Just upgraded from captivate to the s3 and I'm in the process of customizing my cm10 (latest nightly as of 9/14). On cm for my captivate (I don't remember the version, it was the latest stable release) I could alter the text messaging theme to black instead of white. Is this possible with cm10?
Also, I like to keep my phone on vibrate but the vibration is a little too strong and audible, is there a way to reduce the intensity that I am missing?

No and no, it's still early builds of CM10, going to be awhile before features like these get in there.

I'm using the latest juggernaut and love it (smooth and stable). One missing feature is not being able to use quicktoggle settings. I've replaced the system ui apk and framework from another ROM and got it working but it made the notification bar laggy. Anyone have any suggestions?
Sadly I have never bothered trying to move the toggles on Juggernaut. However the current ROM and Kernel that I am using at the moment give me spectacular battery life and is very very smooth, even whilst underclocked. It also has the ability to rearrange the toggles out of the box. Refer to my siggy for my setup.

Q&A

Hey all,
I was using the official AOKP toroplus build for awhile, and decided to upgrade to a non official CM10 build for JB. The thing I miss is being able to tweak the icons in my status bar, so that instead of them being partially transparent (white icons appear gray) I could make them appear at their full color (white icons are white).
I can't find that option in CM10 (nor could I find it in CM9). Is there a mod that enabled this in CM10 or is it located somewhere that I don't see?
Thanks!
Ricky

I know it's missing, and I know what stage CM10 is in. I'm not expecting everything to be there. CM9, however, didn't have it either, so I'm assuming CM10 won't even when it goes to nightlies. I'm asking if there is a .zip I can flash or something that will give me that functionality.
Ok, I decided to start this thread in order for these roms to get better. It's not just a question of who's the best but this thread aims to provide both groups with users expreriences in order for their roms to get better. In order for us to do that we need to state our:
** likes for each rom
** dislikes
** battery life
** other bugs
** suggestions
If you ask why I choose those to roms, it's just because they're my two favorites. Respect to all devs here us their work is simly amazing. Thread starts while AOKP is on build 3 and CNA on 3.6 release.
The only thing that I hate about aokp is their notification toggles. It doesnt fit at all!! (In the JB statusbar) while the power widget from cm10 fits like google put it in. So if aokp redisigns their toggles it would be nice.

CNA has an unroot option in the menu. Personally I prefer to have an unrooted device, but I like the customization of the ROM. It can be the best of both worlds.

See the toggles are what I love about aokp. I know I'm in the minority. Those toggles are stock jelly bean toggles just FYI.

same here, those toggles are my favorite, that power widget is the first thing i get rid of - i think it's an eyesore.
I was on CNA and its good but missing some features that I like in AOKP & CM10. Like the cm10 percentage battery and Led options like in aokp Also the navbar soft key customization. The main thing I noticed about CNA that I didn't like was, receiving text messages is slow, it takes a long time to get a text from the person. The only other ROM to be slow with receiving SMS was MIUI jellybean.

Hi, I'm running the latest stable release of AOKP, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove a custom image in the notification background? I set it to an image and I want my transparent background back. Thanks!
Eli
Most likely it would be in ROM control or something. Yea ROM control>general ui

Yeah, but there's no option to remove the background. Am I missing something?
Not sure about the gs3 rom but when I had aokp on my captivate I had the same issue. It let's you set a custom one but won't let you remove the custom one. I ended up grabbing a solid black background and using that as a custom one. Or try reflashing the rom. It would be nice to have an option to remove it and set it back to default.
Mind you it could be different on the gs3, I'm basing this off of the captivate version aokp jb milestone 1.

When you're on the general UI menu under ROM Control, tap the menu button and the option should be there to remove custom notification background.
I switched to AOSP type roms now from touchwiz. The only concern i was wanting to get an answer for is how to regain the brightness slider on the new 4.2 rom types.
I like the new style of 4.2, especially the Chronus lock and widget options.
If anyone has any sort of answer or fix for this that would be awesome.

The newest release of Tasks ROM has both of these features, the Chronus clock was just added and the brightness slider is there as well.
OK cool, Im running tasks now, unless there is a more current one, this was downloaded about 2 days ago

And I should also be more descriptive, I would prefer the brightness slider in the status drop down, not as a link to the slider.

In Task's ROM he doesn't have the actual slider in the notification tray, but rather you just slide your finger across the notification bar to change brightness.
