The texture you get with many wet application screen protectors.
http://www.google.ca/search?q=scree...A&biw=1619&bih=959&sei=RyRXUKSZF6rj0QG_kYCQBw

bumpy looking surface, like the surface of an orange. The soft application screen protectors tend to do this, but offer a greater protection in most cases

It means never buy a zaggshield cause that's what it will look and feel like

Sounds like an installation problem to me.

Xtream guardz screen protector for like $6 has almost no orange peel yet its better than most wet protector including the zagg, I also didn't wait for it to dry and it didn't mess it up at all

Nope, had one on my epic4gtouch, and I put it on without an air bubble or follicle of hair underneath. Looked just fine, but when light shined on it, you could see the orange peel effect and even the slightest touch of a fingernail.

My Zagg feels as smooth as glass. I do see the affect you mean, but I think the complaints are people being a bit petty. Zagg is a great product, and this "issue" has never bothered me. My screen still looks beautiful to me.
Sent from my AOSP Android 4.1.1 Galaxy Nexus.

IMO, I can't stand water applied screen protectors, even if they don't have the orange peel effect, I can still feel the rubbery sensation. This is the reason I go with the dry applied screen protectors, I'm currently using SGPs.

You're suppose to wipe off all the liquid on the side you touch before it dries. You wet that side so it isn't scratched or scraped when using the rubber applier. If you wipe it all off you don't get the rubber feel on the protector.

I have orange peel on my XO skin, it was my first wet skin so could be the way I installed it, but I still like the protector

They are pretty good, but take a look @ Best Skins Ever. They are pretty much the same protectors @ rock bottom prices.
Look into Clearplex. They they should be known a lot more amongst people. Its just better than an over rated zagg (not hatin, just sayin).

And the ZAGG HD is NOT like the original ZAGG.. This thing is beautiful. My sister was playing with my phone and told me to get a screen protector for it lol.. She said the screen felt natural and she couldn't feel or see the screen protector..
Mind you side by side you can tell..

Problems with Zagg
I am on to my second Zagg screen protector and it is still not right. I got both installed by Zagg at the mall. They looked great for a couple weeks but then look like they have snags in them. Am I just really hard on my phone or is anyone else having this issue?

The best way I've found to install the screen protectors is by spraying the phones screen, then spray the top of the shield, your fingers, peel it off the backing, and then spray the adhesive side of the shield. It'll give you plenty of liquid to position the shield and since your fingers are wet it won't stick to you/leave your fingerprint on the screen. When using the squeegee on the HD shield spray that as well and use very short strokes starting from the center working your way out. They're thicker then the regular ones and can get very small bubbles under them that are hard to get out without causing a run in the shield.

me too. love it
I have a Zagg HD on mine and hate it.
That being said it is the best protector I have tried, and have ended up using Zagg protectors on my s1, s2, s3, tab 8.9, tab 10.1, and nexus 7.
I hate the plasticy feel, the orange peel, and the fact I rarely have one make it longer than 4 or 5 months before needing replacement.
Again on the plus I have never had a single question or problem when getting it replaced.
My verdict is this;
I hate screen protectors, but they are nessessary. Zagg makes one of the, if not the best one out there, their customer service and product support is excellent.

Yes for a month or 2. I have so many indentions in mine it is driving me crazy. Going to the glas.t.

Zagg HD and the Note 2

I installed the Zagg HD screen protector on my new Note 2 yesterday, and I will tell you it should not have been cleared for use with the Note 2. It is so soft that it feels like it's ribbed from using swype with the S-Pen... and I don't press hard at all. What's worse, it's effecting the accuracy of the S-Pen itself, as I find I need to press harder. I would not recommend this screen protector for use with our amazing device. Really looking like I might have to go naked unless I can find a very S-Pen friendly protector!
PS
Best Buy Mobile offered to exchange the protector for me and install it tomorrow, an offer which I am going to accept and deal with until I find the best alternative.
I have the extreme guard $4 body and screen. Everything works flawless.

I made the mistake of believing the saleslady at Best Buy Mobile that the new Zagg HD was just fine with the S-Pen... first mistake. I have a Rearth screen protector waiting for me at home once I return from this business trip... but ya, I am looking forward to the upcoming Glas protector as well. Any word on it's release date?
I was on the same boat I bought the rubber screen.. shouldve posted a warning but got lazy :/
And I asked sgp and all they said so far was that it was a wip... and blah blahs
The glass protector is the best doe cause it feels as it were naked <3
But ill make a thread when I hear about the protector

Whos using with no screen protector

So I was wondering if Amy of you use this phone with no screen protector and how the screen looks after x amount of time with normal use?

I have had my phone for about 8 months and never had a screen protector on it.. I can't detect one single scratch..
Same here. I don't like screen protectors. I've had this phone 7-12 months now and while my silver rim has scuffs on it, my screen is immaculate. No hairline scratches. It's absolutely mint. I have an OCD with my device screens though. There's always an LCD screen cleaner and microfiber cloth within arms reach of me. I really, really hate dirty mucked up screens lol

same here, ive had mine just about a year now. the bezel has some nicks in it.. but even a screen protector wont prevent that. I even ditched my case after about a week or so.. its much less bulky then
Yea my silver part is wearing down a little from the case I'm using. I've been debating not using a screen protector. I have one left, i just get tired of them scratching up and dulling the screen. Then on look at my kindle (I know it has gorrila glass) with no case or screen protection and its amazingly clean. And clear. I'm always on the fence about it

I have used screen protectors before for this phone and been without for a while too. And to tell you the truth only when I have a screen protector you can see scratches from everyday use and from my jeans pockets. And when its without I dont see one single scratch
Not bad
I used mine for about a month without a screen protector. I just got Zagg, and I like the feel a lot better.

