Want this phone .... But I have a issue 32gb of space should be sufficient for my needs... But since it all internal how much does the ROM and system files take of that space? Or is the 32g an independent partition of space?

My phone tells me that I've got a little over 28gb of usable storage space.

I'm curious about using ext4 so I can have files over 4gb
I don't see much info on actually formatting to ext4 though.
I have aokp and Franco if it matters
Is there a guide or FAQ I'm missing

When I had my sgs4g well converted to ext4. I can't remember how though. I'm sure someone over there remembers. Good luck and sorry not much help.

Not internal partitions, the guy is asking about
converting the sdcard. Way different.

Not sure what you are talking about. The GNex does not have an sdcard. The /sdcard directory is just a symlink to /data/media where your files actually reside.

The sdcard is the entire internal partition. As stated above the sdcard is part of the data partition. Which is why it shows ~32GBs or ~16GBs depending on if you have GSM or CDMA. There is no separate sdcard partition like with a phone that takes an sdcard its all one big partition.

Yeah I know but I know people who are memory hungry, and in a sense have a S3 with 32Gb built in and 32Gb Micro sd so 64Gb's but it would be cool to have two 32's or better yet two 64G's(too damn expensive for two 64's though) lol.
But people who watch movies, would like that I use a 32Gb class 4 in my Epic. Bought to get a Class 10 replace this for my cars radio. But that would be nice and would definetly help for Movie people.
Imagine that and Blu Ray on a Phone haha?

That would truly be "Epic", but the software and harware back then in 2010 wasn't even thought of around our phones being built though if I'm not mistaken, but wasn't LTE for VZW in 2010?

Hey I really want a gn 2 but I need more space than 16gig. Has anyone seen a 32/64gig gn2 with any of the american carriers? I can't seem to find anything but the 16gig unit.
Thanks

The only ones I know of are in Korea. They do not have the 16GB model, but they have the 32 and 64GB models... Kind of lame...
So only 16 gig for US. Are you also in the Verizon forums? Seems like I may have seen you in the 7.7 group. Anyways thanks for the reply.

Just making sure, since I bought a Micro SD card in advance of getting the phone.
Wait for 128gb cards to be released.

Are all these people complaining about space coming from a iPhone or HTC one x? Expandable memory guys! I'd rather have it on there then on the phone, saves a lot time in the long run

At that rate, you might as well wait for the Note III. It's technology, a few months after you buy it, something newer and cooler is out. There's already rumor threads forming about a new Exynos 5 phone.
But yeah, more expandable memory is better. Especially if you want to keep FLAC files on your phone.
But still can't install apps on the cards and these games are now larger than 2 gig.

Mines the same too. Gotta factor in the ROM. At least there is a expandable memory slot and microSD cards are cheap..

Rom wont take up that much space....I wouldnt think. I think it has to do with partitioning or something like that

Seriously. I mean thats like 2/3 of the memory they claim it has. Its like getting the 32gb and getting 20gb or the 64gb and getting 41gb.

well the ROM is about 835MB
that and 16GB is 16 x 1024MB = 16,384MB,
however they are using 1000MB in a GB when they rate these so they are saying 16,000MB which is actually 15.265GB minus the 865MB for the ROM, down to about 14GB available.
Disk manufactures measure Kb as 10^3 vs the way computers measure Kb as 2^10. As you can see, 1000 <> 1024 so you have a discrepency. Also, the formatting has some overhead.

I was wiping my phone to install a new Rom and I was formatting partitions in recovery and I accidentally formatted emmc. Is this bad (what does it mean). Phone seems to be running ok. Just curious.
Thanks
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Emmc is the internal sdcard essentially. Wiping it is the similar to wiping the external sd card in that it won't affect your phone directly. If an app stored preferences or something there then you'll notice that.
If you stored priceless memories on your internal storage that can never be replicated ( that you forgot to put online).
Then yes.
Other than that, NOPE.

As the others said you should be OK. If its still readable then only what you had on their is gone. Its basically a 6gb sdcard.
Also adr6350 is not the og droid incredible but the same should apply to your phone.
