Few n00b questions.
Firstly, how do i flash a nightly on my phone? lets say im running ofw 2.2 SEA edition? Do i follow the same procedure as if to flash RC1... do i also need to flash gapps similarly.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
Third, i have noticed that there is an issue with network and wi-fi when i flash cm7 RC1 over the nordic sbf. when i go back to official 2.2 SEA there is no hassle at all. Since i live in india i was wondering if that was the issue. I can easily take care of the network problem using "baseband switcher for defy" but it still doesnt help the wi-fi problem.
My question is.. will using the new BOOTSEA nightly solve this problem. I am assuming from the name is boot"SEA" im assuming its built southeastasia specific.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
Thanks

--> I'd say install RC1 and gapps first, then try a nightly by just wiping cache and Dalvik - no need to install gapps again since they're on your phone now. If you install a BOOT version and want to go back to an earlier CM7 nightly, then you might want to start from scratch, reflash froyo and install RC1 + gapps again.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
--> mostly up to date, but I don't worry about gapps too much as I believe that the Market gets updated automatically anyway (but I might be wrong about that). On the OP, the link to the gapps should show you up to date versions; but read the comments on there - very important.

---> same here my wifi DL speed was really bad for the last month or so on CM7; only after BOOT179-4 install, my wifi speed somewhat got back to normal.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
---> My camera and video worked on RC1 (and earlier) but video recording had some chopiness at times. Around July 11th nightly, Quarx released a camera fix (in that nightly) that solved the problem for me. But then days later, on newer nightly builds, I got the FC problem on video camera (same as you but red lens here). Then with BOOT179-4, camera was fine again and so the wifi speed; so all good for me.
--------> I really don't know what's going on with the video camera: many poeple have problems and many have it working on every nightly builds. It has been a problem from day one for Quarx on CM7-jordan... You have to try and see which build works for you I guess. And like you said, BOOT-SEA definitely looks like something you should try - many people liked it and many people say yesterday nightly is the best for them so far... so go on and have fun with testing
---> Before you do more testing though, you can always do a backup from the custom recovery so it will be easy for you to restore your current phone state -if nothing improves. I do this all the time: stock recovery factory reset, nordic flashing, RC1 install then restore my (BOOT179-4 now) backup.
Please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.

i went thru the whole FAQ but my doubts are regarding the nightlies which it doesnt address hence the thread.
thx for the concern though.
downloaded the BOOTSEA, but there is another file "cm7-110726-0018-BOOTSEA-Jordan.zip.md5sum" mentioned below it. ( there are similar md5sum files for all nightlies...) are they essential ? and how do i use them.
wanted to clarify before proceeding.

Md5 files are to verify your download is not corrupted one. Which you can compare the md5 after downloading the zip file and regenerating the md5 of downloaded file and check against the one in the server.

No problem.
Go read here on the official CM7-jordan thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654&page=943
And from post 9429 particularily; pretty much goes in the same direction I was pointing at regarding the wifi and video camera...
How's the BOOTSEA doing for you?
The nightly ones is just the output that the ones who are working on the rom ups to us. Normally have all that part on topic that say "next version:..."
If you wanna try the nightly one, use as the *.zip that you download when got the "rc1 v2" for exemple. So wipe the phone, choose install from a zip of the sdcard and choose the *.zip, been it the rc1 or the nightly build.
The md5sum file is the one that contains the 5sum from the file. Its nornaly given when you have to download a big file and have fear to corrupt the file. If you use linux, go on terminal and type "5sum file" when file is the name of any file that you have. It will give you a big number. This is the 5sum. The *.md5sum have the 5sum of the respective *.zip nightly rom.

Hello
I cant post in Devel thread , so i have hopefully put it in right place and home Chromium reads it and posts in devel theme for fix if any,
Thing is i used iGo 9.x with HTC with my earlier rom form him (v8) - it worked both - landscape and Portrait. Now with last version
screen glitch appeared when it was tearing - so i fixed it with suggestion in build.prop - debug.composition.type = gpu.
Tearing gone, everything fine and smooth, but igo now only in portrait mode.
u turn phone , api second tries to switch to kandscape and then turns instantly back to portrait.
Formatted all phone (Factory reset(dalvik, cache etc), format data and system) , restored base rom,
Installed, added igo - same, but with tearing screen.
Igo works fine with any other rom , i Like the smoothness and responsibility of rom. Awsome work Chromium_ :good:
If there is/someone has a pinpoint for me what to try ?
Andrus.
Not really sure how to fix this, but you could try flashing the Tearing Fix (in the second post of the ChromiumROM thread) rather than manually editing the build prop. There are a few other changes that you may have missed. Like I said, this may not fix anything but i guess its worth a try. Good luck, and thanks for the kind words
Also in the future you should post in the Q&A section instead of general.

HeY, Chromium_
To report back i reflashed phone with ur rom , then added fix, flashed gmail apps - all went smooth but still the bug was there.
I took CM10_VJ_4.1.2_V3.1_with_GApps - flashed and it seems to be working as its supposed,
I think it has to do soemthing with build.prop settings.
Got to dig a bit in build.prop files - to see what is different , ok i get 4.1.2 and 4.2.2. are bit differet but still ... i'd like to know what is the "bug".

Some Question about this ROM
Hi,
my Ace2 is still running under Stock Android 2.3.6. and I would like to Upgrade to CM.
For me stability and a working phone are more important than having the latest android Version, so my question is - which CM Version would you recommend? CM11 or is CM10.2 more stable? And is the latest version also the most stable one?
Is it correct that the only issue with CM11 is the Live streaming problem and with CM10.2 the memory leaks reported by some users- or are there more problems with these ROMS? A well working GPS is also important for me - is this the case?
And how difficult would it be to go back to stock 2.3.6. if CM is not working well for me?
Sorry for all the question and thanks in advance!

