Hi guys, after using so many roms on my USA G2 I want to go back to the sense rom that came with the desire z (sense 2.1,). The main thing is using the main RUU method is not something I want to do cos I can loose root and S-Off, worst of all my radio could go back and my hboot f**ked up
Now the Qs
Can I extract the rom only and flash it in cwm leaving out radio and hboot part.
Also how easy will it be going back to root since I know the stock is not rooted and I have to do so.
And can I flash a kernel on top after rooting?
The ROM I want is desire z last gingerbread update sense 2.1
I don't wanna use those ginger sense roms here cos most have problems just want real stock ............. I have root with s-off desire z hboot and .19 radio on my g2.....any help......
Am on ma cell so the typing ain't good.......sorry

Will my hboot , radio and s- off change
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
If you flash as is you will
Extract system from the pc10img.zip, only flash that
Do not flash a pc10.img without knowing what's in it, you can easily brick your phone. In this case if you were to flash a shipped rom with the shipped hboot, radio, recovery etc, you would probably end up with a brick
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Flashing an RUU will change your hboot, radio and recovery.
If you used gfree and got true S-OFF it will not change that.
You could try flash this rom, it should be an untouched rom like you want, flashable in cwm
Otherwise I would recommend using Virtuous Sense which is based off stock with just some minor improvements.

I cant flash any sense rom , i tried to flash leedroid 2.4.1 .
my phone is rooted and s-off .
when i try to flash sense rom the screen remains on "why so serious s-off" screen .
I tried Leedroid , Auraztense , Cool HD, RemixHD , MIUI nd some other roms before
but i can easily install cm7 without any problem nd is fast too .
i flash cwm 3.005 then 3.0.2.4 and finally went back to 2.5.0.7 with flash utility.
on my bootloader screen it is like this :
Alpharev Sense
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
Hboot 0.93.1000
MICROP - 031d
Touch Panel - SYNT0101
Radio - 5.14.05.17
what should i do now ??
Nandroid, go back to stock and start the rooting/S-OFF again
can i use this stock rom ??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
this one is already rooted !
if not ,
can u pls provide me the link for appropriate one ? pls .
Up to you but you said you can't use any custom Sense ROMs so you'll need to use an RUU to go back to stock. Was your phone branded when you got it? If you did things properly you should already have made a note of your original FW on your unit and have the right RUU for your handset
Not sure about miui but for the rest I'm pretty sure they don't fit the sense hboot. Unless it was a data++ type. Have you tried it with stock bravo hboot?

Good spot, didn't think of the OP using a different HBOOT
To the OP - when you went S-OFF did you flash a different HBOOT? Like the Oxygen one or CM? If so, you need the stock one for a Sense-based ROM

As i see in op you were using sense hboot. That is not enoigh o install some sense roms . Use default hboot
Ok guys heres a quick q/ .I want to try some Gb ++ roms and obviously i need the ++ hboot since im using the stock one.So after i flash the hboot, what will happen to the phone,i.e. will i still have my recovery?
Sent from my Nokia 3310 xD
To my knowlegde the flash of the hboot only changes the bootloader.
Only ROM you currently use wont boot up no more. Recovery etc will stay untouched.
So flash new hboot, then wipe all, then flash ROM
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
And remember that even though they are called data++ you might be needing CM7 hboot actually, make sure what is said in ROM thread.

Ok,i already had the felling ,but just wanted to be 100% sure about it
tnx for the info chaps
Hi all, so I've been trying to update my hboot from 0.75.0000 to .93 but have been FAILING miserably. I'm currently on ICS, and have tried alpharev which didn't work. Trying to flash rom to RUU has also failed but I don't know why. Flashed my radio to match the one with the RUU and that didn't work, which i'm guessing is due to the inability to simply flash from ICS to 2.2 or 2.3?
So my question is, any other tips?
Try to flash the hboot downgrade from alpharev then the right RUU. If that works you can root and s-off your phone with unrevoked/revolutionary. If you want to change hboot to cmr7 or data ++ (example) you MUST be s-off......

