Where did you take this information?
Have you try booting in recovery or download mode?

Well it looks like you just brick your phone. You might want to specify your issue in the title. Maybe someone will know if you can unbrick it.

Can u put in download mode
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I believe that command copied your recovery partition to some other partition.. Not completely sure though.
Try to boot into cwm and flash a backup. (hold power, home, vol up until you see blue text in upper left.)
Also don't put commands in your terminal unless your 100% sure what it does and you trust the source completely. You can brick your phone simply by typing a dd command and getting one letter of the line wrong.
pull your battery, replace,
hold volume down and home button, press power (keeping all 3 held)
you will be in download mode.
flash stock firmware from the development section for SGS3 with odin.
fixed
yea I've tried to pull battery and everything else under the sun but nothing boots
found fix.... toilet bowl & phone insurance haha
Try plugging into power source and booting into download mode (power, home, Vol down)
lol I've tried that numerous times no button or combo of buttons turns phone on or into bootloader/download
I do not think there is a way to fix this if the jig doesn't work

Re-read his post. The phone display doesn't need to be on in order to ODIN.
If the OP is lucky, his phone might still be able to odin. Just go through the motions and see if Odin finds anything to connect to.
1) Unplug battery 1 minute & put back in.
2) Press & hold down power/vol-down/home for 1 minute (should be long enough)
3) Click the up arrow
4) Plug in USB cable and hope Odin see's the phone.

Not a fix...its called insurance fraud...sigh such is the world today...sounds like that command overwrote the bootloader, if you can't get download mode to pop up...in which case I think a jtag mod would be able to unbrick your phone search for it on google.

That would be correct. Almost. I think mmcblk0p8 is an aboot and mmcblk0p1 is the modem. So you overwrote a aboot partition with a modem. Op where the hell did you get that command? So I wanted to flash my Epic to EG22 using this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183353
I odin'd the phone but used the clockwork mod .tar they listed, and also the modem.smd under phone, and unchecked F Reset. The Odin PASSED and reset but the phone did not boot back up. I've tried several power cycles but the phone still will not boot up.
Was there something in the process I should have not done, and is there anything I can do to get this phone to boot back up?

First of all RELAX! Take a break, go dor a walk, and then comeback to your phone.
Try taking out the battery and the memory card out and leaving bothout of the phone. Plug in your phone, it will look like it's gng to charge, try to go into download mode.
You can also try another USB port. Try another USB cable. Restart your computer.
I had something like thathappen to me the other day, and taking the batt and memory card out worked for me. Good luck my friend. Report back to see if it worked for ya.

Hmmm...out of curiosity, how long do u hold down the vol down+camera+power button? For some reason, when booting into CWM on CM7, if u hold down those 3 buttons for too long, you'll get continous reboots. Hold down the 3 buttons only until the lower 4 buttons on the screen turn on, then let go. Your phone will seem to reboot, but then actually boot into CWM.
This is assuming of course, that your holding down the 3 buttons and its continously rebooting. If this isn't the case, click on the link Kenny posted above n follow instructions. Good luck!

Sounds strange. What exactly did you flash before hand? From/kernel/mods anything.

Odin you noob. Why do you even waste time with posting such useless garbage? If you can't get back to stock from Odin then post.
I handed my phone to my mother to show her a picture and when she went to hand it to my aunt, my aunt dropped it. I didnt think nothing of it when I locked the screen but when I went to unlock it, my phone restarted and went to a straight black screen and started to vibrate over and over again. I tried to pull the battery and then re-insert it and boot into recovery but when recovery showed up and I went to restore to a previous ROM the phone rebooted itself and started vibrating again. Now I'm at the computer trying to place it into Download Mode. The screen pops up that says to either push Vol + for Download or Vol- for restart. When I press Vol+, the phone restarts and goes straight to a black screen again.
And I'm not a noob, I know what I'm doing my phone just started acting up
And I'm Running the AOKP ROM with Eugene's ICS Kernel with the Tmo_SGH-T989_LC8_Radio
What previous from were you trying to restore?? When you restore a nand back up you have to make sure that the rom you're restoring is the rom that's already installed. In other words if you wanted to restore a back up you would have needed to flash the correct rom before hand. Though I'm confused because if you did try and restore a previous rom say a cm9 back up and you have aokp currently installed it shouldn't work. Cwm will tell you there's a mismatch and it aborts the installation. My guess is this drop did some damage. Your phone isn't making it past post per say of your using pc terms. Can you try and boot back into cwm? You said download mode doesn't work. But does cwm?

maybe hardware problems if you dropped it, wasn't bricked, we usually say bricking a phone from bad flash, don't we? lol, i am not sure. try taking off sim card, micro sd card and battery then carefully put them back on next time if you have problems from drops etc........
Got to admit the whole "Brick" wording gets thrown around way too much for my liking and lets be honest if you are not a noob then you know all the steps to take in my opinion to try and restore your phone. If those steps dont work and you have researched the web then let Insurance kick in if you have it.
Not trying to flame or be an ass but just saying any non noob should know the steps to try and bring our phone back from the dead... I dont think starting a "Brick" thread should be on that list... Coming from the epic touch where the ICS kernel was bricking everyone its just makes me cringe when I see that word.... My bad man if you don't care for my opinion

