Help needed to fix BT problem in CM9/10 - HTC One V

Hi
To all CM9 and CM10 users
I am searching a problem where certain BT devices will
not work properly for outgoing calls
The one case I know that causes problems is using
a Nokia CK-7w car handsfree device.
Incoming calls working fine but outgoing calls will not
be routed correctly to the headset/car speakers,
If you use a BT headset or BT handsfree for your car stereo
Can you report if it works with information about:
-BT device model
-which CM9/10 version
I am adding my two devices that work with CM9
-Kenwood BT61U car stereo with BT support
-iBlue mini Bluetooth Headset http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008E8IKWK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
Thanks in advance
max

Plantronics 510 Headset misbehaving
Hi
I have problems with the above headset, the symptoms, + logcat, are
Phone Make/Model : HTC One V, GSM, UK Version
Rom : CM9RC3
Kernel :titanium Kiss , tk_usb_cm9_201209091500.img
Have paired a plantronics PLT510 bluetooth headset with the phone, perfectly fine and phone audio is "ticked" in Pairing option
Dialing out
Stock ROM
- if i make a call with the phone using the stock Rom, then as soon as I press dial, a bluetooth connection is created and I hear the ringing tone in my Bluetooth headset..when I disconnect it also disconnects
CM9
- Whilst dialing, if i select (bluetooth from second icon), it still doesn't connect
- The only way I can make it work, is to hold the call button on the headset pressed AFTER Ive hit send/dial on the phone, then voice is transferred to Bluetooth
Receiving a call
- Stock rom, as soon as a call comes in , it connects by default to the headset
- CM9
- Voice stays with handset
- Whilst phone is ringing
- If I press and hold the call button on the headset it will hang up the call (Correct behaviour I think)
- If I press once the call button on the headset, it will answer the call, but voice is still on the handset
- If I press the second icon to select bluetooth on the phone , still nothing happens
- If I answer phone (either by BT call button) or handset, then HOLD the BT Call button on the headset, then voice streaming works......
Currently I have to answer the call using the handset, then press & hold the BT Call button for the call to be transfered to the headset.. delay of approx 5 seconds...
Once the connection is made, the quality is good, clear and consistent...
logcat, available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909885
thanks all

Also confirmed working PLT-510 headset..
However.. I have experienced a few freezes, (ie had to hold power button for 10s to reboot.. ), the most recent one was when I turned off bluetooth...
Might be coincidental, but am monitoring it...

Actually no longer
With the recent LPM fix the BT clock is always disabled as soon as possible
So no extra battery is used for BT if idle

I'm having a similar problem on every CM10/10.1-based ROM that I've tried (Evervolv, Slim Bean, AOKP, Provision) on the PrimoC side of things. Max, do you know if your improvements have been implemented for the CDMA ROMs, or are they GSM-specific? I've tried multiple versions of both the SuperSick and jmz kernels. In every case, media streaming works great, but in-call audio does not work at all. I have a Dual BTM60 bluetooth module for my head unit, and it works fine with the stock ROM.

I concur... maxwen, any input? This seems to be the last remaining issue with primoc jellybean roms... (although the jb 4.2.X roms seem to have broken bluetooth completely, no media streaming works either..., the 4.1.X roms have the same problem cited above)

BT media streaming works fine for me on Beyond's CFX 4.2.2 for primoc. In-call audio does not, however.

Incoming call isn't routed to my bluetooth.

Hi guy's, i have a problem i havn't found a solution yet....
i've paired my bluetooth headset and all outgoing calls work fine. But when i get an incoming call its audio is routed to the phone instead to my bt headset, so every time i get a call i manually need to tell it to use the bluetooth... it's very annoying and unsafe as i use my bt headset mainally while driving...
I've looked every where, and tried all sort of apps that turn your bt off when a call is done and turn it on and pair back when i receive a call... but it takes time until the phone pair back with the headset... no good....
Please help if you have any solution, or you too have the same issue...
I have a rooted phone, using pays 1.6 bravesoul (based on mcr 3.1).

