I used CWM and tripped the counter, triangle away made it 0 again. Although I never saw any actual triangle....

Same here. I never saw a triangle but I did have tripped counter. Just install triangle away after rooting and run it and you should be fine.

Well the kernel scources are out so it will not take that long anymore, also Mobile Odin Pro needs to be fixed as a flash from Mobile Odin seems to raise the binary counter atm, so be aware of that

Flashing what from mobile odin?
Flashing a stock rom doesn't increase the counter, flashing a custom part e.g. recovery will (and does on the s3 too)

Lenny as already posted, mobile odin pro raised my counter when flashing a pure stock unrooted rom (downloaded from sammobile) and that is the strange thing

I have the ATT Note 2 and installed an international 7105 Rom... Need to reset my counter. Is there a way I can get triangle away to work without having to revert back to stock first? get triangle away to accurately detect my device ID or something?

[Q] Triangle Away Still Counter 1

Model Number: GT-N7105T
Android Version: 4.1.2
Rooted using Method #1 on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032849
I purchased Triangle Away from Google Play. Tried to reset the counter from 1 to 0 but each time I go to Triangle Away there is no Current Status shown. I go back to the reset counter screen and the counter is still 1.
Can anyone tell me how to do this properly or is the counter supposed to be 1?
Thanks

Yes it will keep showing the count at 1 as long as you have a custom recovery. If you read the developers thread it has been mentioned that in order to keep bit at zero you'll need to go back to stock recovery and ROM.

But according to him, he have used CF auto root, so recovery should be stock only unless he flashed some extra custom stuff.
@xLeonardo
How you checking flash counter, with Triangle away? then it will show you 1
just put device in download mode and check what is there for custom binary download
If it is 'No' then your counter is alrady reset.
Also you need to reboot device once normally after using triangle away, then after 10 min check counter.
If still it is 1 then as above said by bushako, check your recovery and kernel both are stock.
I bought triangle away months ago, it used to work on my rooted device. But the last 1 or 2 update of samsung stock rom has rendered this app useless. Now my note2 stays as modified.
I guess the last firmware update has fixed the loophole this app is using.

Not really. Just a few days ago I tried triangle away with Samsung's stock ROM xxdmc3 and it successfully set it to Binary Count 0. Provided the recovery is stock. I didn't really buy triangle away, I just downloaded it from xda but I don't think it makes a difference as they are the same version.

@bushako
Agree
There is nothing wrong with application with any version, i think previous poster saying about status : modified not counter.
 @BratPAQ
if so, that is not a big issue, there is already some tricks are there, and last option wiping will reset to official.

Yeah I didn't flash anything else. Recovery is stock.
Yeah I've been checking with Triangle Away. Checked with download mode and it says No, so I'm guessing all is fine now.
Just wondering why on the Triangle Away app it doesn't show my current status?
Set Triangle Away to auto reset the counter at reboot and you should be good to go.

So I may be buying a S4 soon but I need help understanding how know works with the s4. I have the tmobile s3, and I was already rooted so have yet to upgrade to 4.3 bootloader. What do I do if I buy a 4.3 S4? will it be easy to root, unknox, etc? will I be gauranteed to lose warantee and not be able to return to factory conditions? All answers are appreciated, Thank you!

that guide was written before the 4.3 update, since then a knox counter has been implemented which cannot be reset and therefore will most likely void warranty...
Was just wondering if there is a way to avoid setting off that counter

Yes you're right about the Knox counter. Unfortunately there's no way to reset the counter right now. Beside those few things you can root and flash 4.3 custom Rom (cannot flash 4.2.2)

I guess my question is what if I buy a galaxy s4 with stock 4.3 updated via ota? When I root will I be automatically be stuck with a triggered knox counter or does rooting alone not affect the knox counter? Sorry for any misunderstanding.

As far as I know, rooting DOES trip the knox counter. If you can find one that's still on 4.2.2 (MDL or MDB) I'd go with that one. At least with one that's still on 4.2.2 you can reset the flash counter (knox counter is irrelevant on the m919 on pre-4.3 official) and still have the freedom to use 4.2.2 ROMs if you so desired.

[Q] Is it possible to get back to a Complete Factory state (with no counters tripped)

My Phone is the N7105 NOT the N7100, I find it incredibly irritating and hard to find the right information having these two phones merged into one forum. Is it possible to get my phone which is on android 4.3 back to a complete factory state with no counters tripped so I can send it in for warranty. I currently have 7 binary counts and 1 knox count. A simple yes it can be and a link to a thread that can help with my device would be useful.
I have tried using Philz recover and auto CF and methods along those lines but they do not seem to be working for me.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help, it is much appreciated.
You can turn back the binary count with triangle away, knox count no.
Afiak you can reset the binary counter but at the moment there is no way to reset knox or downgrade the bootloader on the n7105 yet. Dr Ketan is your best bet for help
Sent from my GT-N7105 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
well that sucks as my knox counter was 0, then tired to downgrade to so I could root n reset the binary counter (i have no idea of my logic there) and obviously tripped the knox counter. So I could of used triangle away on 4.3 and not tripped the knox counter>?
I think so. Triangle away works on 4.3 now I'm pretty sure. I'd try asking Dr Ketan for advice. You can change the bootloader on nearly every other variant so it must be possible on the n7105. Just need someone to figure it out. I've been trying to do a wifi patch for the n7105 but it's bootloader is different to most other versions