I've had my Hercules without a protector for near a year. The screen is pristine, no scratches! I love the glass used on this phone. It can get oily but nothing a microfiber cloth can't wipe clean.
I've had the phone since February with no screen protector. Finally dropped it 2 weeks ago, went skidding face down about 3 feet across an asphalt lot. The bezel is scratched up pretty good, but the glass has no scratches at all.
I generally don't use a screen protector but with this phone I decided to. My HTC Glacier I didn't use one and after a year it had no scratches. The reason I did use one with this phone is to retain its value so I can resell and get a better phone when I get sick of it.
Sand scratches the glass so don't think its 100% safe to go without one.
I just put my last screen protector on here. I got a hair scratch down where the hardware keys are. I used to use those cut to fit ones and they would never cover those buttons. Now the one I have is fitted. I probably won't buy any more

Matte vs clear

What is best looking and better performing screen protector for the nexus?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Clear is better IMO. Matte has a papery texture to it.
Matte also ruins the beauty of the screen by giving everything this hazy look almost like there's oil on the screen.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Better looking: clear
Better performing: depends. Matte will give you a smooth touch. Clear would be almost the same as the screen without protection.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Matte coz my hand is always sweaty.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
i choose clear because of sweaty hands leave lots of finger prints.
have also tried matte but in the end it feels like perma finger prints that i just cant wipe off.
Imo, it depends on what is your intention of using screen protector. If it's to protect screen, i think you don't need it as the glass itself is hard and anything that will scratch it will just pass through the plastic protector.
Matte has a function of antifinger print but using one will ruin the quality of the display.
I have used both clear and matte but i decided to remove them and stayed in bare screen. I have been using my phone for months without any protector in my pocket and the screen is scratchless.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Well, back on topic, I prefer the matte myself, same as the reasons listed before.
Seems like it is less prone to fingerprints, and when I do get them they wipe off easier. Also, my finger seems to glide across the screen better.
On the downside, it definitely affects the quality of the image on screen.
I've used them both and both have pros and cons.
Matte:
- no fingerprints.
- in some cases depending on the quality of the protector you need to increase the brightness of the screen to make it look good.
Clear:
- fingerprint magnet.
- scratches are noticeable.
- the screen looks simply amazing (and this is the reason why I prefer the clear one even if it has to be replaced more often)

I'll drop a new option. Ghost Armor. The clearest screen protector I've ever seen and it doesn't show fingerprints and can be wiped clean with a shirt. Also very durable.
Also this should be in the accessories thread.

No. They have a new "hd" material that is almost invisible. Takes a couple days to mold completely though. Once it does its barely there.

Easily. I get it on all my devices. If anything happens to it you can go to any Ghost Armor stores and for $5 they'll replace it.

Screen Protectors! Why do you use them?

s3s have gorilla glass screens I thought and they have protection to scratches but I see lots of people using these screen protectors. Why do people buying it? OR may I wrong?
Scratch resistant isn't the same as scratch proof.
I've always used protection on my touchscreen devices and don't encounter any functional differences.
All it takes...
My last daily driver had gorilla glass, as does my new S3. I'll be using a protector on my new one as soon as I can get one. I went without for the second half of my last phone's life. Granted, I had no shattering, cracking, or other screen failure, but I definitely acquired a few scratches.
After that first scratch, you'll never look at that screen the same again. All it takes is one fall or one coin or key in a pocket. I like having Gorilla Glass as an extra layer of protection, but it doesn't negate the necessity of redundancy when it comes to protection.
There's a huge thread on this. Can't remember the title tho

I honestly love my screen to be naked. I just take extremely good care of my phone. The scratches on my screen are very minimal. They are small from sand in my pocket and such. Never dropped the phone since I got it about 6 months ago.
Phone always has a dedicated pocket and I don't put anything else in there. I occasionally use a case, but not too often, though when I use my ZeroLemon 7000mah the case is of course on. Still no Screen Protector. Nothing beats the feel of glass.

I had one of the glass screen protectors and loved it but I broke it. You can get them on eBay for less than $10 now and they are well worth it. I repair phones and happened to have a replacement glass for a s3 and put it on top of the my phone and everything worked except the proximity sensor. I think because of the protective film. I ordered another replacement glass ($6) and I am going to try to use it as a screen protector. Just have to figure out how to get it to stick.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I personally use a Zagg Invisishield, but plan to buy a Sir Lancelots Holy Grail soon. I use them just because I prefer not to have a scratched screen. I have seen many S3's just covered in scratches. Granted, they were owned by people who were prone to dropping their phone, but it does happen. The S3 screen is scratch resistant and tempered, but that still means it can scratch and break.
I've had a screen protector on my s3 since the first day I got it. Just a week ago, I got pretty much fed up with the screen protectors always scratching and getting really oily. Took it off and omg the screen is so smooth. So far my screen has no scratches.

Despite what they say about Gorilla Glass, its still possible to scratch it! Have some bad experience of it myself.
I've been using the same skin from xoskins.com for my s3 since the release day. No scratches, no orange peel look to it, no curling edges. Love it. Gorilla glass might be tough but scratches can happen, and this skin prevents it.