Thanks for the replay, The thing is that a very simple software can fix this, but I cannot any thing that works... and Froyo is not stable enough for me...
I have exactly the same issue but with 3 different bluetooth devices. The phone will make a call OK and use the bluetooth device for audio, but when receiving, the audio is routed to the phone. Weird.
On my Touch Diamond 2 it uses BT headset if i use the headset answer button to answer the call and if i use button on the phone it uses audio on the phone. Maybe its same with android?
No, it doesn't matter what device's button you use or even after a reboot.

Best blue tooth headset.

Anyone to recommend a good Bluetooth headset, a set with music controls 3.5mm jack for your own earphones and a display that would display the id3 tags or file name. Of course be able to answer calls.
I'm using a Nokia one at the moment but its not very responsive, dunno if its because of the old Bluetooth 1.0 compatibility.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Sony MW600.
Thanks for the recommendation, so I bought a set after reading positive reviews. Connection was easy and very quick and responsive. But one fault is that the phone itself starts ringing on incoming calls the and some signals through the headset. Weird doesn't happen on my old slow unresponsive BT headset (Nokia) at least the phone didn't ring just signals through the headset bit embarrassing when your phone goes off and you answer on a BT headset.
Any settings that could fix this?
I have resetted BT pairing and the headset but still same.
Anybody use this with wildfire?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire
Are you using any custom roms? I remember that cyanogen rom has some options about ringing in headphones, if I am not mistaken.
Also, did you test it on another phone to see if it's behaving the same way ?

I am using Wildpuzzle 0.8. Checked media and phone audio is connected. Have tried it on a Nokia and same thing happens. Can the headset be updated or something? My way round is to mute the phone when I connect the headset but this is so inconvenient when sometimes I forget to reenable sound.

Try this: Do a nandroid back-up and flash CM7. See if the problem still persists.
If not... I`m out of ideas. Maybe try to get a refund?
I have read many threads with same complaint, now realising It's a feature of most new smartphones (dunno whether its just android or not) that phone always rings with Bluetooth headsets just in case for some reason you take out your earphones for some reason.
I'm a little reluctant to switch to cm7 waiting for it to be stable first.

I think it`s normal for a phone to ring via the speaker even with the headset connected. Maybe they just need to add an option for it.
I meant testing CM7, not switching to it completely. A 30 min job to test CM7 and restore nandroid.
Hi
Just got the MW600 as well, very pleased so far.
I have the same issue, phone is ringing as well - whereas it does not really bother me.
There are few things not working well for me, so I was hoping to find here some feedback:
- No Song titles are displayed (not so bad since it is normally clipped in a position where you can not easily check
- the call-button does not work to call somebody, only to take a call
- the play button does not automatically start playing HTC music - but worked with Winamp and Songbird
Any suggestions ?
Original Rom (l have 2.2.1 nie) have Sound quality issue over a2do. HTC support said, I must wait for next update (when they may be fix it)

Hello,
i use Jabra BT3030
http://www.productwiki.com/jabra-bt3030/
3 years of working, without any problem
Ok, I really start to like the SE MW600 a lot
If you get a call music stops and you can take the call with one button.
Double tapping the call button re-calls the last person you phoned - works good as well.
But I am still not having the ideal media player
Original HTC music player fails to start up automatically when you tab the music button
- but next song/pause works well
Songbird opens automatically, next song/pause/... works well but searching in a track not and it is rather heavy making the phone really slow
Winamp is probably the best, but I still think it is too heavy
Does anybody knows a good light media player with bluetooth support ?

Different bluetooth stack?

