I've been going back and forth with roms but I think I'm going to play around with Paranoid Android for a little while longer until we get a bootable JB port.
What does your current setup look like, and what tablet apps/tweaks/games have to installed to make your T989 feel/look like your ideal tablet?
Feel free to screenshot or just respond.
Thanks. :good:

Normal setup didn't really tweak anything. Put everything on tablet optimized. The icon setup is the folder look by default. Just changed the wallpaper to go with the soft keys. Gonna play with it some more later on. I like the way it looks right now.

Last weekend I flashed paranoid, but couldn't get my it to look as I want, and also I had a number of issues. My work needs me to have a functional daily driver phone. decided to flash back to darkside. Im waiting for the next update of paranoid. Hoprefully, I'll have better luck with it. When it comes out I'll try it again.

Yep. We can flash skyrocket roms and they can flash ours. If your comfortable flashing roms in general its nothing different. Just make a backup before you do anything.

Hey everyone, I will be getting this phone (T989D Koodo) in the next few days and have a question.
I am coming from the LG Optimus One, a lower end smart phone. This will be my first 'major/higher end' phone.
I mainly use my phone for the essentials; texting, talking (and Camera now that I have a good one lol), and a bit of social media.
I don't play games on my phone. My phone will come with 4.0.4. I prefer stable roms with basically everything working.
What roms/kernels would everyone suggest for me? Focusing on battery life, but not decreasing performance to laggy.
Thank you in advance.
Edit: Thought I posted this in a different area(general). Mods please move to appropriate area.

I'd try the Plain Jane ICS ROM for stability and speed. It's beautiful and minimal with performance tweaks. I personally use the MIUI ICS ROM. A lot of people are having sound quality issues in phone calls, but I have none of these issues. I have yet to jump to JB.
Good luck

Honestly, I'd recommend CM9 if you want solid performance and everything working properly while keeping solid battery life. It doesn't have a few of the bells and whistles that Touchwiz ROM's have, but the performance and stability are amazing.
However, if you'd prefer using a TW ROM, try out any of the 4.0 ROM's. 4.1 is neat, but still has problems no matter which one you go with. As for which one of those ROM's... I can't really say that any of them truly shines above another, so the best thing you can do is look for a highly rated/used one and try that out. Worst case scenario, you end up trying a different one instead.

First off, I'm not saying one devs work is better than the other. They all work dang hard for sure.
As far as ur preferences, mine are exactly identical and from personal taste I like jovy's darthstalker. Battery is great, its very stable and very smooth. With the same uses I average about 16 hours before needing a charge. I haven't had a chance to flash version 4 and play with it yet as I'm still enjoying version 3. Other than that, you can always flash all the roms and pick one that suits ur needs...cuz that's what I did. Good luck bud.

I've also noticed that JB was a little laggy like in switching apps and the notification drop down. Just rooted and installed CM10 and I now can see why the reviews are raving about jelly bean. Everything runs SUPER FAST and smooth on my phone with CM10, apps open really fast and app switching is light speed.

Maybe you should do a factory reset or you have a lemon? JB isn't laggy at all, but setting animations to .5 helps even more. JB just has more features, I couldn't imagine going back to ICS
Your question is a matter of opinion, really! You can feel that way about jb but for others its magic. Play around with it. (that's what she said btw) see what works and what doesn't. Hey, I was wondering if anyone was interested in porting over the blackberry 10 lockscreen.
It looks great, and I think is the perfect lockscreen to use with the PGM Touch Control mod that's now available for the N4.
Here are the two original threads which contain info about the lockscreen and how to port it.
I don't really know how to do this stuff but if anyone else is interested it would be great for the rest of us :victory:

Isn't there a way to get one zip working on all aosp roms and maybe one for CM. I think that's how most mods work but I don't really know the technicalities of it all so don't shoot me.

Hey everyone I am looking for someone to test out a zip for me that I made using Cygwin. Its a De-odexed version of MA4.
I haven't seen anyone do this so far in development and I saw someone asking for a de-odexed version of it.
This zip should work as it was done with Cygwin. I also zip aligned all of the apks in the proccess and included init.d support.
And thanks to Sextape and the gang for providing to us the MA4 tar
I should include the famous "I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone".
Anyways here is the link to the Rom I made.

Already trying to break a good thing. MA5 with the stock kernel is blazing fast so do we really need to have purple and green spray painted themes with bouncing jelly beans?

This is for people who don't like stock. You're free to your opinion. But some people would like to slap on a theme and overclock the **** out of their phone.

And btw let me see if stock kernel can beat this.

People can morph their phones all they want and perhaps I was a little too rude about that but as far as overclocking, I would give the rom time to settle and then benchmark it. You will find that the stock kernel, unmolested, will match the OC kernels out there.
This was done 5 minutes ago after I reinstalled my apps, recharged while letting the kernel sit for about 2 hours.
Mine isn't overclocked

When I add an the new 1.5 Anthrax kernel to it I'm sure it will be higher but this test was just to prove a point not to say that mine is bigger than yours.

I'm not getting into a pissing match about this with you. I haven't even opened up SetCpu, RomToolBox, etc... No performance governors no schedulers just plain out of the box.
Okay I'm tired I have class in 4 hours so lets quit the chit chat lol

I surrender. I'm bored at work right now but never so bored I need to argue.
