*copy the file onto the internal sd card /
*using a terminal emulator type
Su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
reboot recovery

Times infinity said that this method works on this leak because of how the kernel was and it allowed us to use adb or recovery to push the root zip.

Is it possible to flash twrp through my phone without using a pc? How can I do it?
Sent from my SGH-T999V using xda app-developers app
You can flash it through recovery, if you already have a custom recovery. If you do not, the only other way is Mobile ODIN (from the Play Store), and you need to be rooted for that to work.
If your phone is already rooted, install the Goo Manager app from the PlayStore and select Install OpenRecovery Script from its menu. That will download and flash TWRP. Be sure Goo is granted root access.

It should automatically search for the recovery intended for the phone, which in this case is the d2tmo. Can you provide a screenshot of exactly what is being displayed?

Hmm, interesting. If you are 100% ABSOLUTELY sure your phone is a Tmobile T999 phone, then I would follow the alternative installation instructions on TWRP's website for the d2tmo version.

Just for the record, the d2 recoveries are interchangeable to the best of my knowledge. They all go to the same partition, so no bricks. However, if you don't get the proper one, no assert checks will pass.

You don't need a computer to get root, it's not a requirement.
You need to download an app from the play store called Mobile Odin, with that you
can odin flash the required file to get root as well as flash the required cwm zip file
which is required to get root in the galaxy S4.
Thank you.

Yes, i'm pretty sure you're gonna need a computer to root. I don't even think mobile odin is compatible with our phone yet. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
The other guy is high, you need to be rooted to use mobile Odin, there is no way of rooting this phone without a computer, sucks I know.

Hello, I recently rooted my Galaxy SIII and ran into what I believe to be a problem. I flashed cwm with odin and then rooted via cwm install. It worked fine in stock ROM, so I went to CyanogenMod 10.2. Now my phone shows I do not have root access. Help anyone? Screenshots here:

You shouldn't have to, if a root doesn't take or work it would just fail but not brick or soft brick phone...Can anyone else confirm this ?
OK I'm trying to go back since in returning the phone back to sprint and it won't let me on twrp when I try to install it it just says fail!
What exactly are you trying to flash in recovery?
I was trying to return to stock so I got cnexus deodex rooted mk3 stock ROM and twrp won't install it it just says failed and I tried clockwork and it aborts then when I went back to twrp and tried to restore my nandroid it won't restore the data it would fail and I could only rainfall pacman and yeah

They're gonna see that it's rooted if you're taking it in for fixing, but TWRP is known to have problems with non-AOSP ROMs... That's the main reason I don't use it.
