[Q] Software version 2175.2503.8779.12301 - Nokia Lumia 900

So I have a Cyan unlocked 900 here in the UK. I am on FW 2175.2101.8779.12201 and Zune shows no updates available.
In NaviFirm there is a 2175.2503.8779.12301. Does anyone have any info on this version and whether it is safe for me to flash it? I am keen to get some of the improvements to the camera that the recent AT&T update supposedly gave.
Thanks

I updated my rm-823 in the UK to the latest 2175.2503.8779.12301, I had 8773, and the phone seems a lot quicker.
I had the screen not brightening up to an appropriate level for some seconds (not good when trying to answer a call etc, the phone took 30+ seconds to start charging and some other weird issues to do with response)
I would recommend to upgrade if you had anything like the above problems, but no idea what this new FW is supposed to sort out.

I have been using it for a few days. It seems to fix almost nothing. The camera is still sub-par at best and I still have the issue during phone calls where the other party gets echo feedback.
The auto screen brightness is still really slow and dim witted but very slightly improved.

Just got 8779.12228 here in Canada (Rogers). I wonder if the firmware updates might also be carrier specific???

Unlocked RM-823.
Just got an update.
Firmware changed from 2175.2101.8779.12201 to 2175.2503.8779.12301.
Radio changed from 2.1.75.20 to 2.1.75.25.
Not sure what it actually did.

I got a refurb Lumia 900 to replace my broken LG Quantum. I had a really bad echo problem, and no updates fixed it. Contacted ATT who sent me another refurb, and echo is completely gone even on the highest call volume(old phone had to be no higher than 6). I think it's a hardware problem, look around on Nokia's support forums, seems most could only fix it with replacement. I also had the vibration rattle, and that is gone in the 2nd refurb.

I had two replacements before this issue was resolved. I was told by the Nokia care manager it was a faulty microphone.
So I would not hold my breath a software update will fix your issue.
As for photos check the link out.

[Q] new update to 3.2.1

Yesterday got new system update now all my browsers are forcing close all the time anyone else had this problem
I'm not having force close issues but I've had to reboot like three or four times for various reasons. Once every time I would open the browser I would only get an all black screen. And earlier my status bar(or whatever you call that black bar that runs across the whole bottom of the screen) got stuck at half size and unusable after an alert tried to come up. There were a few more issues.
Wonder If Acer Removed Update?
Acer often screws up their updates - has anyone in US received update lately?
Seems like some issues

Just an update on this. This hasn't happened again.
I got the update maybe a few days ago, haven't had any problems with it so far except once when the browser wouldn't open any new tabs, then force closed, but that only happened once, after that it was fine.
no update yet fl
I am still waiting to get the update. I hope it is out soon. I hate the headphone issue i cant use at night while my wife is sleeping and this is y i bought a tab

The way around it is to play the music/movie without the headphones plugged in. Then, plug them in and the sound will stop playing from the speakers and just the headphones. If you plug them in first, they still play through the speakers.

Sounds interesting! Sure hope that I'll get it soon! Does the 3.2.1 update do anything to make the UI more smooth and fluid? After getting an iPad last week, Ive really noticed how choppy the UI in Honeycomb is, and all of the occasional slowdowns a lot more...

Nor very encouraging as to ICS update then, which they would not comment on

Honestly it makes me so angry. There's so much work that goes into the development of these devices. Can you imagine what it must feel like to pour your heart and soul into engineering & development work, only to have the support folks fail it so hard?
ICS should have been released a week after the sources became available.
The headphone problem should never have made it out of QA. But it also should have been fixed within days of it being reported, and pushed out, worldwide, the moment it passed QA. Instead, this Canadian still has not received it (though I'm applying it manually, right now). It's been months since this problem was reported.
I know no manufacturer is perfect, and there are a lot of products to manage, but this is just irresponsible. Come on, Acer. You're not a charity. We paid good money. Now support your devices.

OTA update Fix new for O2 Phones/Customers

Just thought I'd pass some information on I had from my O2 Premium support team. Google has advised that a fix was released to 1000 handsets yesterday from 17:00Hrs GMT. They will make sure that no issues arise from the fix and if all is well will start rolling out a full scale update 24Hrs Later, ie this evening from 17:00Hrs.
Anyway looks like it will be sooner rather than later

Very nice if it turns out to be true
That is actually smart move releasing to just 1k handsets to avoid any mass problems.
From what i understood the O2 phones firmware was the same as the sim frees/all the others, meaning o2 wont even be involved in ANY updates , that they'll all just come direct from Google.(that has to be good news)
Nice to know it's on the way though, although i've yet to experience the problem in "real life" and not having to put another phone 2mm away from it.

It does seem like a smart thing to do, although it does beg the question...how does O2 / Google know which handsets have received the update, and also how quickly do they expect people to be able to verify if they're still exhibiting symptoms?

Could handset send feedback back to o2 after it has updated itself so that o2 know what firmware your phone is running? Or if you phoned o2 they will ring you back and ask if you are still expriencing this fault.

