Wifi not working on certain applications - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I've had a problem when on wifi certain apps won't work, YouTube, sometimes when downloading from Google play. I'm rooted and this happens on custom roms. Any advice or should I just unroot and try again. Thanks

Might be your rom. I haven't ever had this problem. Are you on your wifi at work? Maybe those sites are blocked by them. What rom and all that are you on

Well I can't remember the other rom but I'm on the cm10 right now. Only connected to wifi at home. Was thinking about redoing everything and see if that clears it up. Thanks for the help though never thought about certain things being blocked

ET4G S5 Team venum was the other rom

Why does the camera randomly not work?

Sometimes when recording a video, there are vertical lines. And, sometimes when I initiate the camera app, there's just a black screen. Any of these issues fixable? Running stock 2.3.6

Does it do this with other camera apps?

OP i have the same problem im sending it to samsung for repair
Haven't tried with other apps cause I actually love the stock camera.
I have an HTC Evo and an eee-pad docking station that's currently put for repair..... This issue isn't that much of a deal for me to send back. Guess I'll just deal with it.

Maybe you should try an ICS rom such as stock rooted fe22 and see if the camera still acts up?

Thb.... Kinda nervous to root cause this device could be hard bricked.... Lol. Would rather just wait for the official ics release

Tapatalk slows and crashes alot

Are you guys finding the tapatalk app slowing down lagging, and crashing?
It does on my s3
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
Yes. That and the damn back button takes me all the way back to the front page instead of taking me back to the previous folder.
That and the damn pics won't load!

It's a known issue on the SIII. Complain lots and they may release an update
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
When it slows down on my phone, I kill and restart the app. Not convenient, but it seems to get things moving at a reasonable speed again. Very annoying.

I have noticed this problem as well. I have been running sammy based roms lately and wonder if this is also happening on CM9/CM10/AOKP? Is everyone experiencing this problem running sammy or is this widespread across all gs3 rom variants. Just trying to narrow the problem down.
No issues here. Running aokp cm9

Slow switching to 3G once I'm off WiFi

So it may take a couple of minutes for the phone to go from wifi to 3G once I turn off WiFi on the phone. I'm on FF18 modem. Anybody's got any suggestions? Maybe a modem I should try?
Well from my experience I used to have the same problem u are having now and the only solution that fix it for me was going back to el29 rooted .. flash a el26 kernel with cwm .... use calkulin format all , do it 3 times then flash the rom u want ... good luck ...

It seems like it is a random thing. Mine does it then doesnt, it happens more from 4g to 3g. It may take 5 to 7 minutes to reconnect.

Reset your router...that worked for me.
Thanks. Other then that one problem phone is awesome

I've noticed the same thing, it seems like sometimes it just intermittently doesn't want to transfer. I have to refresh to get it to transfer. Guess I'll reset my router, but that doesn't seem like it helps much if I don't own the router wherever I'm at..

I think once the "home" router is reset, you'll be fine. As for the routers elsewhere, most places reset them periodically or are on a schedule...my home router has that feature.
Never reset mine as its in the neighbors house and I dont think theyd like me going in their house to reset their router. Long story short after awhile its working perfect now. So maybe just some patience is key.

Rom with best hot spot/wifi tether?

Question, are there any roms out there that have a better quality hot spot /wifi tether than others or is this feature just generally poor on this phone?
The reason I am asking is that my original evo had great hot spot quality. I drive back and forth from Houston to San Antonio and with the evo my wife would be able to be connected and work on her laptop the whole way. With this phone she can't.

What are you currently using?

I've used stock, now I am on blazer.

I'm sorry what app are you using to tether? Treves app or are you using the modded sprint tether app?
Sent from the future via Tapatalk 4
Wifi-tether treve mod.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Ok several months ago the sprint tether app was modded and is the best out. Let me find the link I will put it in here. Most of the newly updated roms all have the modded sprint tether already built in. Have you read the changelog for Blazer?
Here's the link to the mod sprint hotspot thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40013605

I did download the md4hotspotmod.zip. I guess I need to research what the best settings are for the app, there are a lot of setting options if I remember correctly.

All I did was flash it, is that all I need to do? The app is called Sprint Hotspot, blue and yellow?

No not at all just turn it on. Uses your phone number as password but you can change that. Treves has a lot more settings and configuration. This is the sprint hot spot and you just turn the switch to on.

I'll test it on the drive home and let you know. Thanks

I completely agree, but I thought it mentioned he was having trouble with it. I haven't used either much, but they both seemed to work equally as well when I did use them. The native hotspot is easier to use too.
Driving back to Houston right now and trying to use the native Hotspot. It says the laptop is connected but we're not able to access the Internet. Any suggestions?

Tried to connect using a tablet, same thing, it connects to the phone but no Internet access. Maybe it's just that the phone doesn't have a strong enough signal, hard to believe the signal on my old evo was stronger than on this phone.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Set the password up and enter it. It should work right away. It uses the phone number as the default password but you may need to change it.
