How about a flashable zip for those of us without access to a PC?
If ya use cwm, u can use the ota update from the nexus general area, did it last night. Back to Rasbean already though.
I keep getting "error 7" when attempting to flash it. I've been trying since 10pm last night. Probably just fastboot it tonight when I get home. I am on IMM76D, but it is the "odexed rooted stock" version that was posted when ICS was released. Sigh.

This reeks of a way to get members to sign up for a new forum..
You took the same exact files Gonzo got from the Sprint store (and never credited him mind you), put them all in one zip file instead, re-hosted those and also re-hosted Odin then came to the XDA dev section with a link pointed to a forum to get those files and with a disclaimer about not re-hosting the files.. Is this some sort of joke?

Lol I think you need to check your sources before throwing stones. Sextape is quite possibly the single largest source of Samsung leaks for our community.
Yes, he has his own forum where he posts things but he also posts them as available for download here. There are one or two things which are sxtp-developers exclusives that yes he uses to get people to his forum but he doesn't advertise those ones here.
Yes, someone else may have posted the same files from a different source but that doesn't mean that Sextape stole it from him.
As for the no mirrors and such? Every developer, poster, etc on XDA has the right to say they don't want something mirrored elsewhere. It helps maintain the integrity of the files and ensures that credit is given where credit is deserved. Did Sextape develop these? Well we really don't know. We just know that he somehow got access to the file and posted it for the rest of us. Does he deserve credit, even gratitude for putting his neck on the line for us? I sure think so. If you disagree, just don't hit his thanks button. If that doesn't cut it for you and you feel others need to be involved, report him to the mods. They can be the ones to make the decision and settle things fairly.
So in the future rather than degrade and deride lets try to look at it from both sides. Its like my momma always said, "Son if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all."

Well, I thank the OP for posting these files!
I have a nice, clean install of JB, now fully rooted and ready to rock. Thanks again!
this worked awesome for me. Thanks very much from this noob.
Update: now re-rooted and good to go. sweet jelly!
If I have flashed my phone over to work on Page Plus, which is a prepaid phone company that works on Verizon's network, might this mess it up? I'm scared to start flashing modems over, since I don't exactly know what changed when they flashed me to Page Plus. I can't afford to lose that.
Thx in advance...

Yeah. Big fat f$%@ you buddy. Sexxtape has been doing leaks for the Epic Touch forum for quite a while. There's nothing wrong with having more sources and mirrors to files that we need to find. You have no idea how hard it is to find a root method for the Evo 4G right now, because all the mirrors to tools went down not too long ago and took the files with them.
Multiple hosts for similar tools are always good thing, and Sextape is legit. So shut up and put up. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

I didn't notice there was a page 2.
Me: calls out poster for being a ****, by being a ****, in defense of an awesome developer. See apology of poster. Now feels like a ****, for being a ****.
In other news: I got my girlfriend an GS2 Epic Touch last night, running the leak FI03 on both our phones. Rock solid build, pretty much on par with FF18. So I am looking to put her Nexus 4G on craigslist. Should I be flashing this file to return to a stock setup? Will it be ok for activation? Currently running CM9 on it, and that doesn't do well with Activations. I plan on keeping the bootloader unlocked for the next person, but if it can't be helped, no biggie.

why are you making multiple threads about the same thing?
Yeah man...just use Odin and go back to stock D118...fairly easy.
@ luvjones305
I would've expected someone who has been here almost a year to know how to search or at least not to spam the forum with reposts.
The "official update" will probably suck anyways. I would just wait until one of the developers has a ROM ready. I'm sure it wont be long
uh huh
first of all yea i signed up a year ago it don't mean im on here 24 hours like i don't have a life an if you cant help don't post nothing on here go cry some were else an i already search through here
It is physically painful to read your posts, I mean come on "yea"? Seriously? And that wouldn't even be such a big deal if you weren't a total prick to everyone, whether they were legitimately trying to help you or not. I am hard pressed to think of anyone who is anywhere near as big a prick as you manage to come across as (assuming you're actually not a total prick when not protected by the anonymity of the "interwebs").

So that means the forums are segregated now? Gotta stay with your own kind and can't look at what's going on with other devices? I'm all over the sgs family, nexus boys, general, android and ot. It's kinda nice seeing dev from all over. Integration is good.
I don't deny that, just trying to avoid the off chance someone flashes a Rom not for their Galaxy S variant and has a "DOH!"moment
Haha hell no man. I've already spent the 2 bucks at radio shack for my jig. Only had to use it once. I mostly just trawl the themes and apps for other sgs's but I love watching people loose their minds when an ota hits like the op here. Lots of craziness in general for yall right now.
You should see the n1 now. 2.3 dropping for those guys and they have one thread about it, over 150 posts, and only two people on stock to pick it up. That's how it should be.