Hmmm I personally doubt it, since the firmware is supposed to be un-tied to carrier tinkering.
If the carriers are aware of what firmware any of it's customers handsets are running, that raises another worrying issue. But I really don't think that they are capable of finding this out.
As an aside, I used to work for the UK's largest pub gaming machine company, and we had the largest network of computer-based touchscreen gaming machines (at the time at least) and they all ran a custom java based software running on top of Windows. When we made updates to the games or anything else, we would always roll out the update to 1000 machines as a preliminary measure.
The difference there however is that we knew exactly which machines had the updates, and could keep track of any issues that popped up. I don't see how Google would be able to do this unless these 1000 handsets they're talking about are Google employees (could very well be possible).
Mine (o2 via p4u) updated itself last night to android version 4.0.1
not really had the problem with the volume control, so can't say if it helped. But nothing else seems to have changed

The HSPA+ version of the Galaxy Nexus has always had 4.0.1, so you haven't received any update at all.
I don't think the Android version is changing it's the buildnumber that is changing, mine is currently ITL41D, he advised a new version of that.

It would likely go to Google, not O2, and is IMEI based, so they will know how many and which handsets have received the update. They will log the IMEIs that the update was sent to and if you call your various support options with a complaint one of the questions will certainly be your IMEI number. Then this can be cross-referenced to see if you have received the update or not (and evaluate 1. it's success 2. other problems it generated).
When the phone's IMEI gets released for the OTA, there is a "whisper" service that checks the software/whatever version and if below the impending OTA it will prompt the notification for the update- if the same it will send no notification and the user will have no idea of/no need for the OTA. At least this is generally how the G1 and N1 both worked in the past.

Ice Cream Sandwich does that. Everyone's phone does that, it's already been raised on here in at least two separate threads.
It doesn't mean you have received an Android update, it is regarding Android getting the home screen and apps ready.
an OTA update would require user intervention to be applied - you would have to first of all agree to the phone downloading and applying the update.
Well, if it really is released today at 5pm then we will know in little bit more than an hour,so keep your fingers crossed ;-)

Not sure why HTC withhold this, maybe they want to directly jump to JB.

Yes, I'm in Hong Kong.
I can't find any changes yet except the machine is smoother than before.
I have a HK phone, I'm in the UK right now, just got the update.
This is the second 1.29 for HK, it is probably equivalent to 1.29.401.11, so should solve missing storage space and flickering, if you had those problems.
It could be equivalent to .12, we need to compare radio versions, I guess.

The update is 72.9MB
HTC just said the update improvement performance.
Test it for whole day. This is what I have noticed so far.
Speed improved when loading very large web page.
Bettery improved during 3G call.
Power consumption became normal in some mini games.
Faster charging time.
Less heat generated.
Seems more lag in facebook app. But seems battery improved.
The screen seems consume less power just got less then 40% after the update. It used to be 58%. However, it looks less contrast. (Nvidia PRISM??)

Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum but have been reading your phone reviews for a while and really pleased with the help and advice you have given in the past. I have the new HTC one X and never had any issue that other people have complained about etc etc, not one problem at all. its never overheated, never crashed, or had screen issues - BUT as soon I installed the new update my phone has been crashing all day. When my phone rings it turns off, when I leave it alone it reboots, half way through a conversation it reboots. I have not installed any additional apps after the update and as far as I know its only started after the update?? Also my battery is getting milked to death.
Also I am not that computer savvy so please keep the English in layman's terms!!!
Please help shed some light on this as I have been loving this phone, but its completely killing me at the moment.
Thanks again guys

HTC 10 weird noise - coil whine?

My brand new HTC 10 does sometime make weird high frequencie noises. I hear this when i put the phones back close to my ear, but not att all times.
I've read a bit about coil whine and from the sound of it I suspect my HTC 10 suffer from it. Does anyone else experience the same problems?

Is this the one you are talking about? If so, yes I do have that problem aswell, and didn't notice it until now. So thanks for that But the problem I was talking about is similar but it doesn't come out from the speaker, just the back of the phone. Therefor I believe it might be "coil whine".

Actually It does NOT. I did not think it was the same problem as the one earlier spoken about in this thread but now I do think it is. However, the sound does not come from the speaker, only it is rather easy to hear because of the wholes in the body of the phone. The sound seems to come from slightly below the HTC logo.
Here's the other thread describing the high pitch noise: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/whining-noise-speaker-low-brightness-t3376476
Yeah I was going crazy about this until I installed the 1.53 OTA. Completely stopped the noise.
I believe it was something low level that had to do with the display. Probably a kernel fix.

Nope that is the OTA. Whats your software number, and what country are you in?
Run a stress test to see if it gets worse. That's when coil whine will be most noticeable. If it does not change in frequency or amplitude, it's not cool whine.

Yes I had the noise on that firmware. If you haven't received update yet, it must not be available in your country just yet.
But don't worry too much, it's not a hardware issue. The 1.53 update fixes it. Don't make the same mistake I did and order a replacement lol.
Your choices are either wait for the update, or unlock your bootloader and flash the 1.53 firmware.

