Is the message you're referring to on the computer screen, or the phone?
If the computer, you should try a different browser. If the phone, you use the volume buttons to choose the option, and the power button to confirm.

On the pc and I feel like an idiot for not trying a different browser lol

Root from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160511
simply dl, unzip to desktop, install other files on website, plug in phone "with usb debugging" and set to charge. Run Alpharevx and it will do all the work for you. It will also install Clockwork Recovery.
From there I did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160745
and after that simply install the ROM you want in the Dinc2 Android Dev section of this forum. I have used CM7 and MIUI 1.7.8. I was a CM fan but am really enjoying the MIUI interface and themes. You can DL Rom Manager from the market and have it DL and install the latest version of either one of these themes, or you can dl them from this site and install them manually.

It came with it preinstalled I read that much and when I saw that got a little frustrated

first thing to do when you're DInc2 arrives is check the software info. If you're still on Froyo, then you're golden, you can use a free software utility made by Alpharev X to S-OFF (bypass the digital signature that prevents unauthorized software installation). If it comes preinstalled with Gingerbread, you're boned; the only way to S-OFF is to use an XTC Clip which will cost you abit of cash. If you find yourself needing to go that route, PM me, I have an unused PAYG XTC Clip with 1 credit.
In came with gingerbread is there not a way to flash the froyo Rom like the fascinate if not I don't think ill root for a while in case I need to take my phone in

Rooting a new Dinc 2 with GB?

I see the thread that says there is no root for Gingerbread but I've seen other posts that say there is an experimental beta for root.
Can someone enlighten me?
I have a buddy with a INC 2 and looking to root it, but it has Gingerbread already loaded.
There's currently no software root. The only option is the XTC clip.
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
awww.. makes me sad.
will check back here in a few weeks, maybe some luck then
Yup.. no root for people who updated to GB or got it preloaded. Stock isn't horrible though. I haven't had any real problems except wanting a couple more features like abit louder speaker or stronger vibrate options.
You can always get an XTC clip to S-Off. So no, it's not impossible. It's just not free
Edit: sorry, Nasty, didn't read see you already mention it

I may be wrong, but I don't believe gingerbread has a known exploit yet, for any phone. So even if you get s off, I am not sure it will help because root is a whole different thing.

Well, you are wrong. AlphaRev and Unrevoked have implemented a GB root exploit for both the HTC Sensation and the HTC Evo 3D in the latest Revolutionary solution.
In Twitter land there has been some success with other HTC devices, but the Dinc2 is proving to be troublesome.
Actually, I am rollin' a Moto Droid X2 and they just released a rooted GB update before my phone allows OTA update. Root it up!

Must be a new exploit. Last I checked the only root path for phones with gingerbread was a rollback to froyo.

You rooted it when it had froyo though. It is easy to flash a pre rooted rom, op is asking for a way to root an already installed gb.

If you manage to s-off the phone I would think you could flash a custom recovery with fastboot and from there flash a rooted rom.

Revolutionary uses the same temp-root exploit as it did with alpharevx, which means, that temp-root exploit is patched in GB. So revolutionary only works on froyo Inc2s.

Why is he wrong? He said there's no GB root for the INC 2 but was pointing out to kingsway8605 that there is such a thing as a GB root.
Gingerbreak, it's been out for a while. But since Verizon likes to patch to OTA's and cover that exploit (Just like they did with the Droid X) Yes, it's proving to be rather difficult.

I reads kings post as gb on inc 2 doesn't have an exploit yet. Because if I remember correctly he made a comment about temp root on the 3d a while back. Either way no big deal

Don't update to new OTA if you want root

There is a rumoured new update coming out. Of you are rooted or want root please hold off as you might lose your root ability. Just a warning of friendly advice.

Edit: Dang its late. Sorry I can't spell. Glad that's not what the army paid me for. Lol
Yeah. I just got the phone today for my wife and it updated while it was charging before I could root it...which sucks since rooting it played a HUGE role in the decision to get this phone.
I'm guessing I could really break something if I just tried the unrevoked/alpharev/revolutionary approach regardless of the fact that I now have hboot 0.98 huh?