I was curious if there was any plan on making a flashable tar for Odin to return the phone to stock just in case you are unable to get into recovery and are trying to recover from a softbrick. Also would probably be the easiest way to get the phone ready for any warranty issues! Thanks

No doubt. I'm very hesitant to begin rooting/roming this bad boy without a good stock rom to revert back to JIC.
That post was from October 25. Fyi. Not all of us can donate after spending 600+ on our own phones. Not being negative, just stating that this message can be read by other devs to get their attention. Why is everyone here focused on one dev when there are a handful now who are more than capable?

Yeah, that post is from October and he still don't have the phone even though he was the first one here and has done A LOT already without the phone in hand. If you don't know then don't chime in. You want something, well you gotta give something in return.
There were plenty of bounties going around for different devs and they got there's within a week even though they hadn't done anything yet for the phone.
I know there are a handful that are capable, but it's obvious they haven't done it yet, Have they?
FYI it was a suggestion for you to donate not a demand. You were asking to get a file and I pointed to the best way to get it.

It was just my opinion dude. I never asked for anything, just bumped the thread. it's unfortunate that he hasn't had enough bounty to get his phone while others did, but we still got a great ROM and kernel from them. They didn't run away with the money. I appreciate what bubby has done and have nothing against him. My statement about not being able to donate was just to share that I would if I could. I am aware I am not being forced. there are great devs here and wish they could all have devices to help us move forward. All we can do is wait, not rushing anything, but raising awareness for other interested devs that could help Bubby.

I've noticed a lot of the download sites have been sucking lately, so I thought sharing the ROMS as torrents would be a good way to remedy the situation.
I will start out with a few and hope to build in the coming days. If any of the versions I put up need updating, please point that out as it'll be hard to keep track of myself further down the line. Also, feel free to throw out suggestions of anything you want to see up here.
If you are not familiar with torrents, look here: http://www.utorrent.com/help/guides/beginners-guide
Essentially download utorrent, install it, and open the .torrent file I posted with the utorrent program. It will then download the file directly from me and anyone else who is sharing the file.
Make sure all proper ports are forwarded and that you have DHT and local peer discovery enabled in utorrent.
You may also download directly to your phone using an app such as ttorrent (pro version recommended) for android. Just open the .torrent file using the ttorrent app on your phone.
Oh, and one last thing. SEED SEED SEED!

That's how the internet works. If someone makes something available for mass consumption, the more mirrors the better. How many legit files/links out there are gone forever thanks to megaupload disappearing?
If you don't want something shared, don't share it in the first place.

Well that may be so, but some things it's better to ask out of respect. Plus, Jerdog (the moderator for this section) said he thought it wouldn't be a problem with xda "staff". He did say that you should get the dev's permission first.

You can be a **** about it or you could use some etiquette. Wiki's explanation of it is
Rules of etiquette encompass most aspects of social interaction in any society, though the term itself is not commonly used. A rule of etiquette may reflect an underlying ethical code, or it may reflect a person's fashion or status. Rules of etiquette are usually unwritten, but aspects of etiquette have been codified from time to time.

You mean for the different modems and stock roms? I just tried but I can't get any of those. Seems like multiupload is totally down. If you have all those files somewhere you can easily create torrents yourself. Its just a matter of having that spare bandwidth to front the first couple peers.

How hard is it to create a sytem dump yourself? Sure, it's an inconvenience, but really, how hard is it? Flash your phone back to stock, take the OTA, and then use adb and create a tar of /system on the sdcard and you're done. If you really need it for something that bad, you can take an hour out of your day and get it yourself. I did back when the OTA first came out to the person with a test device.

Flash your phone back to stock, take the OTA, and then use adb and create a tar of /system on the sdcard and you're done. If you really need it for something that bad, you can take an hour out of your day and get it yourself. I did back when the OTA first came out to the person with a test device.

It's far better for one person to spend a couple minutes signing up for a better download site than dozens or hundreds of people spending that time signing-in to download. Aside from that, it's a good idea to limit the amount of information you send to Google since they already have so much. (There are at least a few ways this action can lead to divulging a large amount of information. To be dismissive of it is to either be ignorant of how sites can gather information or extremely trusting of Google.)

I'm on Toroplus and trying to port something, so your reply means nothing to me. The rest of the replies mean nothing, period, because it is the XDA policy. Don't like it? Don't post here.

Congrats, want a cookie? You have toroplus, so you're still going to need a toro tester to make sure stuff works if you're doing something for toro, so have your tester make the system dump for you. Don't like my response, then stick to your toroplus forum.

No, I'm porting something "from" Toro to Toroplus for myself. Don't like "my" responses? Don't care. I was just iterating XDA's policy, and mostly only because the site wouldn't let me even sign in to download.