Yes I had the noise on that firmware. If you haven't received update yet, it must not be available in your country just yet.
But don't worry too much, it's not a hardware issue. The 1.53 update fixes it. Don't make the same mistake I did and order a replacement lol.

Haha, alright! I was very close to order a second replacement. The first one was because of a loose home button though. But thank you very much, I'll just sit tight and hope they release it soon. Weird how they don't release it for everyone at the same time.

Interesting since it does not sound like the sound is coming from the speaker but instead from close to the HTC logo. What can produce a sound like that if not a speaker?

It sounded similar to how lights sound on a dimmer dimmed all the way down. I'm guessing it had something to do with current level supplied to the display, since the higher the brightness, the quieter it gets. I believe electricians call this 'lamp sing'
The more I listened I felt like it was coming from the bottom of the display, near the fingerprint scanner.
Either way just glad they fixed it.

Is there a difference between regular firmware update from the settings menu and OTA? Becasue i have the latest update from the settings menu and i still hear the sound. Sorry, just switched from an iphone.

Interesting. Mine sound much louder below the HTC logo than it does by the fingerprint scanner. But yeah, nice that they seem to have fixed the problem.

Out of the Box Issues

Just received this beast it feels solid but there's 2 issues I'm noticing already.
1st issue is that the screen has vertical grey lines/bars that are really noticeable on bright white backgrounds.
2nd The speakers have a high pitch sound when playing audio with Atmos on. High pitch sound goes away when turning atmos off. It actually sounds better with it off....
This sucks because sending it in for a warranty replacement all the way in Hong Kong is going to be a huge pain and really long wait.
Not sure what to do now...

I have the same issues with the speakers and screen. I don't know about the screen, but the speakers are a software issue. Apparently Razer did issue an update to fix it, but I still haven't received it yet. Customer support told me that the engineers are working on updating the phones. What is your software build number and kernel?

Yeah, me neither. I have the same build number. The newest build number is NMF26X-CKH-171108.853 , It's already updating for some. For me, I'm going to wait for another week and if it's still not updating, then I'll exchange it.

I'll do the same. When you talked to support did you bring up the grey lines on the screen?

Nope, didn't bring it up, but apparently even the store display model has the same lines on the screen.
Bad speaker
Just got my phone in and the bottom speaker seems to be blown, crackling like crazy under certain sounds. Disappointed and not sure what to do now!
Can someone take a picture of the screen line issue? In all the reviews I've never seen anything like that or has anyone brought it up.

Was just about to say I haven't seen anyone get an update yet but my build number is different. The phone forced an update out of the box for me thought it would be the same for everyone :S
NMF26X-CKH-171108.853
And for what it's worth I don't have any high pitched sounds from the speakers.

Yeah I got it from Three, I was thinking this might be a carrier build too since mine doesn't have the "RZR" in the middle. I don't want to be on a damn carrier build it'll screw me over at somepoint i'm sure.

That makes much more sense why the build has CKH in it. It's actually good that you're on the carrier build as it is the latest build for now. The unlocked models are still on an older software build and some are experiencing the high pitch noise from the speakers when using Dolby Atmos. The latest build fixes that, but unlocked models, like mine, haven't been updated yet.

usually carriers get builds last or around the same time so people who got the device straight from Razer should get updates before carriers. It wouldn't surprise me down the line if we end up getting updates later just so Three can add that stupid little logo on boot -_-
Kernel on mine was also built on November 8th

This is where custom ROMs come in Can't wait for development to start for this device.
FINALLY! FOund a board where people are having issues! Let me throw my hat into the ring:
5GHz wifi antenna and Mobile data 3G/LTE radios wont work. I thought Razer products took at least 3 months to break?

Same here (lower speaker as well)
Started RMA, they said 1-2 weeks. Tried to ask for a bit of time in case it's software but Idk, it sounds like a blown speaker to me.. I verified with my gf's that came today too, couldn't get her speakers to blow so pretty sure it's a manufacturing defect. Tried to replicate everything I did on mine.. Thought it might have been a bug within the atmos eq but still couldn't produce anything.
Amazing phone otherwise!!

Yeah, they are writing me an RMA, after reading the above reply, Im thinking of just returning it and getting a Pixel 2. Im not waiting 1-2 weeks to get a replacement phone that arrived (essentially) DOA. That's ridiculous.
My phone installed the latest update straight out of the box on Friday 17th and is running the same build as Roxas598 as I am using ThreeUK too.
I Wouldn't normally ever push any speakers over 75% but to test them out I have put them to max a few times and having noticed any crackling yet.
Only issue I have had was a weird screen pixelation watching some videos on Netflix or YouTube but haven't seen it for a few days now so for now putting it down to bandwidth or codec issue at the time.
Not sure if this is a problem or not due to the way Qualcomm works however my wall charger when charging the phone from 0-25% will make a obvious humming noise, once the phone changes its battery percentage the noise does get quieter. I did contact Razer about this and they where not too sure but after 2-3 days they are sending out a new wall charger.
