Re: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076 << thread i been trying to use.
On the third move (sh /sdcard/DHD/hboot)
it all works but it then says
954ee123699488613c5e0afd2d703c43 /sdcard/DHD/hboot_check.nb0
df4fd77f44993eb05a4732210d2eddc6 << CORRECT MD5
954ee123699488613c5e0afd2d703c43 /sdcard/DHD/hboot_orig0.bin the .files are different why?
then it says
IF the first and second MD5 Sums match, it went correct and you are safe to reboot.
IF the first and third MD5 sums match, it failed writing but this is NOT a fatal and is safe to REBOOT!
carrying on with if none match is isnt safe to reboot so do NOT REBOOT and seek help on forums..
Why do they not match? PLEASE HELP !!

The link in your post is to an old guide, although it should work for you as you have a Froyo rom.
For a more up to date method download the guide from post 7 of this:

Here is a direct link to attn1's aahk. This is the best and safest method imo.

I have tried the latest (as of 12.19.10) unrEVOked to no avail. I'm sure some of you will read this thread and flame me for not reading some 300+ posts in a forum somewhere; the truth is that I have read them but the directions are too hard to follow by date: it's not clear what is out-dated where.
Is this configuration root-able by some means? I have rooted 3 Eris and 2 D1, 2 Intercept. The idea is not foreign to me. I am not, however, willing to stake such a wonderful piece of equipment on speculation. The rules seem to change every couple of hours. I would like full root to be able to use Cyanogenmod. At hboot,my sd image scan says not img available. Is that normal?
Any help will be more than appreciated; I will make sure your name is touted among the ranks here at phandroid!
Thanks in advance.

Is your EVO a 0004 build? If so CM6 has camera issues with those EVOs.

[Q] 1.75.163.2 and S-OFF

Hi all,
Owner of an HD2 i recently switch to the Desire HD, unfortunatly i've installed the HTC update, here is my system actually
Android version : 2.2.1
BaseBand : 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2
Kernel : 2.6.32.21-g1e30168
[email protected] #1
Build Number : 1.75.163.2 CL301245 release keys
Software Number : 1.75.163.2
Browser version : Webkit 3.1
I would like to :
- Disable the simlock (lock to my provider actually)
- Get rid of these provider's apps
- Be able to flash every rom that i want
I've read a lot in the forum but was not able to found a solution, for what i've undertood there is no way to S-OFF post 1.72 version of the software because of security issues...
Is it possible to do this
- Downgrade to 1.32.405.6
- Root and S-OFF the phone
- Upgrade to the fully rooted WWE 1.72.405.3 (or 1.75 rooted if there is one)
Thanks for your lights ..
Ps : Hoo yes, is there any way to backup my actual rom (1.75) ..? Throught adb or something else..
Hi,
Unless your DHD had Radio S-OFF prior to the update there is no way back present. Give it a few weeks and a solution will have been found.

Telus HTC Desire HD 2.3.3 Root and Flash

Hello XDA forum!
I've been researching my topic for some time now and I noticed alot of vague information and the only usefull info seemed to be specific to each model... So, I have a Desire HD and my carrier is telus.
1. Is my phone branded or not? (There's not a bunch of telus apps or wallpapers, there is just one telus scene. Also it says HTC on the back where you would expect it to say telus)
2. Can you downgrade the Telus HTC Desire HD running 2.3.3 Gingerbread at this time? If so what tools would you use?
The reason I am doing this is because everything seems to be very vague information that, like stated above, seems to be specific to each post. However all the posts that I've read don't describe the methods used to identify key information or how to troubleshoot what to do if a step doesn't work (ex. Getting $ instead of #)
If someone could post back on this it would aid me greatly. I aim to downgrade, root, and flash Android Revolution HD and possibly a new radio to improve battery life and signal strength (which is non-existent in my basement)
My phone info is...
Android version:
2.3.3
HTC Sense version:
2.1
Baseband version:
12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M