I was checking to see if the stock MMS auto splits for Toro, and seeing if I could use it on Toroplus. Since I'm sticking with stock odexed, the system dump seemed like the place to start. Also since I can't find any info anywhere on how to manually edit for auto split, and no one on these forums seems to want to help me. Other than telling me to use some bells and whistles ROM, which is not what I want. Or to use some themed deodexed alternate MMS, which also isn't what I'm looking for.

And your point is. I was able to sign up and log in with my gnex no problem.
As far as giving away personal information. Setup a spam account on yahoo. Register with that email with the name xda troll or something.
How much more personal can it get when Google or anything that can access the GPS abilities of your phone can zero in on on your location and drop an egg on your head?
If your displeased or can't find what your looking for with a post then move on. Don't be such a troll. I bet if you asked nicely instead of being a policing ass-hat the guy would of probably extracted what you were interested in, packed and reuploaded what you needed to help you out.
Good luck with your project.

Your opinion of me doesn't matter, either. Rules are rules. Don't call me a troll just because I pointed that out. I haven't done anything wrong. Take your attitudes elsewhere.

Your welcome
Can't we all just get along
We all know and love task, a very giving individual who was mistreated in the threads and very underminded by one particular individual, personally I miss task, I would love to have him back over on the T-Mobile threads, without all the Greif surrounding his departure, so I ask you all, help me get back one of the most beloved and badass developers of the galaxy threads

Just flash his I9505 ROMs.
I've seen the way he handles his threads, while he does not have to share his work.. he could be nicer about it, and if he sees a useless post, instead of replying to it, he could report it. It goes both ways, to be honest.
I actually saw his ROM and didn't flash it simply because I saw the way he handled the thread.
PS: I have the utmost respect for all devs, they do things for free because they enjoy it and love sharing. So more power to him and I appreciate the work he and any other dev does. I'm not bashing him, just saying it wasn't only the member's fault. It goes both ways.

He builds for at&t not i9505. While some don't like the way he runs his threads, I can kind of see where the guy is coming from when people post completely irrelevant things in his threads. Although he could be a bit nicer about things or simply ignore them, it must be frustrating having to sift through all of the off topic stuff to find comments related to development. I never got to flash his roms, but after looking at the at&t thread it would definitely be nice to see him bring builds to our device...lol

Ah, that's where I saw it! My apologies for the confusion.
And yeah, I mean the more ROMs we have here, the better. I was just throwing my thoughts out. A lot of people are just asking questions.. while they may have already been answered, if people are going to put the effort into replying, might as well reply with something helpful like a link to the original answer or something. I mean, that's what I'd do. But like I said, I don't mean to start a war or anything, its his ROMs, his threads, etc.
PS: I say this to anyone who says "its already been answered" or "search" etc.. if you have enough time to post that, then simply help the guy out. We've all been noobs and we know what its like to be scared sh**less because we think we broke something.
Why doesn't some one just run a thread for him? That way he has nothing to deal with. Post his op, maintain the OP, but have say the op of this thread maintain it?
I know plenty of Devs that do that. Illusion rom by mikeramsey for instance. All the dude wants is to build a badass rom. He'll officially support a device but he doesn't run the thread. Metropcs s3 is a perfect example. He official supports it and puts out official builds for it, but the thread at AF is 100% official, the builds are 100% by Mike, but he's not the op nor participates in it nor maintains it.

This sounds like a great idea. If someone responsible were to step up to the plate and PM him about the idea maybe we can get some task back on our device!!

Did you remove the updater script build prop asserts and flash a T-Mobile kernel? I think that should work...
Good luck guys. In my opinion he runs a one man show and he can have a little attitude if he wants to. I have seen too many people who don't know what they are doing and jump to wrong conclusions... this one guy said that tasks rom bricked his device and he was demanding money or something.... outrageous.
I have been silent for too long... Been following XDA forums for three years. Its about time I speak up and support the devs

It most likely will, bud.
Just make sure to flash a T-Mobile kernel after. (Before rebooting)
Honestly you can run his att rom on tmobile, just flash a working kernel for tmobile.
I dont mind maintaining the thread. I run my thread the way i run it can check out my minions thread to see how i dwell in it.
End of the day it is all up to task, while I may have different opinion on how he run his thread but it is still a good rom. I believe every developer run their threads based on experience...so I am 100% sure task have a reason for how he run his threads and something had occur in his past that allows him to justify what he does. I always say if you dont like how an op run their threads, do not bother posting in it. If you cannot get anyone to help you with troubles, do not bother flashing it...it is that simple. And if you are going to post in the thread you SHOULD know what kind of response you will get from task base on your question and if you foreesee it to be something that will piss you off...just dont post. Just as he can ignore 90% of the useless craps he chooses to reply to the users can also not post 90% of the useless craps they choose to post. XDA is about learning, not babysitting.

You do if he specified what devices can flash it, but it's really easy to edit.
Edit: I can confirm it is in his updater script: assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "jflteatt" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jflteatt");
