[Q] Disable trackball unlock - rsk sense 3.5 rom - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm using the 'RSK team sense 3.5 with amaze cam' rom on my desire and was hoping to disable the trackball unlock feature. It keeps unlocking in my pocket and it's really frustrating. I've seen a few fixes around: one that fixes stock and one that fixes cm7 and was wondering whether these can safely be applied, or whether I need a specific fix for this rom OR, alternatively, whether there is a menu option hidden in the rom somewhere I'm just not seeing.
The fix I found for stock and cm7 is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14453689&postcount=10687
Thanks for your help!

I think that the option for T2U is in RC mix tweaks option.

There's an option in the aroma installer, but it doesn't appear to work. And although there's an option in the tweaks 3D settings for volume-key wake, there doesn't appear to be one for trackball :S

yh the option is in aroma setup like said above. u could look in the attachments of the rom thread coz theres sometimes zip files u can flash in recovery to disable/enable trackball wake etc etc

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I'm also using the latest RSK rom and the trackball unlock is really bothering me and there doesn't seem like a way to turn it off.

Like i said above, the answer and zip file is there. Go to desire android development, go down to RSK rom and at the end of the rom title there is a wee paper clip (thats the attachments) click it, zip file there + other usefull sh*t.

Installed Deactivate_Trackpad_To_Unlock_Stock.zip from ClockworkMod Recovery (I don't have CM7 hboot) but still the trackpad unlocks..

Hmm... Ok. U could try look in other sense 3.5 roms for the correct 1. This is probably not recommended but i used to do it all the time with sense 3.5 roms and never had a problem. Just nandroid first before flashing anything

[Q] desire hd flash rom help

guys hello,
i am new at the android "scene"
andd i need some help. a lot of people report that oxygen v2 rc5 is a lot
faster-smoother than htc sense. now from what i read it's based on gingerbread
right? and if so if i flash my DHD will i be able to root? and if yes could you provide
a noob's guide to flash my DHD?
thanx in advance.
Oxygen, isn't that for the standard desire? CM6.1.3 is fast and android stock. Isn't gingerbread yet though.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
don't ask me i am the noob here!
Did you find it in the development section for the DHD??
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
i found it while searching on a different thread and i clicked a link and
there i was:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829734&page=1#
It's for the standard desire.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
ok so do you have any other rom to suggest.
i am looking for one that isn't lacking any features,
is stable and has a smoother scrolling look on like an
iphone.
ps: no i don't want an iphone i just want my brother
who has one to stop using the only advantage of his phone
over mine to annoy me.
Just backup your existing Rom and start flashing Rom's. LeeDroid is popular, I run CM6.1.3 which I think is very good. Have a play and see what you like. Enjoy.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
one last thing --> how do you flash a new rom???????
Read the sticky threads on the developers thread. You really need to understand what your doing before going any further.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
ok thanx, will do.
ok so i got everything figured out. it's not as difficult as i thought
but there's a small problem. i install clockworkmod recovery from rom manager
but when i get into recovery i see the phone with the triangle. then i press
volume+ and power and the menu appears but it only has the 4 basics
no nandroid. what do i do?

Sounds like you don't have s-off. If you don't have s-off your recovery will be restored to the factory version when you reboot.
Go to the development section and grab the "one click radio s-off" tool. It will take care of the problem for you.
Sent from my performance enhanced Desire HD
ok gonna try that thanx.
read and do this first
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076
then choose any rom from the development section .. place the downloaded file on your sd card .. reboot into recovery choose install zip from sd card .. navigate to your downloaded file and install
I would recommend Android Revolution HD or Leedroid if you are looking for something very stable ..
ok guys thanx for your help but idecided not
to flash because i did some tricks and now my phone running fine.
1)uninstalled task manager (i am on froyo and you know the rest. haha)
2)uninstalled setcpu (i read somewhere that it may cause problems when running even if not profiles or any sort of overclock are active. that was the case with me, although i will miss the 245mhz screen-off profile.)
3)reduced my widgets and pages from 9 to 3 and 6 to 2 respectively
4)changed some options in launcher pro
these resulted in no more fc's and a lot smoother scrolling in menu, sms, homescreens etc.
despite the fact that when i scroll slowly between homescreens it's a bit laggy.
overall great.
thx again guys. if nothing else, i learnt a lot.

