Hey guys looking for a little help, tomorrow I'm planing to upgrade my one-x to the latest version of the viperx rom and looking for the best kernel. I'm currently using faux 007 oc but on the forums every seems to be using faux 010 versions, I have searched around and not sure where to download the latest versions, has anyone got any hints or tips on this? Is faux still the best kernel to use (soooo many new ones coming out)

[Q] Questions about ROMs

Hi, i'm using the new version of miui 4.1.2 but the problem is that i have issues with that version, lot of app don't work, games are slow, i can't search in internet 'cause it's slow too... So I want to change for another rom but I don't know which one is good, i'm searching for a rom with jellybean which could be fast and not use a lot of my RAM not like miui.
Thanks for all and sorry if my english is bad because i'm french.

+1 for cm10!!! But try PA too!!!!
Slim bean with last hellboy kernel. Very smooth and speed. For internet, with xScope Pro, work very fast.
My english is also not very good for the same reason.
Pacman v20. Android 4.2. Sick customization. Do practically anything to your phone.

I'm running mine on ckpv5 myONEv RC9.0 FX+ on top of Maxwen's latest Titanium Kiss kernel.
It may only be 4.0.4 but without a lot of the bloat that comes 'standard' on the One V factory builds, so it does run a lot better.
But there are some, quirks...
Call Volume, at lowest is the loudest, click up one spot, and it's right.
Edit: Just being blind, found the switch for vibration on keypress.
Those are the only glitches, I've found so far, and I've been running it for two weeks, really making sure I put it through it's paces.

Custom kernels

Many custom kernels are available fior the one x, some of which are beast such as xm kernel or ncx's kernel. I wanted to ask users of both kernels whats the kernel that gives them best battery life. Please specify the version of ur kernel.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You should try them both and decide. I've been using the kernel by Alex which is mostly stock but has sweep2wake. Cheers!
try and test them both of yourself...no point asking others which one to go for...case close and waste of a thread

[Q] Question about Leankernal+Paranoid Android

Hi!
This is my first post on the xda Forums; I've just been a lurker for a while now. I am still learning the ins/outs of Smartphone modifications/rooting/roms etc, so forgive my noobyness.
I've recently (two days ago) Rooted my Rogers S3, and Flashed Paranoid Android 2.55 Onto it. I'm loving it! However The battery life is something I'm not too keen on, so I've been lurking google for hours upon hours, forums etc, and I'm seeing that a popular Kernal people are using to cut down on battery drainage + Smoothen things up, is LeanKernal.
+
Now, I've poked around quite a bit, and I've read through something like 75+ pages of this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845836
But just for the sake of not Bricking my phone / Digging a hole I'm not educated enough to get myself out of; I'd like to ask:
Is LeanKernal what I am looking for/compatible with, my P.A flashed Rogers S3?
Or any other tips for me?
Much appreciated!
Lean kernel is compatible with AOSP ROMs. The developer should have a clearly-marked download link.
That being said - if you can't find the answer you're looking for by yourself, don't flash it. It's very easy to brick a device by making one small mistake.

Lean kernel is designed for aosp ROMs but the new ones are based on a different Linux version. If you install paranoid android 2.55 with the newest lean kernel it will never boot. You need to either find am older lean kernel or flash the newest paranoidandroid.

I read people were using lean kernel 1.6 for paranoid android. I'm more than willing to try another compatible kernel if anyone has suggestions for a smooth one that can help with battery life extension

All the kernels get updated frequently. I'm using the Paranoidandroid 3.15beta and Tasks latest Underwear kernel and it's working fantastic.
Battery life if device, app and user specific so you'll have to just experiment.

Don't apologize. We all start somewhere. When I get off work I'll look into which lean kernel you can use. Give ktoonz a couple charge cycles to see how it's working before you start tweaking any of the performance settings.

Really there are none. There is shift and devil (dual boot kernels) but they don't work that great.

Bah, thanks anyway. I only wanted one so I could test smartass v2 with stock 4.4 xD