Please if you have an answer or anything to say regarding my post please use full explanations so that this thread can be useful to other members/guests.
Thanks in advance!
PS. Any additional information you require from me don't hesitate to ask!
Now running Android Revolution HD!!
Ok so I found some key factors in this that I'd like to point out to anyone looking into rooting and flashing a custom rom.
First Downgrade
Settings > About Phone > Software Information > "Build number"
That is what you're looking at when searching for a downgrade. 1.32.405.6 is what you want to be at.
The downgrade guide I used is here.
Remember if your build number is above 2 you'll need to use section 2b and skip 2a
Make sure you download the attached folder at the bottom of the first post and the stock 1.32 ROM (link in section 1)
After this point I had a stock phone with 2.2 Froyo build number 1.32.405.6. My speakers did not work (no sound at all) and I could not connect to the mobile network which alarmed me at first thinking that Telus wouldn't like me hacking my phone or something x3
Second Root
Telus Desire HD - Rooting and Flashing
This was the first guide I tried to follow and it would have worked if it had simply added in that extra file and the commands:
Code:
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell
./data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start FBB00000 -end FFFFFFFF
Anyways I downloaded the files for this one (the light version since I had previously downloaded the PD98IMG.zip) and skipped to step B.b
I did the temproot successfully but the easy radio tool wouldn't work for me so I just used Visionary+ to permroot and Then I got the superuser request on my phone and the radio finished rapidly.
Went very smoothly after that.
Third Flashing!
Finally the time came when I was ready to flash my shiny new ROM. I read through step C of the above mentioned guide but decided to go through with the proccess mentioned in [ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 6.1.3 since it was more of a do it yourself thing and I like starting clean (it wants you to run superwipe from cwm before flashing the new rom)
I would recommend using a card reader rather than mounting as a disk drive cause it's more reliable.
Hope this helps someone!
Not sure if this has been said or not but:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/
It's as easy as "download, run" and it works brilliantly!
I suggest you just boot a Ubuntu Live CD (it's not as bad as it sounds, I actually liked it the first time I tried it and now I have it installed by my Windows) and just run the command:
wget http://droid.neolobster.com/roms/aahk-25102011.zip && unzip aahk-25102011.zip && sudo ./hack-ace.sh
Click to collapse
in terminal, press "1" and be afk for 5 mins.
Doesn't erase your data, doesn't format your phone, doesn't downgrade your Android OS. It...it just works!
Good luck with it

I was just about to ask the same question, and if you can return to stock, but then I checked the Advanced ACE Hack Kit (AAHK) thread:

Where it says:
Easy return to stock for AT&T, Telus and WWE CID HTC__001

Yeep! It sure does work I tried it and flashed the android revolution hd rom. Brilliant thanks a lot! Only thing is the sound seems a little different. It is much louder but also has this tinny effect at times. I will patch the cm7 audiofix and see how it goes.
Go to htcdev dot com, you'll find the official way to do it by HTC

[Q] Original and Rooted ROMs

Hey Peeps,
I'm quite new to "rooting" smartphones so please bear with me here.
I have an HTC Desire (model A8181). I'm using it as-is but the built-in memory for applications is so small, my old computer from 1995 still beats it. So, I have come across several forum posts about "rooting" the phone. Also, some applications I need to install requires root access.
For the sake of safety, I want to obtain the Original ROM as well as a custom rooted ROM. Should the root fail, I can at least failover to the original ROM.
I'm not sure how to look up and search for this so I'm going to post the System Information here and pray that someone might be able to assist me in this regard (instructions on how to root the phone would also be appreciated).
Android: 2.2.2
Baseband: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel: 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c ([email protected]#1)
Build: 2.29.405.14 CL345208 release-keys
Software: 2.29.405.14
This phone was obtained in South Africa, if that makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] EFS Pro not working - empty partition list

Sorry, not allowed to post question to EFS Thread, not enough postings. Hope somebody here can help.
Rooted Samsung Captivate Glide running original ATT Gingerbread with instructions from original XDA thread. Terminal-app, nandroid and wifi-tether work well (rooted).
Wanted to use EFS Pro for backup before upgrading to ICS.
Installed EFS Pro 2.0.33.Release from above thread on Windows XP SP3. Installed Samsung USB Drivers. Installed .NET 4.0.
Installed BusyBox v1.20.2-Stericson on the Samsung Phone after EFS Pro complained about it missing.
EFS Pro seems to start OK (why the heck can't i copy&paste this text *sigh*):
Initializing ADB server... Okay.
Checking device, please wait...
Device is Perm Rooted!
BusyBox is installed on device!
Ready...
But then when i click on "Backup" in EFS Pro, it just shows an empty Device Partition table. No clicking around on Device Filter, endable/disable MD5 checksum/Refresh will help.
Device Info shows (stupid app not letting me copy&paste that output):
--- Hardware Information ---
Connected Device SN.: ....(seems ok)...
Device Manufacturer: SAMSUNG
Device Model: SAMSUNG-SGH-I927
Product Code: SGH-I927ZKAATT
Hardware Version: REV0.1
--- Firmware Information ---
PDA Version: I927UCKI3
Baseband Version: I927UCKI3
CSC Version: Unknown
--- Software Information ---
Kernel Release: 2.6.36.3-I927RUXKJ5-CL652095
Kernel Version: #3 SMP PREEMPT Fri Oct 14 15:47:29 KST 2011
ROM Build: SGH-I927-user 2.3.5 GINGERBREAD UCKI3 release-keys
Android Version: 2.3.6
BusyBox Version: 1.20.2-Stericson
SU Bindary Version: 3.0.3
The only thing that looks unlike other screenshots is the unknown CSC Version, and i have no clue what that is.
I couldn't find a description of how to create a partition file. PLayed around a bit but no clue what the entries there mean, and couldn't find a documentation in EFS Professional for it either.
So, what should i do now. Anything i did do wrong ?
Older 1.12.6 works
Found older EFS Pro 1.12.6 somewhere on the net, installed, and it work (backed up EFS). Status output was the same.
So i guess there is a problem with the newer 2.0.33. Oh well. Will send a PM as well to the author.
