Hi everyone. I have been flashing roms, radios, etc... for a while. I love this little phone! I have a quick question though. I usually would be able to root the phone before the latest update to 2.3.4. I wanted to run a PB31IMG.zip to downgrade but it doesn't recognize the PB31IMG.zip! It is looking for a PB31DIAG file. Has anyone tried renaming the file to the PB31DIAG file to downgrade? Just wondering. Thanks for any help!!
It's looking for several PB31***.zip files. A common mistake is to rename the file PB31IMG.zip.zip (Windows does this sometimes). Also, try reformatting your SD card to FAT32, even if it already is. Doesn't hurt to be safe.
Thanks!

I have actually ran into that before. It still will not see the file though. It is only PB31IMG in the folder then windows adds the .zip to it. It is weird.

OK, I reformated to FAT32 again and it saw the update. But, now it says Main Version is older! Update Fail! Do you want to reboot device?
What now?

If you are s-on you cant downgrade to a previous version, hboot wont let you. Follow this guide to unlock your bootloader, get root, downgrade, and get s-off. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258
Thanks again

What are you trying to do?
I'm not sure what your goals were by flashing the PC36IMG you chose too, that is a stock build. Before you do things with your phone, make sure you do aloooooooooooot of reading/forum surfing to make sure you are doing what you want.
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915 and download this PC36IMG.zip and then flash that...it will leave you with a a rooted (albeit w/out superuser which you can download separately) 1.47 build (upgrade to current radio/wimax/rom from there)

Is it not loading the PC36IMG.zip at all? Your memory card needs to be an SDHC or it wont load the PC36IMG.zip.

Flashing the file you did will not upgrade your PRI. This is noted in the thread where it is available for download. Flash the PC36IMG from the thread I showed you that should work.

I do apologize. Perhaps it should just be moved...
Moved where?
This is the q&a section. I think it's appropriate.
Ive looked a numerous threads adressing this issue and have not found a solution...
I need to upgrade to .92 but it's not working. It says it cannot find the image and a couple things flash on the screen too fast to read and nothing happens
I have tried everything:
1. reformatted the SD Card multiple times
2. renamed the file to PB31IMG (.zip and not .zip)
3. and every other suggestion
Please help
Redownload it from doug piston's website here http://dougpiston.com/files/Hboot/PB31IMG-hboot-0.92.0000.zip rename it to PB131IMG.zip, put it on the root of your fat32 formatted sdcard, and flash through hboot
Sent from my HTC Incredible
Done....still nothing. It see's the file-almost like it wants to work- but then, nothing...
Why is this so hard? I've done everything else one could do to a phone and everything has worked perfectly. This, NO.
Any other suggestions?
Ive heard that the newest version of Unrevoked3 will give you HBoot .92. If i'm already rooted can I re-root via Unrevoked??
I don't think it'll give you that, are you S-ON or S-OFF? It'll say at the top when you're in HBOOT.

im S-ON. How do i go about changing that
Here. Under Installation Instructions section. If you're rooted already, there's a zip file to download and place on the root of the SD card. The directions will explain how to do it.

Finally! Thanks, that worked.
And for everyone else who is having trouble uprgadring to HBoot .92:
Make sure you haves-off! Maybe this seemed to bonehead for people to suggest but it surely was my problem. Just flash the Unrevoked zip posted above....THEN go through the typical Hboot steps everyone suggests.

This should be what you are looking for. Make sure to follow the instructions.

I wouldn't recommend doing the leaks. Otherwise this will continue to happen to you. It happened to me and I was freaking out for weeks. Good luck.

what it means is, you shouldn't be messing with your phone without doing some reading and learning before messing with it.
but since i'm a nice guy i'll help you out...
"root of the sd card" means put it on the main directory of it... ie, if you are in windows and the sd card is the e: drive, put it on e: not a folder on e:.
Actually I would get the most up to date RUU that has been leaked.. 3.02.605.1... since it is from HTC it is signed by them and will flash in your bootloader with out needing to be rooted.
download this .zip
http://www.multiupload.com/RHYMY84TIN
rename the .zip to PG32IMG.zip you MUST spell this correctly and put it on the root of your sd card(just on the card, in no folder) turn off fast boot in settings under power.. shut down phone, boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power and follow the instructions on the screen. This will get you up to date..
Umm I tried it but.. it says wrong image...from the the bootloader screen... huhuhuhu