[Q] Sense 3.0 Lockscreen without root

t if you don´t have root permissions you can´t 3.0 lockscreen from the recoverymenu...okay...
but, can be i´m mistaken.. i don´t remember all the parameters that you must to enter in the CMD or linux shell (like me) for push it from sdk of android...now i´m mixing concepts in my head (and i can´t see it because i´m writting from my device)but i hope that you need also superuser permissions for it...(root)
EDIT:you can root, install recovery, flash it and revert root access lol
Sent from my amstrad CPC using XDA premium app powered by lol
Sorry im a lil bit new to this, (i've rooted my phone before, was running Cyanogenmod 7.0.2, but still.. a lil bit noob) hehe
But what happends when i "root, install recovery, flash it and revert root access" ?
First you will have to root to obtain root access. That is so you can install Clockworkmod which requires root access to install as it modifies the stock bootloader. You will need to install Clockworkmod and then with clockworkmod you will have to flash the required files to get the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. After you have done that and made sure it works you can get a tool from XDA that lets you put all the settings back to stock. But when you do that the Sense 3.0 lockscreen will stay.
I hope you understand what I mean
Yeah im starting to understand, but how and what am i suppose to flash?

You cann flash that you want....a new rom, a kernel,a theme... And the suposed sense 3.0 that you want for your device..
If you are not fully understand browse for this concepts and read a lot before flashing anything....
EDIT:read about the function of rom manager; of clockworkmod recovery... How to root.... Etc..

Im not sure if the 3.0 lockscreen will work on the stock ROM but its worth having a go. For that you will need 3 or 4 files depending on what you encounter.
If you go to the Android development section there is a thread called Kingdom Lockscreen which is the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. You will need to flash the Sense 3.0 weather funtionality and the Sense 3.0 messaging functionality before the lockscreen.
Before you do anything (but once you have rooted and installed clockworkmod) I recommend that you do a Nandroid backup - A Nandroid backup is a backup that is made from within the Clockworkmod recovery environment that you can access either through ROM manager or by holding down the volume button while the device is turned off and then whilst keeping it held pressing the power button. A Nandroid backup backs up your ROM while its in its working state, all your applications will be backed up. Therefore if anything goes wrong you can just boot into recovery and re-flash the backup. A backup is quite large in size though. My last one was about 700MB so make sure you have enough space on the SD card.
So once you have backed up everything you will need to install the Sense 3.0 weather and restart the phone just to test everything is working. That is because if you install everything at once and it doesnt work its next to impossible to find out what caused the fault. Once you have done that you will need to go back into Clockworkmod and flash the messaging. Again restart and once you see that the messaging works you will need to go back into Clockworkmod to flash the lockscreen.
And that is it. If you encounter any problems while the lockscreen is installed (I had a problem where when I pressed power off the phone restarted instead), you will need to apply the fix which is on page 61 of that thread. That should fix everything.
After that you would just need to unroot. There are some tools for that lurking about the forum somewhere.
EDIT: I would strongly recommend installing a custom ROM as they are just so much better than the rubbish HTC give out. Much faster, more secure and there is much better support in place for them as most people wouldnt expect. If you have a problem with a custom ROM and you post it here, you will get an answer within 15 minutes guaranteed instead of having to wait for HTC for 15 days to answer your email and then find out they didnt answer the question but just said "sorry tough luck".

How does this desire boot so fast?

I've searched the forum and didn't find this discussed, so posting a new thread.
Was hard to search because all your search will end up in fastboot related stuff.
Question is simple - how does this Phone you see in this video boot so fast? I understand that he uses Leedroid. The boot animation is different so I presume he is using a different hboot, is there a one available for Desire / Bravo which can boot the phone up in a matter of seconds?
Can't post a link, please the last part of the youtube link is watch?v=FTgJS-SrBjM

HBoot has nothing to do with boot animation. Probably the phone is just hibernating.
It's called fastboot. It should really be called quick boot though because something else is called fastboot. It's in settings, power on some Roms. How it works is when you turn off your phone, instead it hibernates so when you turn on instead of booting, it just wakes from hibernation

cant get a link to work.
i have dev version of andoird 2.3.3 on my htc desire (downloadable from htc)
with this software the phone cannot be fully shut down without removing the battery or doign a full restart.
when you shut it down it goes into a hibernate type mode so it can carry out something called fastboot.
by htc desire boots in less than 5 seconds

That's impressive. I am using MIUI based on 2.3.5 and I came from CM7, which was 2.3.4. I never saw an option to shut down like that (hibernate) and a faster boot like that.
Care to shed more light on how you exactly got that working in your phone? Is it the ROM's feature or a bootloader's feature?