Hi everyone,
The bluetooth on my GSIII has been a complete failure. You can follow the saga here (http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w245-b-class/1662643-2009-w245-samsung-galaxy-s-iii.html), but basically it connects to my car and has no sound with the stock ROM and refuses to connect to the car at all with the AOKP JB build. It suggests an android problem, so I'm wondering if the bluetooth stack can be reloaded to reflashed with something different. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Thank you!
I have a problem with one of my Bluetooth devices dropping and reconnecting. Not sure why is just one. It works fine on an iPhone. I'm guessing your GS3 isn't the international version?

Update: no change with the new kernel. The phones pairs but there's no sound, just as was the case before.

Try CM9. Bluetooth works much better with it. CM10 should have it fixed as well in a day or two.
Here's a 'six months later' update. My phone went through various android updates and I'm now on Android 4.1.1 (up from 4.0.4). The problem was still not solved, but instead of no audio, I now have one way audio, where people hear me but I don't hear them through bluetooth. I have also gone through a number of custom ROMs and kernels for my phone (including CM9/10 and AOKP) and nothing helped with the issue.
A couple of days ago, my girlfriend's HTC One X (finally!) got its Android update, also from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. Her phone now works like a charm with the in-car bluetooth.
The solution I ended up with was a car cradle and a couple of NFC tags to control my phone in the car. My NFC tag that's stuck to my car cradle turns off WiFi, starts car mode, starts a car home app and turns my volume to max. All I have to do after that is connect the 3.5mm audio cable and I use my phone in place of the car's infotainment system. That way the phone integrates into the car as well and the only thing I lose are the steering wheel controls (they still work for volume).
My less technologically inclined girlfriend now has everything work auto-magicallly with bluetooth. So I guess all's well that ends well, but to anyone considering a US-spec Galaxy S III, watch out: the bluetooth issue is still not fixed. If bluetooth is critical, consider the HTC One X (but be warned: it has awful battery life!)
I have no issues with stereo Bluetooth and mono Bluetooth. Everything and everyone hears and plays fine. It might be an issue with your headset.

Colby. What version of android, kernel / rom combo are you using?? There's SOOO many people having problems with JB and bluetooth, regardless of rom or kernel setup.
If you're on stock... just nm then.

What's wrong with stock? I have no major issues with streaming BT from my phone to my Mazda 3 head unit, or to my Sony MW600 earphones. Even track titles work (the only thing that doesn't work is time display). In my experience, Bluetooth works best on the stock ROM.
Stock Rogers ROM (DLK4 - JB 4.1.1), rooted
KT747 (1/9/2013) kernel
CWM Recovery 6.0.2.3
PlayerPro Music Player
On my old Xperia X10, I had CM7 and had no end of issues with BT:
- Sometimes it would connect and there would be no sound
- Sometimes it wouldn't connect at all
- Sometimes it would cut out after switching songs
- It would stutter a lot whenever Wi-Fi was enabled (but I think that was a problem with the Xperia).
When I tried CM10.0 on my S3 I had similar connection issues, just not as bad. Also, the volume gain over BT was much lower, so I had to turn the car speakers way up. Stock 4.1.1 doesn't have any of these problems. The only problem I had was the audio switching over to speaker after turning off the car, but I fixed it.
Also, BT is apparently broken in 4.2.1 in general, not just CM10.1. Google confirmed a BT patch that works on the Nexus 7, due for release with 4.2.2: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/smar...confirms-android-4-2-bluetooth-streaming-flaw
TIP: Don't forget to turn up the volume on your phone. I don't know how many times I accidentally turned down the volume and thought that it wasn't working. Now I have Tasker do it for me whenever I connect. :good:
4.1.2 has Bluetooth working use it everyday. (Stock and ROM.) Can't tell u which combo I use at a time. I flash a different ROM everyday. As 4.2.1bluetooth is broken expect for task's AOKP. He has it workingish.
Now as connecting to a car. Depends on what it connects as. And I've learned going to and from ROMs when u connect a source hit the volume up 9/10 times it works

