Yes but it will fail to install
How did you root if sfhubs I suggest you go back and read his thread quite Andes tools to check OTA compatibility for upgrades. All info needed is there for you and a Google search would of helped you out as well...

Just rooted no other changes it will not fail. You will lose root by taking the OTA and at this point rooting the OTA will be the same as flashing the OTA manually, so not really a point in worrying about it. No one knows for sure what date we will get what, but EL29 was leaked days before it OTA'd for example.

Spelling is ok but thanks for your response. Voice talk and quick submit button was the victim but once again thanks for your kind words
Edit:
by the way what I was trying to say sfhub has tools that check your OTA compliance and his methods of rooting do not mess you up for taking an OTA but honestly why are you taking an OTA anyways... my bad had to ask, it is your choice...
Hey ewmccraw did I spell everything right?

I may have misunderstood your response to the OP, but I felt like you were rebuking him a little for not using google search first as opposed to just posting the question. I apologize if I did. It's just a little pet peeve of mine when that happens. After all, it's just the internet and that's the whole purpose of a forum. You know, free discussion and all that....again, sory if I missunderstud (see what I did there?)

I get it that its a forum and no prob but that does not mean you forget everything that got you to this point and that would be the search function. I will suggest using the search function as well as providing an answer... No prob and I think you spelled discusion wrong----(see what I did there) LOL
Thanks for the answers. Well the reason I wonder is because once we get ICS source and ROMs start getting built won't it be easier to flash ICS ROMs instead of having to switch around different kernels/ recoveries to flash and risk of brick will be lower? And I just didnt do a ton of searching because I been busy posting is faster.

I answered all of your questions precisely, and did not disrespect you in any way. If you took any offense to my reply, I apologize as it was not meant to be conveyed as disrespectful.

OP: You're a douche. Bender answered all your questions and even told you that it can be Googled (which it can), and you respond by calling him a motherf*cker and saying you're sick of the people on this forum? Well, I can speak on behalf of A LOT of people when I say the people in this forum are sick of borderline-retarded people like you coming in here and taking up server space to ask a question that is equivalent to "what is 2+2?" in the world of Android. If you don't like this site, then cancel your worthless account, and go to AndroidForums with the rest of the f*cking noobs that don't know a kernel from their own little d*cks. Obviously you don't know wtf a kernel is or what it does, so why do you want to know how to flash one? Maybe if you were to take the time to educate yourself, you wouldn't have to open your c*cksucker on a public forum and show everyone what a damn sh*t-kicking idiot you are.
Do you feel better now? Just let it all out buddy it will be okay.

I dont want to use the pre-rooted kernel. Is there any way i can keep root but have the stock kernel?
Yes, there is a a method in the development section. I dont know the exact name.of the thread, but its by Bubby.

Use the method above. It doesn't touch the stock kernel/recovery and you will just get superuser in your /system partition to be able to use apps meant for rooted devices.
wow I see a lot of this lately guy ask for help you give it to him and he cant even say thanks... Quite sure there will be a reason but I think this is why so many people get flamed.... @OP these guys are all right and honestly if you did a little homework you would of found the answer.. I did quite a bit of reading prior to getting my phone and I used the stock root where it did not touch the kernel... OH well good luck

So, I flashed Caulks new EK02 Rom, and, when I went to restart, phone is stuck on boot screen; Wiped everything as normal before flashing, but stuck on the yellow triangle screen.
I tried all the normal stuff to get into recovery, but phone won't go past the initial boot screen.
I have a mac computer, and thats all there are in the house, so I can't use Odin..
Can someone help me get the phone back to a state where it starts up?
Thanks so much for your help!

First of all, this is the ONLY thread I made for this question; I made a post in the thread where the rom was located to make the dev aware of the issue
I'll be watching you closely, for when you have a serious issue and ask for help, to make sure you don't post it more than once..
And, BTW, I used Heimdall on my own, without your suggestion; I've been flashing phones for longer than you've probably been on this earth...

don't even need to wait for it to install successfully. Sometimes a "fail" is actually a success, so if you're having problems of it flashing successfully then you should check your app drawer.. its probably in there already.

yep probably my 4th time lol. Since t-mobile had their "sale" and i believe prices are dropping for the gs2 (target/walmart) expect a lot of new users with derp questions.. I do hope it dies down.
I should probably create a template so i can just c/p everything over and over.
OH WAIT that's what stickies are for.

Good evening. I havent been on here in a WHILE since I got rid of my htc EVO. I am looking for the new and easiest way to root/unlock my epic 4g touch please... I was reading around a few and some of them mess your wifi up and I need mine for work purposes. I would be flashing Cyan9 of course after I root the phone. I do apologize for the "noob" Where can I find the way to root question. Thanks again
It only takes minimal reading to find out how to root this phone. But you can use this link. Please follow the instructions! It may look complicated, but it really isn't.

You can't go wrong....
On phone so can't link, but if you go to develop section, there's 1 master sticky. In there is a ton of sticky posts, find the one on rooting. After that go to the cyan thread and read the first 2 pages. Then go to q and a questions with anything leftover. 10 min of reading and you'll be way ahead of where you are now. Good luck

Just make sure you thoroughly read and follow the installation instructions for whatever ROM you are going to flash and always ask questions before you take any step you are unsure of. Don't take shortcuts or disregard any instructions.
There are so many people in this forum who are willing to help if only asked.
Happy flashing and good luck!