Here is my 2 cents
Yes people jump the gun and post bricked phone threads but that's probably because they are panicking.. And yes I agree that people should use the search function and read whenever possible.. And yes people should be reminded to do so..
But if you have the time to criticize someone then why don't you try to help them too..
If you have nothing helpful to add then don't post anything
I like my Roms the way I like my women..... Clean and smooth
I had this same problem, when I tried to go in to recovery and do a restore it would reboot its self even while flashing a Rom.what I did was...go in to recovery and quickly clear cache before it reboot then go back and clear dalvik then go back and try to flash the same Rom you had installed. It did work for mange when I was trying to restore.
Hope this helps

Honestly, your the type of person everyone hates on xda.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
so you tried..
1. remove battery.
2. plug in phone to usb on computer with battery STILL OUT
3. while plugged in hold down volume up and down.
4. Still plugged in and still holding the volume up and down, insert your battery.
5. boom choose continue and find download mode.
If this doesn't get you to DL mode then either something broke hardware wise when you dropped it, OR your not being honest with what you did to cause the problem..
This morning while on the phone walking into work, my device suddenly dropped the call, and when I looked at it the screen was black, the samsung logo came up, and the Darkside splash screen appeared. The bar under the splash screen filled about maybe 1/4 of the way, before my phone began to go into an infinite boot loop. The only way for me to end the bootloop is to pull the battery out.
I've tried going into recovery mode, to no avail. I've also tried download mode... I can get to the point where I am asked if i want to continue on to download mode, or if I want to cancel. Once I select continue, it LOOKS as if i'm going to be able to get into download mode, but as soon as the Android logo appears, the screen quickly flashes blue, and the phone reverts to an endless boot loop.
I'm on TDJ's Darkside ICS 4.0.3, with the Venom 3 Kernel for TW (I've been using this all summer with no problems).
1) What would cause this sudden boot loop? The most recent app I added was Uno. I was also using the CPU Sleep app, but I only enable that when I know i'm not going to be near a charger. It was not enabled at the time that my device began boot looping.
2) Most importantly, HOW DO I FIX THIS? while I am uncertain of which type of brick this is, I am doubtful that it's a hard brick because I can still turn the device on, and get partially into download mode. From what I understand, a hard brick is one in which there is no power getting to the device, and not even the samsung splash appears.
I would GREATLY appreciate any and all help.
Go on internet and download unbrick sg2 tool. This might help since you cant get into recovery or download. This.
You're about the 4th person this has happened to in the past week. My phone is currently at MobileTechVideos having the power button replaced. It's $35 for the power button repair service. It's pretty much your only option that I have been able to determine - since it's a hardware issue, there is no "software" fix. I would not try flashing anything to the phone because it could randomly reboot in the middle of a flash; not good.

Since I was able to get int download mode, what i ended up doing was flashing CWM Touch Recovery, as it seemed that each time i used the volume or power keys the device would restart. I'm backup up now. I will probably unroot, wipe the device, go back to stock and take it to the tmo store in the morning. Being that it's a hardware issue, and I'm still under warranty, I should be able to get a warranty exchange. it sucks that I lose my ghost armor screen protector, though.

i had to use a method from remonpie to attempt to install unauthorized updates after rooting my phone. the method:
Step 5: Tap on build.prop > ES Note Editor. Make the following changes to ro.product.model and ro.product.manufacter:
Note: You can actually change this for any other device as well, by the way. We chose the Nexus S because it is the most supported phone.
ro.product.model = Nexus S
ro.product.manufacturer = samsung
i modified my .build file to read "Nexus S", once doing so it didnt succeed, so i rebooted the phone and now its just on a dead black illuminated screen. itll say samsung s3 then just illuminate a black screen.
ive reset the battery after 20 plus minutes and so forth. i did save the original file to another folder but it my laptop doesnt register the device, the phone when plugged in so i cannot modify the files.
HELP!!!

i cant access the system files because my computer doesnt recognize the phone now. odin does but when you say reflash the rom, im a noob, the only thing that i know to flash in odin was clockworkmod and that. tar file that you run through odin to root your device
alright, well im trying to install the newest cynagen rom right now but im getting a cant mount sdcard issue. my phone also fails to go into clockworkmod unless i run odin then remove reinstall the batt then run the up volume, home, pwr command. trying to put it in recovery anyother way just puts the phone in the stock recovery rather clockwork
Sounds as if you have cwm so download any Rom from the att section and put it on your micro sd. Boot into recovery and flash. Your back up and running. Vol+ and home button at the same time. Then power on

When phone is off: hold power, home, and vol up until you see the small blue text in the upper left, then let go. I think if you hold them too long it just boots normally.
If your in a boot loop pull the battery to power down.
after a headache some failed odin passes ive come to the conclusion that its a soft brick and am currently restoring the phone with the stock firmware now. ill get back to you in a second. fml, i never backed everything up via titanium neither shame on me
..reporting back. the factory restore was a success. for future reference i still am not sure how to attack the "cant mount sdcard" issue...now lets see how much has been lost, aside from my photos and contact i should be good
well wtf now my phone is consistently interrupted by a notification "unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped."
okay had to clear contact data and contact storage data. thank you google.
nowww i have reason to question that there may be misc disc space cluttering my internal drive because its only registering 400mb of free space of 12gb, when its a 16gb device...any advice?
If I recall correctly, es file explorer causes problems when you use it to edit build.prop. I always use root explorer and have not encountered any issues.