****, I was afraid of that. Now I wonder if I should try to return it and try again...damnit.
Is the update going to try and force itself or will it does it have to be a manual update?
Also, if you are running a custom rom will this still effect people, or just people running stock root?
Unless things are different from my Original Droid then custom roms don't need to worry about it since most of them have OTA updates turned off.

If it is a stock based Rom without OTA removed...then yes it prob will...and you will lose root...you can remove the update service yourself with a root explorer app

You will want to switch to a custom for sure. Was about to go to sleep for the night. I am still running my own stock debloat. I caught the ota pop up with the countdown clock. Luckily I was able to pull battery and flash bliss real fast.

I'm new to the Inc2, can I turn S-off somehow and then downgrade to the original hboot? Is that possible? Or is the Revolutionary method the only way to turn S-off?

If you take the ota to 2.3.4 kiss rooting goodbye.
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
For some reason the curious side of me wants to down load. Can't be that big oh a change. Right???
How long for the exploit on 2.3.4 since we already have 2.3.2 done.
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
My crystal ball says it will take 3 months and 9 days to find the next exploit, and 4 months 15 days for the next patch that kills it.
It seems that one of the biggest benefits of custom roms are freedom of forced updates. I guess this is the answer to all the people concerned about getting s-on for the event of a return.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
Wow, this thing pushes through without user consent? Holy crap am I glad I'm running CM7.
Just a thought - would users who have received the update against their will have the option of flashing the previously released gingerbread RUU? I'm guessing that even if they could, they'd still be stuck with the updated hboot and therefore unable to get s-off. I'm not really sure how all that works though. Anybody smarter than me have any thoughts?

The new OTA is pushed to your phone but it offers the option to accept, postpone or reject.
I am rooted (stock rom) and made the error of accepting. After the update my phone would not boot completely (erred with white triangle, yellow exclamation point, blue android). You can follow Conduitz's fix found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233267
NOOB Question
If I want the update and could wait for Root (have root now), how does one go about getting S-ON again? I used the alpharev method.
thanks in advance.

Need help rooting EVO Shift 4G!!

I tried to perm root it with one of those one click root apps and it didn't work at all so ya. I also tried temproot and that didn't work either. I really want to root because I hate the sense layout, and I would also like to know how to flash cyanogenmod and stuff because I am a total idiot when it comes to hacking. I'm running GB 2.3.4 and Sense 2.1 I think. Idk if that matters though.

Follow the steps here and you will be on your way to some fantastic ROM's.

Double checking on warranty issues with s-0ff.

I need to return my Dinc2 to Verizon for a replacement. I flashed the "return to stock" image from the very helpful post by Condemned Soul http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24854198 so now I am still s-off and the bootloader reads "Revolutionary" and s-off (see attached image). I read in posts that this is not an issue for Verizon and that they will not give me a hard time about a void warranty. I just want to verify this before I send the phone in as I am also cancelling my service with them.
Has anyone had a problem regarding warranty with returning a phone that is s-off to Verizon? Can I return it with S-off as I have read posted? I don't really want to risk bricking it changing to s-on.
Here is the state of the phone now:
Android version- 2.3.4
Software #- 5.10.605.9
Baseband- 20.32W.30.0813U_1.09.01.1111
I have attached a pic of the bootloader
Here
Thanks.

Security on/off. If you plan on doing any flashing this is one of the first things you need to learn about, after you learn how to use the search function
Coming from an optimus s that I learned to flash on, and going into a "root your s3"thread, then to a custom Rom thread, I never saw the terms mentioned. And I read them many times along with other Rom threads.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
This only my 3rd smart phone. I had the HTC Incredible and Inc 2 before. Maybe that LG doesn't use it.
S-ON/OFF is specific to HTC, it's their way of letting you use the HTCDev unlock to flash custom ROMs without unlocking everything, so theoretically it's harder to brick your phone.