Flash chrono kernel..1014 build got a kernel broken...
@hackstorm1989
I have the GT-I8160L too.
This ROM specifically i haven't tried yet, but I've installed 2 different builds of NovaFusion CM11 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568105) and now I'm running J-TEAM AOSP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588054).
As TeamCanjica, both these ROMs are for the GT-I8160, but can be installed on GT-I8160L by changing the lines in the updater-script of the ROM (META-INF/GOOGLE/ANDROID/) where it checks the model of the device. I also read that the tee folder (system/lib/) of the ROM must be replaced by a copy of a tee folder from a running GT-I8160L firmware with SIM and carrier services properly working.
I've followed this guide:
http://brasildroid.com.br/showthread.php?t=23729
So, just by checking the updater-script of teamcanjica CM11, i GUESS it could be installed on GT-I8160L through the same 2 steps that i did with the other cited ROMs.
Also, I remember seeing other members running these ROMs on the L version while reading these 3 threads. I really wanna know what exactly differences are between these 2 device versions.
Please anyone let me know and correct me if I've posted any wrong information.
@soraxx
I can´t post in the main thread yet (10 post treshold), but maybe you read this or someone can copy this into the main thread.
I had exactly the same problem (audio but no video picture) and a simple change from stock browser to firefox solved it - Maybe it works for you too.
This should be main thread from now on
Same problem

I don´t agree with your statement that everything is working with the 07/08 build. I am using that build and the camera video recording is definitely bugged.

Problem with Cyanogenmod 7.2 for XPeria Play (CDMA/Zeusc)
Cyanogenmod 9.1 works beautifully on my phone, but when I tried to install Cyanogenmod 7.2, the following error message keeps popping up immediately on the first boot: "the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly"
I can't do much of anything else other than to keep closing the error message. I ended up putting Cyanogenmod 9.1 back on it, but I sure would like to try 7.2 to see how gingerbread 2.3.7 works.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Did some digging, and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28929283&highlight=my+version#post28929283
Agraceful's modified version works without issue. Also, I noticed that when booting into recovery after flashing the boot.img from his zip, using the volume keys works (just like cm9, just like described here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_zeusc), where as with the official cm7.2, I had to use the home key to enter recovery.
cm is a lot nicer than stock gb, but why to use it on the gaming device like play, where gamepad doesnt work with this rom?

Haven't tried that yet, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for that.
I'm running the latest nightly of Cyanogenmod 9. To be honest I don't know why it's a 'nightly,' I haven't had any problems with it. If anything it's better, because now FPSE works for me (I think the build.prop is different or something).
I would love to get a working version of Cyanogenmod 7 where the touchpads work with all my emulators. I'm mainly concerned about N64oid and ePSXe. I think the touchpads worked with agraceful's version of CM7 on ePSXe, but the circle button kept backing me out. N64oid ran super fast (much faster than CM9), but no touchpads.
There's all these cool gaming ROMs, but most of them are for r800i. Not too many options for r800x...

Hmm... I checked out the link you were talking about, there's a file at the bottom called "
cm-7-20131222-FXP-zeus.zip".
I have r800x which is zeusc... would it be ok to put that on my phone, or is that a bad idea?
@Paul R I don't think so that would be a good idea.. maybe @darkharbinger might help us with this answer as I know he is working on a different version of a ROM for r800i..
and cm7 is faster then cm9 for the play.. I have tried that too..
if someone could help me (@Bakisha) in building a 210/700MB kernel for cm7 ROM as size is very small of the ROM even with Full Gapps and I don't like transferring APK.s to System as mostly they end up in FC's or errors..

I have another question. I was using Link2SD with Cyanogenmod 9 (the latest nightly) without issue.
But with Cyanogenmod 7.2, CWM Recovery does not recognize the sd-ext. It says "sd-ext not found, skipping sd-ext backup" or something like that.
Is there a way to make this work?
Also, sorry if this is a stupid question, but can I flash the CM9 kernel temporarily to backup and restore, then flash back to CM7? Or will this cause problems?
Edit: I just tried it. It worked fine, as far as I can tell. So, is there any way for me to install the version of Clockwork mod from CM9 onto CM7?
AM JUST SHARING DARK NIGHTMARE's ROM, AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING
I DONT KNOW WHETHER ITS WORKING OR NOT OR IT HAS RIL BUG OR NOT AND IT IS REALLY 5.1 OR 5.0.2
SOMEBODY REPORT ME AFTER FLASHING IT. (AM NOT FORCING TO FLASH)
:highfive:
Mod edit: Links removed
is this rom working properly
Wow caps, calling " @dark_nightmare : is this one yours? And do you give permission to share this, Will love to try it if you do, thanks in advance"
For op, have you seek permission to share this one mate? Just asking. Thank you for the heads up anyway.
Oh this is Dark-nightmares build, i guess it cannot be fake then. May be it has ril bug or something like that. Thats why he has not published. Anyway, i got lots of time today. So will flash this and check.

Thanks for downloading and flashing...
No Luck
Same problem that we were facing with SOKP returns, the rom boots works till the setup shows insert sim card, then reboots and shows android is starting(updating apps) and then bootloops....
But CM12.1 got published at YiRom !!!
Not Working
Not working tested it ends in bootloop every time...
OK guys, back again. The Rom boots up fine.
But unfortunately it has RIL bug. And the problem with reboot during set up is because of wifi issue.
I had flashed the rom without any gapps and the system rebooted normally.
Everything worked fine. But when i tried to turned on wifi, boom, reboot. Keeps rebooting.
So guys, for now don't flash this ROM. Until the bugs are fixed.
Thanks...
