Paper weight or possible fix? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Before getting my SGS3 I used flashed a CM9 nightly and all was fine. After switching over phones the day of the release I put my phone back in its box in my desk. I missed it and wanted to play around, check out new development, and actually my first SGS3 was stolen off the bar so would have loved it as a temp instead of a BB. But anyways I picked it up and plugged it in... nothing won't charge no matter what, I left the battery out for about an hour plugged back in, left it plugged in over night nothing worked. The phone worked perfectly before I put it in my desk and it was untouched...does this sound done for or is there something I can try. Appreciate the help in advance.

Have you pulled the battery yet? Leave it out for 30 secs.

Yes, I've done 30 seconds, 30 minutes, 24 hours. Still wont power on, it sucks I dont have an extra battery to test that aspect.

Your battery may be fully discharged. Then mobile phones are incapable of charging them. This happened to me with old phones but not recently.
What you have to do is to remove the battery and apply highcharge to it.
Take a powersource which is capable of giving about 6-7 volts dc and connect two wires from it to +ve and -ve terminals of your battery. Hold it like that for about minute or two. Not more. Then try to charge the battery without turning on the phone. If don't work try increasing voltage upto 12v

I'm going to try this in the morning and let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for the information.

It was the charging port, not quite sure how it broke over night without it being touched. Luckily my brothers girlfriend has the dinc2 so I trialed my battery in her phone and it started charging. Any fixes for the port is that a customer service issue?

If you can hold off for about a week or so my little brother is using it as a loaner phone till his upgrade I'll pm you when he gets the s3 if you're interested.

OK sounds good thank you.

It is pretty easy to replace the charging port. I did it last week, it only took about 10 minutes and you can get the charging port for $7 on ebay. There are guides and videos on how to do it.

There's a thread on replacing the USB port, its like an 8 dollar part

Battery wont charge past half

Geez, I don't want to return this phone already, I just finished setting everything up! Any ideas?
If you take a look at the right hand side, its been flat for a couple hours now.
Does the phone feel hot? Maybe try leaving it and not playing with it while it charges lol

The phone isn't hot. I was charging it this whole time on my PlayStation. I plugged it into the wall a few minutes ago and saw a small spike in the graph. I guess the culprit was my ps3. Ill how how it goes in another half hour or so

OK, ps3 was the problem and the phone is charging fine

T989D not charging

Recently my wife plugged her phone in for the night to charge it and in the morning it was nearly dead. I figured bad connection so I unplugged and replugged it and showed charging now. A few hours later and it was near the same percentage. It is obviously getting some power. I got it charging slowly last night. It was at 91 when I went to bed. This morning it did not say charging and the battery logs I had on showed it stopped charging twice. The first time it hit 100 and quit charging for about an hour and then restarted. The second time it hit 100 it stopped charging for the night.
Other things I have tried:
Swapped battery with the one in my phone. (also t989d)
Different chargers (4 so far)
Flashing a different rom. (Leaving it on the cm10 nightly that works on my phone for the moment)
Looking for physical or obstruction for the charging port. (None I can see)
Searching the forums. (Doesn't quite match some posts since it does sometimes charge but I am going to pick up a new can of compressed air in case of lint inside.
Anyone with bright ideas?

I have had similar problems with Kindle Fires -- my family has had to have both Fires replaced twice. The problem with them is that the connections to the USB port break. I would think that the same thing could happen to just about any device that uses a micro usb connector.
Have you tried a different wall socket or charging with a computer?

This is what we are afraid of. We tried charging via the computer and it didn't seem to work.
After a reboot it is slowly charging off the wall outlet with the original charger. Much slower than it should but it is charging.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
You need to replace the charging port. if your phone is still under warranty just get it replaced.
Same thing happen to me the part is cheap to replace but you have to be careful when you take apart your phone so you don't damage any of the flex cable connectors.

I've come to the same conclusion. You make it sound easy to do. Is there no soldering etc?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
There is soldering and I would take it to a professional to get it replaced if I were you. It will cost a bit more, but at least they "know" what they are doing because your limited experience can easily damage the circuit board reckon it unusable.
Yep. I've done some home soldering in the past but those were all with things that the parts to replace the whole item were under $20. Waiting on a reply from a local shop

[Q] Weird charging issue

Last night I shut my phone off around 11pm and went to bed. The phone was at 48% when I plugged it in. This morning, I woke up around 6am and thought it was a little odd that the light on my phone was still red. When I turned my phone on it was only at 82%. After 7 hours it only charged 34%. Does anybody have any ideas why? I am on the latest Jellybomb.
I did post this in the Jellybomb Q and A thread but I figured it might be better to start a separate thread as I do not think it is Rom related?
Did you use the charger that came with the phone or another charger? I've noticed that my phone will only charge properly with high amperage chargers.
This is especially true if something is going on in the background (e.g. Titanium Backup).
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Yes I did, that is the weird thing. Also the phone was off, so nothing running in the background!
there are known issues with the security of the cable that comes with the phone, it might have been loosely inserted into the phone

Yup. The stock cable does not click wjen inserted, and doesn't even fit securely in the connector. I think I've noticed that my 2A HP Touchpad charger charges quicker than my stock N2 charger...problem with a device with great battery life, testing charging can't happen that often

Odd... I must have gotten a cable from a different batch, because mine definitely clicks. I wonder if Sammy fixed the problem by the time I got around to ordering my GN2 (I purchased mine from Sprint a couple of weeks or so ago).
Is it a problem with the cable or the connector on the phone?

My phone I got from local brick and mortar corporate Sprint last Friday all baggies in the retail box were factory sealed. Definitely a cable problem, my Touchpad charger clicks fine.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
Similar wird thing also happened to me few months ago. Bought noname charger for my phone and always had battery problems.
I can also confirm that the stock cable doesn't click and it loosens very easily. I tried my s3 cable and that one is perfect. It isn't loose compared to gn2. Also hp charger does seem to charge any of my gadgets faster than usual.

Average charging time of dinc2

It takes about 6 hours for my dinc2 to charge from about 10% to 100%. That is a huge amount of time. I had a Nokia previously and it got charged in just 1&half an hour. So i was wondering is this normal or is there something wrong with my phone or charger.???

Water in Cameras and USB port!!!

Left phone outside last night and woke up with it pouring rain. Needless to say water got in the phone. Both camera are water logged now and the usb port is acting up saying its on charger when its not. Anybody have any ideas to maybe get the water out quicker besides rice in a bowl trick. Thanks

Ouch dude. I'm sorry that happened...I would be crying if that happened to me. It sounds like a lot of water is inside the phone and would take quiet a while for the rice to do its job. Make sure to not keep the device powered on. Remove the battery ASAP and then toss the phone in a bag of rice and let it sit for a few days. You could try setting it in front of a fan too for a few hours/days. I'm surprised the phone didn't short out yet.

Front camera is still shot and usb port damaged i guess it charges but even when i unplug it it still says its charging but battery level keeps going lower not higher. I guess i will give it a few more days then get it repaired if needed. Tried to open the phone myself and got every screw out but the one on the side and just my luck it stripped so needless to say I couldn't get the back off without breaking it...go figure!!!!

Keeping the phone powered on and trying to charge it was by far the worst thing to do. You should have removed the battery right when you got it from outside and put it into rice or let it air-dry for a long time. Obviously it's too late now but for the future just remember that for any of your electronics.
Sucks about the stripped screw. Been there done that lots of times. Those kinds of screws require a really good screwdriver.
