[Q] 1.75.163.2 and S-OFF - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Owner of an HD2 i recently switch to the Desire HD, unfortunatly i've installed the HTC update, here is my system actually
Android version : 2.2.1
BaseBand : 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2
Kernel : 2.6.32.21-g1e30168
[email protected] #1
Build Number : 1.75.163.2 CL301245 release keys
Software Number : 1.75.163.2
Browser version : Webkit 3.1
I would like to :
- Disable the simlock (lock to my provider actually)
- Get rid of these provider's apps
- Be able to flash every rom that i want
I've read a lot in the forum but was not able to found a solution, for what i've undertood there is no way to S-OFF post 1.72 version of the software because of security issues...
Is it possible to do this
- Downgrade to 1.32.405.6
- Root and S-OFF the phone
- Upgrade to the fully rooted WWE 1.72.405.3 (or 1.75 rooted if there is one)
Thanks for your lights ..
Ps : Hoo yes, is there any way to backup my actual rom (1.75) ..? Throught adb or something else..

Hi,
Unless your DHD had Radio S-OFF prior to the update there is no way back present. Give it a few weeks and a solution will have been found.

Might work normally, but needs a temp root that you can't get, catch 22.

[Q] Release Keys ??

Hi guys,
I tried to look through the forum regarding my query but I was unable to get an answer regarding my query.
I have a HTC Desire HD with Build Number - 1.84.720.3 CL33521 release-keys
I want to downgrade and using the steps mentioned in a couple of threads on XDA i was able to secure a link to this -
PD98IMG_Ace_hTC_Asia_India_1.84.720.3_Radio_12.28g .60.140f_26.05.05.27_M3_release_175158_signed.zip
Now my query revolves around the release keys - my build number has different release key and the Stock Rom is 175158, what happens when I use this RUU (175158).
Will the release keys change, will I have to make changes to RUU or whatever.
I am newbie here and I have no idea whether my question makes any sense or not .
Reason for my query -
I have HTC Legend, I first used the XDA forums to root and install custom rom on my legend. When later on I downgraded and used official RUU from HTC, I was unable to get the FROYO Update and the error that would be displayed was something related to release keys.
Thanks a lot in advance

Telus HTC Desire HD 2.3.3 Root and Flash

Hello XDA forum!
I've been researching my topic for some time now and I noticed alot of vague information and the only usefull info seemed to be specific to each model... So, I have a Desire HD and my carrier is telus.
1. Is my phone branded or not? (There's not a bunch of telus apps or wallpapers, there is just one telus scene. Also it says HTC on the back where you would expect it to say telus)
2. Can you downgrade the Telus HTC Desire HD running 2.3.3 Gingerbread at this time? If so what tools would you use?
The reason I am doing this is because everything seems to be very vague information that, like stated above, seems to be specific to each post. However all the posts that I've read don't describe the methods used to identify key information or how to troubleshoot what to do if a step doesn't work (ex. Getting $ instead of #)
If someone could post back on this it would aid me greatly. I aim to downgrade, root, and flash Android Revolution HD and possibly a new radio to improve battery life and signal strength (which is non-existent in my basement)
My phone info is...
Android version:
2.3.3
HTC Sense version:
2.1
Baseband version:
12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernel version:
2.6.35.10-gdc4b908

Build Number:
2.43.661.1 CL70542 release-keys
Software number:

Browser version:
Webkit/533.1
Please if you have an answer or anything to say regarding my post please use full explanations so that this thread can be useful to other members/guests.
Thanks in advance!
PS. Any additional information you require from me don't hesitate to ask!
Now running Android Revolution HD!!
Ok so I found some key factors in this that I'd like to point out to anyone looking into rooting and flashing a custom rom.
First Downgrade
Settings > About Phone > Software Information > "Build number"
That is what you're looking at when searching for a downgrade. 1.32.405.6 is what you want to be at.
The downgrade guide I used is here.
Remember if your build number is above 2 you'll need to use section 2b and skip 2a
Make sure you download the attached folder at the bottom of the first post and the stock 1.32 ROM (link in section 1)
After this point I had a stock phone with 2.2 Froyo build number 1.32.405.6. My speakers did not work (no sound at all) and I could not connect to the mobile network which alarmed me at first thinking that Telus wouldn't like me hacking my phone or something x3
Second Root
Telus Desire HD - Rooting and Flashing
This was the first guide I tried to follow and it would have worked if it had simply added in that extra file and the commands:
Code:
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell
./data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start FBB00000 -end FFFFFFFF
Anyways I downloaded the files for this one (the light version since I had previously downloaded the PD98IMG.zip) and skipped to step B.b
I did the temproot successfully but the easy radio tool wouldn't work for me so I just used Visionary+ to permroot and Then I got the superuser request on my phone and the radio finished rapidly.
Went very smoothly after that.
Third Flashing!
Finally the time came when I was ready to flash my shiny new ROM. I read through step C of the above mentioned guide but decided to go through with the proccess mentioned in [ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 6.1.3 since it was more of a do it yourself thing and I like starting clean (it wants you to run superwipe from cwm before flashing the new rom)
I would recommend using a card reader rather than mounting as a disk drive cause it's more reliable.
Hope this helps someone!
Not sure if this has been said or not but:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/
It's as easy as "download, run" and it works brilliantly!
I suggest you just boot a Ubuntu Live CD (it's not as bad as it sounds, I actually liked it the first time I tried it and now I have it installed by my Windows) and just run the command:
wget http://droid.neolobster.com/roms/aahk-25102011.zip && unzip aahk-25102011.zip && sudo ./hack-ace.sh
Click to collapse
in terminal, press "1" and be afk for 5 mins.
Doesn't erase your data, doesn't format your phone, doesn't downgrade your Android OS. It...it just works!
Good luck with it