Yes its a HTC released RUU so root would be lost, but then all the GB Custom ROMS have it too.

[Q] help regarding runnymedemod007

cant post in android development yet
hence q&a
i just moved to runnymedemod007 from Insertcoin rom and need help
my device - desire gsm slcd and 16gb class 2 microsd
i think i currently have cm7r2 hboot and not cm7 (first one) even though i tried to flash the original cm7 hboot using goldcard
i'd like to have more than 1 gb sdext and since cwm only offers 1gb or 2gb and nothing in between, it was 2gb for me
so flashed runnymedemod007 and hmm it runs slow
i guess mainly because class 2 microsd card (on stock hboot insertcoin ran perfectly)
but until i flashed there werent any flashable zips
now they are here
and v2 of runnymedemod007 is also here
so bfore flashing wanted to clear a few things -
what can i do to speed things up?? (class 10 card is presently not an option - will be getting one soon)
i need to flash sd fix???? what would be the sequence????
first repartition then install rom and then sd fix??
is stock hboot better (for speed)??
bump..??
anyone??
Download terminal emulator from the market and type the following
su
a2sd nocache
It will speed things up but you will lose space for apps
????
what does this do????
I also have a question regarding Runnymede007 but cant post yet as well. How do I activate the HTC quick launch widget or where is it coz i dont seem to see it anywhere. I have seen screenshots of the bliss look with the clock at the bottom and that is what i want. I have v3 and RCTweaks (available on op) installed.

Are you sure that the Quick Launch Widget is installed? If you have the apk, try installing it to be sure. Or you can push it to system/app (not sure) instead and reboot. Then check your widgets again.

[Q] Help

I'm not sure, if I'm right here. I use this site for the first time.
So, I have a little problem, and maybe you can help me.
Yeah, it's right: I've a HTC Wildfire S.
Now:
You know the phone well I think. My english isn't that good. At the top of the smartphone there is a button with which you can unlock the display/screen. But right there is my problem. This button doesn't work anymore. And HTC won't to that for free.
My question is: Could somebody of you - if it isn't difficult - make a ROM or something like this to change it? So that I can use something different for it? Like the buttons on the display or the loudspeaker buttons?
And there is another question: How I could lock the screen, if this button doesn't work?
I hope you can help me!!
In fact this is not only lock/unlock button, but the power on/off button. If ever your phone gets off, it's dead.
It is not possible to remap the hardware buttons. don't you have guanrantee?
Yes, I know that. But with changing the battery the phone could power on..
Do you mean that you cant do something like I want?
Yes. It is not possible. There is a way to wake up your phone with vol. buttons in a custom rom and locking can be done automatically in the security settings. but when your power button does not work you will not be able to flash a custom rom.
Thanks. That's not that what I hope. But better than no answer
To the guarantee question..normally yes..but they say it's my fault..I dropped it...but yes I dropped it but after 3 weeks the phone doesn't work..can tsomething like that be?

I mean, if a small piece of plastic is broken, you should be able to stick it...
I don't know the exact condition, I'm just guessing and trying to help you.
since wfs has only 3 buttons, u broke the third of your phone.... and to make things worse, its power button ...
why dont you go to some phone service, and see if they could fix that button, it shouldnt be expencive, i did that on my htc tytn II....

Thanks, benjamingwynn. I'm waiting 24/7.
Okay 5 days later I come back. I'm sorry for the lateness but I never normally go on XDA on my PC so getting links = problem. Here's step by step instructions:
1) IF YOUR NOT S-OFF - Use HTCDEV and unlock the bootloader.
2) IF YOU DONT HAVE CUSTOM RECOVERY/ARE NOT ROOTED - Click here, sign up, click on resources then click testing resources. Download the Auto-Installer GUI. Run the installer (Windows?) and then install cwm recovery and root.
3) Download Rom Manager from the Android market
4) Download Hensemod here, flash it using rom manager.
5) Enjoy Henry's wake by volume feature his amazing sense rom.
Any problems then DON'T BE AFRAID TO CONTACT ME! I will always reply even if it is a few days later.
