[Q] mk16i h/w keyboard jammed - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an issue with h/w key "," it just presses by itsefl and freaks me out. I think it began after I dropped it at some point, and at a time I don't have warranty for it, so I can't cheaply bring it to life again. I see two ways to fix that. To disable the h/w keyboard at all, or to fix the key. The problem with the second option is that I was unable to find the disassembling guide witch shows how to get to the keys. Please help to solve that issue.
The ROM is 4.1.B.0.587 and the issue started before flashing from the original one

Keys has stopped responding

Since I updated from windows mobile 5.0 has all the front panel (green phone, joystick etc) buttons stop responding. They work for 5-6 clicks, and then goes totally dead. Only a reboot solves the problem. I have done some searching on google, and found people whose Hermes are suffering from the same problem.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
have you tried flashing back the operator rom you originally had on the hermes? Thats just To see if it is a rom problem and not a hardware problem. I would try that first.
If you still have the problem then look at what software you are installing and make sure they are all work ok in wm6 as maybe it is something you are installing that is causing the problem.
i have the same problem too. i`ve flashed many roms with no effect. please help coz it`s very annoying. i`ve noticed that sometimes when i turn the screen off the keys are still powerd on ... and vise versa...

phone crashes when slide out the keyboard

hello,
I have noticed that sometimes when opening an SMS , if i slide out the keyboard the phone crashes and needs a hard reset.
do you think that there is any solution for this?
Try flashin another rom to narrow down and see if it's a hardware issue. if it was the the rom causing it. post in his thread instead of opening a new thread.
I think you mean a soft reset. If you had to do a hard reset you would have to load all the software again. Just trying to clarify things for others to help you.
Happens (soft reset required) with my stock [email protected] rom occasionally.
yeah soft-reset is needed
any ideas?
i also asked in the thread for my rom version
i just had mine yesterday and its still the basic 6.1 version.
everytime i slide the keyboard, everything just seems to lag for some times before magically returns to normal. Same thing happen when i slide the keyboard back.
This might related somehow to the TC question....is this normal? I've searched and found nothing
This is happening to me and a collegue on our recently purchased T-Mobile htc tp2. This seems to be somewhat of a recurring issue on tp2 from what I have been reading... some people say it is a problem on the mother board of the thing... hope someone has something different to say!!
I have the same issue with my stock tilt 2, it only happens from time to time. Last night when i set my phone down on my center consule in my truck i noticed the phone shut down as well. When i turned it back on i pressed on the back of the phone with the cover on and it shut down again. When i took the cover off thinking the battery might be loose somehow the phone didn't shut off while pressing down on the battery. I put the cover on again and it shut off when i pressed on it but i can't figure out what it is

[Q] Back button problems

Since a while my desire is having back button problems. Since I have tried different roms after the problem occurred and the problem persisted with each of those roms, I believe this is a hardware issue. Now, I could of course have my phone serviced to resolve the problem. But the downside would be that I don't know if this still falls under warranty (the device is over a year old) and that I would lose my phone for a period. Since my contract ends in October and I was planning on purchasing another phone by then anyway, I thought maybe there are some options to help me stick out the time. For example, I was wondering if it's possible to modify it such that pressing the search button also triggers a back press. Since I _never_ user the search button, I would not lose functionality but would gain a bigger, more usable back button.
So, my question is: Is it possible to modify the search button to act as a back button also, in result creating one big back button where pressing anywhere would suffice?
Thanks in advance for your help!
FYI: My desire is rooted and runs Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 at the moment.
have look here /system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl
and here
remap keys as you require
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip! Couldn't get it working at first with manually editing the keymap, but after some searching I found "ButtonRemaper" with which I could get it working.
hmm this only works within a rom right? since my volume up button is useless so to access hboot often requires several tries...
You right just in the Rom

[Q] Home Key Sticking, Phone Going Crazy

Hello All. I've used these forums many many many times and have never had to ask a question... until now.
I had/have an issue with my headphone jack, and watched/followed a teardown vid to take apart my phone to check if there was anything I could do to fix the issue myself before calling in the big guns. I did not fix the issue, put the phone back together. during the teardown/put back there were no issues, but once I got it back together the home key would not work. I rebooted, no help. I took the phone apart again, checked to see if I damaged anything- saw nothing. Home key still would not work... properly. It is randomly working, but not when I press it. Every few seconds, or every few minutes it will long-press on its own and bring up task manager. My phone is out of warranty, and i'm sure i cannot afford to send it in to be repaired. Does anyone know if this is a software or hardware issue? I know it's my fault and I don't care about the headphone j ;ack anymore. I just need my phone to stop randomly opening the task manager. I installed a softkey home button app just so I can get to homepage without banging the back button (which still works, as does the menu - the homekey will sometimes bring up the menu as well) a million times. I would like to fix the issue, but at the very least i can live with disabling the home key and using softkeys. will rooting help? right now i am backing up my stuff so that I can do a factory reset. If that doesn't work I will need some advice, and I know you genius' have a few cents worth. PLEASE HELP ME!
Thanks in advance.
Replace home key pad...
It's really the only proper fix for your issue...g

[Q] Galaxy note3 menu & back key problem

Hi guys
I have a problem with my galaxy note3 n900t. My menu and back key is not working when i touch them with my fingers but they work whit the s pen! Anyone with the same problem or a solution?
Thx
S-pen uses different method of detecting key presses (including back and menu keys) than finger touch. If I was you I would do full factory reset to remove possibility of software being corrupted and if that didn't work I would take it to the service with possible hardware issue.

The problem started on the stock rom. The key would not light up and they would not respond on my fingers just my s pen... this was the first phone that i liked on a stock rom haha... but i rooted it in hoppe that it would solve the problem.... i installed the wicked v5 rom... but still nothing... i called the service and they never heared about a problem like that... haha... but they sad that i had to repair the hole thing (digitizer,display...) not just the buttons... so not a cheap thing to do...
If it happened on stock firmware, presumably with Knox flag still 0, shouldn't you take it to service then? Now probably with flag =1, hopefully they won't give you hard time if the phone has to go to Samsung service center, or was warranty repair not an option from the beginning? Anyhow, full reset would not hurt. You could also take it apart and see if cables are loose, or something, otherwise service center is your friend. I've seen videos but don't remember now if those buttons are separate or part of the screen, but just FYI full screen with digitizer cost well over $200.

It is under 1 year warranty........................... Unless it was blacklisted.
TWEAKED 2.0
Try something simpler like Settings>Controls>Increase touch sensitivity. Toggle that and maybe your finger will work. Perhaps it thinks your fingers are made of leather and you haven't been moisturizing with enough coconut oil (lol).
Sounds like you have some hardware issues my friend.
I would root, run a logcat, use LogcatX or something, and run a floating log cat session... touch the keys with your finger and see if the touch is being registered by a "touch event" being displayed in your log...
If you get nothing, I would say you have a hardware issue. Almost certain. Warranty claim.