Maybe you need to find a real RUU .exe file not a .zip and get the rom.zip for it and re-name that to PG32IMG.zip.. you need to talk to Jcase he knows more than I do, but I was under the impression that since it is an RUU from HTC it should flash in even if S-ON.
also make sure you have the correct format of your SD-Card. fat32.
Thank you guys for the help and support.,
I did try to download that link and rename and put it on my sd card directly, renamed it. Power down went to boot loader screen .,I clicked on Fastboot-Bootloader and it says wrong image., and nothing happend..., it just went back to fastboot screen. sigh..... My phone is hopeless i guess... huhuhu
How should I format my sd card? to the correct 1?
uMM., mY sd card. has the correct format when i look into its properties FAT32 , I used the first leak .exe not the .zip ., maybe thats why i wont work... ., can u help me find .exe i guess? And how can i get in touch with Jcase? .Thanks.
I do know one thing, I received my replacement Dinc2 for my Fascinate with .4 on it. I used the RUU to downgrade to .3 . I wonder if an exploit in .3 for rooting was patched in the release version of .4

Wrong image indicates that the file you renamed PG32IMG.zip is not a valid ROM.zip file. Did you simply copy the RUU to the SD card and rename it? If so, that is your problem. You need to extract the ROM.zip from the RUU and rename that to PG32IMG.zip
I already renamed it., but it always says "No,wrong image" PG32IMG.zip .,
I already extracted it and it became a folder named PG32IMG.zip , I tried to go to boot loader and still nothing happend. Do i Have to place the contents of the folder dierectly to the sd card? Im so confused ., sorry. and Thank you.

2nd: Have you flashed any custom ROM??? If so, thats why you cannot S-OFF it, try any near-to-stock, froyo rooted rom and then try again, this will do the trick

Oops, wrong subforum, didn't realise.
Yes I'm running a custom ROM I'll try a Froyo-based ROM and see if that helps.
It's a shame that Revolutionary doesn't support this version of HBOOT, is there any way of 'tricking' Revolutionary to S-OFF the 0.75 HBOOT?

Moving to Q&A
You can always update bootloader... if you have a goldcard then put the attached file in the root of your sd-card, and then boot into bootloader and wait for it do do it's thing.. when it prompts you select yes. This will update your bootloader to version 0.93.1002
You shouldn't lose any data, but do make a backup of the ROM in recovery in case you get a bootloop.
Then run Revolutionary.

I downloaded the file and put it on the root sdcard... Bootloader seemed to just skip over the file though.
Do I need to change the text file in the zip to my CID or anything else? It doesn't like it
you need a goldcard, so it ignores the CID.. or actually.. what network are you on?
EDIT: Just noticed lol
Wait I'm downloading a Telstra RUU and I'll give you a new PB99IMG
try this. If not, then you can always use the RUU to do a full update, and then S-OFF and flash a custom ROM.
Thanks I'll give it a try.
I have four microSD cards at home and I've tried gold carding all of them... I don't know how successful I was cos I couldn't do what I wanted on the Desire HD

Okay, well I'm gonna get to sleep now but I'll give you some advice before you go.
If you can't update the bootloader with that, I'd suggest backing up your ROM (if you havent done so already), flashing the RUU to bring it up to the latest bootloader version, and then using revolutionary.
Once you've S-OFF'd with revo. Use android flasher to flash recovery (Note: your backup will not work if you do not flash the same version of recovery) and then do a full wipe and flash a ROM of your choice.
Would you happen to know where I can get the original Telstra RUU from? I think that might be my best bet.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks - this looks like it worked now HBOOT 0.93.0001, running revolutionary now.
Is there any benefit in upgrading HBOOT at all? What does 1.02.0001 offer?
Hboot 1.xxxx is the stock hboot for gingerbread. So it offers you nothing. By flashing a hboot like cm7 (most roms fit in this hboot), you get much more space for installing apps, because its /data partition is much bigger.
SwiftKeyed from dGB using Transparent XDA App
Ok, I did something stupid and now I think I bricked my phone.
I wanted to go back to stock by flashing an RUU and it failed. Naturally, I remembered I was S-OFF so I went and downloaded the alpharev hboot images required to go back to stock. However, I flashed the downgrader and forgot to flash the Stock HBOOT. I flashed the RUU and now my phone is S-ON and stuck on the wrong HBOOT and thus cannot flash the system partition. Is there anyway I can recover the phone? It is stuck on the HTC screen with 4 triangles on either side. I can access fastboot but can't do anything in there.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you flashed the AlphaRev downgrader HBOOT then the process to unroot using the PB99IMG.zip will restore your device to a working condition and S-ON. I have used this method to unroot many times, the HBOOT contained in the PB99IMG.zip will overwrite the AlphaRev downgrader HBOOT.
The last brick I recovered from was flashing a NEXUS ONE custom HBOOT to my Desire and even after that I was able to revive it.
