rather annoying bug which involves the music song displaying its length completely wrong (please see attached pics). This causes the track to skip and jump to another track completely. It is very annoying!
It is not just with the HTC Music app either, I use a podcast app and the problem is also persists on that app too.
I have cleared caches, deleted and re-installed the podcast app. I don't know what to do apart from factory resetting the device hoping that will fix it.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Another one here with exactly the same problem. Unrooted, stock UK M8. Only happened since OTA update to Lollipop. Also noticed this (or very similar) issue appears to sometimes affect my Pocket Casts podcast app as well. The only time I've ever seen anything like this in the past was an old MP3 player I had that displayed incorrect times if music was encoded with variable bit rate. However all the music I have on my M8 is fixed bit rate so it's not that...
Does no one have any idea yet why this is happening or any suggestions for a fix? I've found that clearing the cache under Settings > Apps > All > Music can sometimes fix the issue temporarily. Soon comes back again though.
Ok this seems to have resolved it on my phone for now:
- Eject SD card (all my music is stored on SD)
- Go to Settings > Apps > All > Music > Clear Cache
- Go to Settings > Apps > All > Music Enhancer > Clear Cache
- Reinsert SD card
- Fully reboot phone by holding Power + Vol Up for 10 seconds
I'm still seeing a few isolated little glitches with some song times but they seem to be resolving themselves after a few goes, and the majority are currently displaying correctly.
Regarding the podcast side (using Pocket Casts app), I think I may have fixed this incidentally a few days ago when I moved my podcasts from using phone storage to SD. Taking this into account, it looks to be some kind of database corruption after the Lollipop upgrade, hopefully all ok after letting the phone rebuild its relevant media databases from scratch (I suspect a full factory reset would also fix it.) I wonder if the update included some kind of change to the MP3 decoding codec used which somehow misinterpreted the cached time info?
Same issue .. and lot of issues since lollipop
I did exactly like you said .. but I still get the same annoying bug .. and also there are many bugs after lollipop . like if you cleared recent apps and soundcloud was one , you see soundcloud's notification in the top left , when you slide it down , you see the latest song you have been playing , and it is frozen you can not clear it . and when you touch it , it opens again soundcloud .. you cannot fully close the app .. only if you did that in running Apps and force stop it .. EVEYTIME .. is that normal ? please help . and is it also possible to get back to Android kitkat ?!
I too have a similar issue... When playing, if I pause the song or audio book and exit the app, when reopening it forces the song or book to reset back to the beginning. Before it would resume from the place it was paused at.
Any ideas?
Audio messed up by lollipop

Does it play the full song inspite of showing the wrong length, or even the song's messed up ? A hard reset helps sometimes
Same problem here. Audios received by whatsapp have the same problem sometimes. I reverted to kitkat and the problem is gone, upgraded again to lollipop and problem is back. My music is on internal storage. Poweramp do not have this problem.
Hi,
I had same issue, it turned out that it appeared after turning off Nuplayer option in dev settings. When I turn it on again, as for now (2 days), works as expected.

i will try turning it back on to see if problem persists here.
EDIT:Turning nuplayer back on solved the problem. thanks.
I'll give that a try too. I can't remember why we turned off NuPlayer in the first place, but isn't there some other issue?
Guys the problem is caused by enabling dev options then turning it off
Just head into bev options and enable Nuplayer.it worked for me
Turning nuplayer on helps but than Messenger lags very often. Any solutions about that?
Thanks, turning on NuPlayer worked for me too !