A2DP Dongle / Phone Mic

I have a bluetooth dongle in my car which connects via the Aux In socket and this streams music through the speakers. When the phone rings it also comes through the speakers, however I cannot be heard by the caller, so I assume the phone's microphone is being disabled. When hardwired between phone and Aux In the microphone does not shut off. I have played around in the settings on the phone and cant see anything which helps, can anyone advise if it is possible to configure the phone to keep the microphone on.
Many thanks

[Q] Probem with Bluetooth on Cyanogenmod 11

Hello.
I have installed Cyanogenmod 11 on my HOX.
although everything looks to be working fine, I still have issues with my Bluetooth.
When driving in my car, and want to place a call, I used to be able to use Cyberon Voice Commander to place the call.
It still works when i use it on my phone without Bluetooth, but when I am connected to my car everything stays silent.
It worked with stock firmware, and I can recieve calls using bluetooth, and I also can use the car stereo to play music from my phone,
but just making a call with the Voice commander does not work.
Does anyone have similar experiences with this, or does anyone have a solution?
Search the thread, been mentioned a lot there !
Hello,
I have been searching, and also looked in the thread for the HTC (HTC One X CyanogenMod 11.0 nightlies, http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583037) but I could not find an issue which is matching my problem.
Unfortunately I am (yet) not able to post this issue in the HTC One Cyagenomod thread...
I don't own a BT headset so I can't properly debug the issue. I know that a lot of people complain about it but there is not much I can do unless they actively try to help. You could provide logs when pairing the device, turning it on and when doing a call.
I might by a BT headset in the future. So there is hope .
Hello,
I was not sure which logfiles you wanted, so I grabbed the output from dmegs and made a logcat and put it in a zip fie.
Here they are.
Thanks for your effort, though.
Thanks for the logs.
Can you describe the behaviour a bit more? What exactly does not work? Imitating the call through Bluetooth, hearing your partner through Bluetooth or recording through Bluetooth. And can you test other apps for me. Like Skype or the normal phone without cyberon.
Do you know if your car is recognized as a normal handsfree Bluetooth device or something special? If you happen to know it.
Also some apps (like Google Now) need to be told to use BT devices.
Hello,
Bluetooth itself is working normally, I can use it to play music on my car's stereo, and when I recieve a call it works fine, I can hear the other party, and they can hear me.
It's just when I want to make a call, I can see Cyberon Voice commander starting up, but I don't hear any sound, and it also does not respond on voice commands.
When I disable Bluetooth, the app works normal.
On stock HTC rom, the app also works fine.
I own a Ford Focus 2011, and it shows up in bluetooth as Ford Audio.
The profiles active are audio for telephone and audio for media (sorry, translated from dutch).
The default Voice Dialer at least I can hear on my headset, haven't tried in the car yet with this version of Cyanogenmod.
It does not seem to respond to the micophone though.
The previous version of Cyagenomod would also not play over my car speakers.
Will try again when I get back home, did not use my car today.
Please test tomorrows nightly. I fixed some issues and I think they address your problems.
Try this Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586808 On the latest Version is a fix for BT maybe it helps
Hello,
just tried to test the "Voice dialer" through my car stereo, I can hardly hear it, and it does not recognize anything I say.
At least not in a way it would be useful for me
With tomorrows version you mean CM-11-20140314-Nightly, or the one after that?
Could not see anything about Bluetooth in the changelog, but I'll wait for the next version.
Will report back.

Hello,
I tested it with yesterday Nighties, and it's working now.
Cyberon Voice Commander could now be used with the Car bluetooth set.
Thank you for solving this.
I hope the logs I uploaded were of any use.
btw, I did take a look at the change log, and the line "tegra3-common: system/audio.h: Use correct DEVICE_BIT_IN bits" didn't ring any bells in my head in combination with Bluetooth.
Anyway, it is solved for me (and maybe for several others as well), so I want to express my gratitude by saying: Thank you very much:highfive:.
