So, I have tried googling and searching this site for answers, but found nothing. I keep losing root privileges on my AT&T Galaxy S3 after flashing CM 10 nightlies. I tried using clockwork recovery (version 6.0.1.2) to install superuser 3.0.7 (again, since it was already installed) to gain root access, but that has not worked. What can I do to regain root? I've tried starting anew and flashing stock firmware, rooting, and then flashing CM 10 again, but lose the root when I get CM 10 installed. Any ideas? Thanks.
Another problem as well
I also have a problem with google search not responding (and crashing). I remember I had it working a few days ago but now that I've flashed a new CM file it is broken again. Does anybody know why?
I think the problem is you didn't uninstall superuser correctly before installing the other one.

Can you please elaborate? I never knew one had to uninstall superuser.
I can't elaborate on this because I'm not sure why but search about it maybe someone more experienced can help you!
I remember reading something about the importance of deleting superuser before installing a new one.

Have you wiped your data? If not, do it and reflash cm10

Well do you know if I can re-root without flashing a stock rom and and starting anew?
The only way I can think of is to go in recovery wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and flash your ROM.

If you can't enter recovery you can always us the galaxy s3 toolkit.

I've done that twice already, the root is not carried over.
Then you have no other choice, reroot it

How can I re-root cm 10? That's what I don't know and can't find how to do.
Use galaxy s3 toolkit for snapdragon and follow the steps

I did not even know that there was such a thing. I will look into it, thanks. Any ideas why the google search on my phone displays stopped errors? ("Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped.")
Have you reflah the gapps?

I used the Samsung toolkit to regain root access, but it reflashed an old version of clockwork recovery. Oh, well.. that I can deal with I suppose. I flash gapps after every cm update. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. And the google search started to work again after I re-rooted... strange.
Download ROM manager from the app store and use the update option to get 6.0.1.2 you will need it to flash cm10
I'm glad it worked for you !

i just helped a friend root his evo and he wanted to increase the cpu, what is the max cpu for only rooting on stock rom? and what is the max cpu if running cyan? for some reason his only went to the stock speed of 1ghz and unsure if it was because its not a custom rom to up the cpu speed locked to stock speed or something. thanks!
Try a different kernel

Yes. Try a different kernel. I over-clock my cpu to 1.22ghrtz. Stock kernels do not support over-clocking unless is modified

the max you can go on a stock Kernel is 998. If you flash this kernel you can go up to 1.25
Is the GT-s5660 overclockable?
Yes, it is!

u can install a custom rom (like giopro 1.4) and then install a app like setcpu or no-frills cpu control and then u can overclock the gio to max 1,037 GHz, but 921MHz works stable (for me)
OC capabilities depends on kernel.
my Gio was working stable up to ~940MHz, remember to choose governor.
it's already overclocked when you get it! (originally 600mhz iirc)
mine is only stable at 825, anything above that restarts my device

It can only on custom rom, most are already rooted and have custom kernel..
Then install cpu app and overclock to your liking

I trying to overclock but the program only appears 1024Mhz not until 1500 or 1.9Ghz :S
I already flashed kernel...
use setcpu or nofrill to set it,it should be 1.6 2.0 max if you're using doomkernel..btw which app you use?

NoFrill, but it say only 1024mhz
if 1024 it is stock kernel for arc,do confirm the kernel you flash can oc t 0 2.0?

Im using MIUI Kernel, 2.6
Because use MIUI Version of ROM
Will try DOOMLORD KERNEL MIUI 2.0 ty.
miui only 1024,so you only can oc to that value..

Done with MIUI DOOMLORD KERNEL
Ty.
im suggest jason's kernel for miui, good battery saver and great performance, dont need to oc(my opinion),try v6supercharger,so you can have great battery life plus great performance, just an advice

Is it safe to use the baked in cm10 kernel to restore a cm10 backup?
It should be safe. I know the previous builds had a bug where it would reboot during a restore or a backup. I read that the bug has been eliminated and all should work well. That was on phantoms cm10.

Is there any kernels for overclocking this phone running CM10.0? I've found a bunch that are OC'ed to 1.8 or 2.0 Ghz for 4.2 and 4.3, I've found one for the same OC for 4.1.2 STOCK ONLY. I would just flash CM10.2 but it boot loops, no matter what I try, with dozens of suggestions from many awesome people here at XDA, I just haven't had any luck getting it to not boot loop? If any body knows of a kernel that can push me past 1.5Ghz on CM10.0 let me know please!