I was just about to ask the same question, and if you can return to stock, but then I checked the Advanced ACE Hack Kit (AAHK) thread:

Where it says:
Easy return to stock for AT&T, Telus and WWE CID HTC__001

Yeep! It sure does work I tried it and flashed the android revolution hd rom. Brilliant thanks a lot! Only thing is the sound seems a little different. It is much louder but also has this tinny effect at times. I will patch the cm7 audiofix and see how it goes.
Go to htcdev dot com, you'll find the official way to do it by HTC

can someone make a cwm-version that does not go lock the bootloader? sorry for my bad english ...
Hi
when I install the update, the phone doesn't boot and I have to remove the battery in order to boot into the old version.
My phone:
HTC Wildfire S
Android version
2.3.5
HTC Sense version
2.1
Software number
2.13.401.2
Kernel version
2.6.35.10-ga66971c (11/8/2011)
unlocked using htcdev
rooted using :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431969
Any idea why I can't update?
What does the update do? Is there a changlog somewhere?
Thats because you don't have the factory recovery. My advice is to not update. Use the search feature or look down a couple of older threads and you will find a more elaborate answer.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S
seems htc employs a new compression algorithm for the rom.zip in the ruu. I was not able to extract the image files from it. can please somebody try and confirm?
ArchLinux kde 4.8 (Ark+Zip).
Works fine.

did you run the ruu with wine or how did you get the rom.zip out of the ruu.exe?
I used wine under linux but i tested now with windows 7 64 bit (7-zip is the best way to extract rom.zip) works fine.
PS: Excuse me for my english ...

[Q] Only want bloatware gone!?!

Hi!
Got a new desire hd A9191 after I smashed the screen on my old one
I know its now an old phone model but decided on another dhd as theyre more than good enough for me
I got the first one 3-4 years ago, upgraded to a Samsung galaxy s3 when my contract ran out 18 months later but really didnt like the s3 compared to my dhd (believe it or not!) so sold the s3 and stuck with my dhd
Anyways...
What id like to do is to get rid of the bloatware that comes with a new phone
Ive looked through a load of threads but they are either outdated, not supported anymore, have dead links (probably due to the age of the phone (and my question!)) or are more about flashing a custom rom
Also some of what ive read is well beyond my understanding and I don't want to be starting yet another "help me ive messed my phone up" thread!
What I do understand is that to delete stock apps I need root access to my dhd
There are apps on the app store that easily delete stock apps but you need root access for them to work
So could someone please tell me either an up to date tool to use or an up to date thread to follow that will get my dhd rooted
Am looking at the VISIONary tool at the mo due to the software version im running (see below) as per
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076
Was just going to do step one and use the VISIONary tool to root my dhd and not worry about step 2 and 3 Is this any good?!?
Some details...
android version 2.2
baseband version 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
kernel version 2.6.32.21-gf3f553d [email protected]#1 Thurs Oct 28 13:24:11 CST 2010
build number 1.32.405.6 CL278359 release-keys
software number 1.32.405.6
browser version WebKit 3.1
My dhd is in brand new out the box condition
Ive not done any updates or downloaded any apps yet
Many thanks for reading!!

Hi bananagranola
Thank you for your reply
This is one of the tools I looked at but support has been stopped and didnt think it would work for my dhd after reading this (im on froyo 2.2)
glevitan:
First Line in the warning...this Is just for stock devices. Will only work in gb because froyo will not allow to unlock the bootloader....
Do I need to update to gb before using the easy ace tool?!?
Many thanks
Matt
Yes, you will need to run a RUU.
Ive connected my dhd to my broadband and had the 2.3.5 update pop up so will run that and then go through the ace root tool
Thanks for taking the time to reply again!
Matt
