help for root galexy sIII - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

ver 4.0.4

Try looking, you might be surprised. Unless your needing somebody to travel to you, root the phone and maybe polish the screen.

http://goo.gl/VT8Jt

Odin the Valen stock (any other recovery after stock patches any customer recovery), after odining to Valen, odin a custom recovery, then flash whatever you want.
EDIT: Since I'm such a good guy, here's the link to Valen stock rom.

I for one was not trying to be rude, I think it was actually fairly informative to be honest... It showed him how to google AND see the responses, i.e. videos, links, etc. Now if you're referring to the OP who wasn't even clear on what he wanted... then I agree. And I for one have never expected to be thanked. I make sure to thank those that help me, but that's just me

Bro? Nah, just fairly decent English, unlike the OP... Wasn't sure if you were commenting about me or others, so just stated my case either way. And regardless, the OP hasn't even come back to check for answers... either way he should be good :highfive:

[Q] Flashed New Caulkins 2.0, and now phone won't boot

So, I flashed Caulks new EK02 Rom, and, when I went to restart, phone is stuck on boot screen; Wiped everything as normal before flashing, but stuck on the yellow triangle screen.
I tried all the normal stuff to get into recovery, but phone won't go past the initial boot screen.
I have a mac computer, and thats all there are in the house, so I can't use Odin..
Can someone help me get the phone back to a state where it starts up?
Thanks so much for your help!

First of all, this is the ONLY thread I made for this question; I made a post in the thread where the rom was located to make the dev aware of the issue
I'll be watching you closely, for when you have a serious issue and ask for help, to make sure you don't post it more than once..
And, BTW, I used Heimdall on my own, without your suggestion; I've been flashing phones for longer than you've probably been on this earth...

Actually if you are on XDA app or Tapatalk, lately its been occasionally doubling up on random threads. I have seen it happen a several times lately. It will show the same exact thread, same amount of posts, but views are different. That may have happened here. Thanks for the kind words wase.

I am on EL29 just rooted w recovery will I still get OTA updates?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Yes but it will fail to install
How did you root if sfhubs I suggest you go back and read his thread quite Andes tools to check OTA compatibility for upgrades. All info needed is there for you and a Google search would of helped you out as well...

Just rooted no other changes it will not fail. You will lose root by taking the OTA and at this point rooting the OTA will be the same as flashing the OTA manually, so not really a point in worrying about it. No one knows for sure what date we will get what, but EL29 was leaked days before it OTA'd for example.

Spelling is ok but thanks for your response. Voice talk and quick submit button was the victim but once again thanks for your kind words
Edit:
by the way what I was trying to say sfhub has tools that check your OTA compliance and his methods of rooting do not mess you up for taking an OTA but honestly why are you taking an OTA anyways... my bad had to ask, it is your choice...
Hey ewmccraw did I spell everything right?

I may have misunderstood your response to the OP, but I felt like you were rebuking him a little for not using google search first as opposed to just posting the question. I apologize if I did. It's just a little pet peeve of mine when that happens. After all, it's just the internet and that's the whole purpose of a forum. You know, free discussion and all that....again, sory if I missunderstud (see what I did there?)

I will suggest using the search function as well as providing an answer... No prob and I think you spelled discusion wrong----(see what I did there) LOL
Thanks for the answers. Well the reason I wonder is because once we get ICS source and ROMs start getting built won't it be easier to flash ICS ROMs instead of having to switch around different kernels/ recoveries to flash and risk of brick will be lower? And I just didnt do a ton of searching because I been busy posting is faster.

Wow. I owe a lot of you an apology.

So remember that thread where I pretty much went on a flame spree and played the "pissed off noob", well now that I've seen a great deal of the good on this Site, I can only wish I had actually acted rationally than getting upset at one reply or lack of help.
I totally misjudged the forum and the people in it and for that, I sincerely apologize for my outrageous behavior in my past thread. There's no way really for me to explain why I reacted the way I did now, but all I can do in return is make this apology and hope I can start over making a better image of my online self.
So to everyone I flamed here at XDA, I apologize for the negativity.
Sincerest, Alex

Thank you I just panicked I guess and all I had on my head to try and deal with it was rage, but I've come to terms with it being my fault, I took something way out of context that probably was meant very very minimal to what I thought it was.

Flashing AT&T Stock Firmware with Odin.

Is this possible yet? I've seen a few tutorials (on other websites) talking about flashing their AT&T Note II back to stock with the following file ..."KIES_HOME_I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_215287_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5" using Odin.
Although I haven't seen anyone say whether it was successful or not. Truth be told, if I don't read it for myself on XDA I'm kind of hesitant on doing it. I don't need the flash counter reset (yet), but I would just like to know that I could Odin back to stock firmware / recovery if and when anything goes wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm tone deaf, so not sure I'm gonna hear tones of threads. What I do hear is the sarcasm in your post. It's not needed. I didn't ask anyone to do it for me, I asked if anyone has confirmed a working method. You being a jerk aside, I still hope your life is well and brings you great things.

I can understand that. I get a lot of the same questions day in and day out in my line of work. I still wouldn't be a jerk to anyone, much less a complete stranger. The whole "no one is going to hold your hand" was a bit over board.
Anyways. Thanks for the response cdshepherd. Much appreciated. I'll do some more searches when I get home and see what I come across.
Take care all.