Thanks for tip, I've actually done alpharev and it also failed. Reason being it needs a rom that doesn't already have a2sd, any suggestion as to which rom is suitable?
Thanks
Edit: I've actually online done the hboot reflash, and not the downgrade. Will give that a go first and see what happens.
I think that all the rooted roms have some sort of a2sd, that's why I think you have to start from the beginning. Start with an original ruu.bring it back to its original state wich came out of the box...my knowledge doesn't reach that far ;-) its the easyest way I think.

Can you post your complete bootloader. Turn of phone, hold down volume and press power. What info does the left upper corner give you ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It is:
BRAVO UNKNOWN SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.75.0000
MICROP-031D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-4.05.00.11
MAR 5 2010,21:12:15
Still I think what's best is to go back all the way and install a ruu. Then go directly to revolutionary. It will root and s-off your phone and installs the custom hboot.
Maybe I have more time to help tonight, I am at work now :-(

That's what I'm thinking too, hence why I'm trying to flash an RUU onto the device. I however get this error when I do it
Error[140]: Bootloader version error
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again
I conclude that the downgrade did not work ?

It didn't and wouldn't cause my phone is still on S-On, I'm however dling some newer RUU so fingers crossed that helps.
Ah yes ofcourse. There is a stickie in the Q & A section here that has info and troubleshooting. Maybe point 3 and 4 can give you some more info !

Is it possible that your phone is branded by provider, in that case you have to create a goldcard first. I have no experience in this. Hopefully I am pointing you to the right direction.

Hey there, firstly I would like to thank you for ALL your help and of course the effort you've put in it.
I've actually fixed it by firstly going to page ~16 of the android development forum for the desire, get an old rom, flash it in and then performed the alpharev. Lo and behold it worked because the rom is reasonably old and a2sd was "new" then. Flashed it back to ICS now and I am proud to announced that I S-OFF'ED!!! Partition done and OFF I GO.
That's great !!!! Have fun with your fixed desire )))

@bjornzzz Any suggestion on which rom you flashed. I've arrived at this boot loader while going back to stock from alpharevx hboot / ics rom.
Flashing an Ruu before flashing the alpharev downgrade didn't help much. LOL
I used AlphaRev 1.8 to get S-OFF how do i flash HBOOT CM7 r2 ? is there a up datable .zip or is it best to use fastboot option ?
Fastboot is my fave. You can also PB99IMG.zip from hboot

to flash HBOOT image ?
You can. I prefer not to but its your call

I've only ever used Android flasher and must have changed hboot about 20 times. Works well for me.

Whichever method you use, wipe all partitions (except FAT32 on SD) after changing.
(If you use 4ext recovery this will be done for you),

I have only used fastboot and never had any problems with it. at start it might seem the harder way but when you do it a couple of times it probably is the fastest and easiest way to do it.
also just a reminder, if you wanna change back from cm7r2, flash the downgrader first, then flash the other hboot you wanna go for. (i have learned this a lot later than i should have therefore i feel the need to share it)

Plus you're not adding an additional layer of software like these gui apps are.

Do you mean, everytime one is changing to any different hboot?
I thought this is only needed if one is changing back to stock hboot.

Personnally I'm a fan of Fastboot Commander. It can be found at the bottom of the Desire Index in the development thread.
You got a few hboots for alpharev then you can make your own layout as you need, so rom will fit perfectly. As I'm trying different Rom flashing hboot as it is required for that specific Rom.
Now I find fastboot much quicker way as fastboot commander with mouse

if i remember correctly, you need to use the downgrader first to switch from 387mb system hboot to cm7r2 for example

You are remember not correctly. One only needs to use downgrader when one wants to flash RUU or OTA, because the new hboot versions have only overwrite protection against RUU or OTA (Source: http://alpharev.nl).
I've changed from CM7r2 to stock and back again a few times now (when trying out the ICS ROMs that are floating around on here), and have never flashed the downgrader. As MatDrOiD points out, that's only needed if you're going back onto a RUU.
Cheers.

there are ROM's that doesn't accept a certain boot's, so if you really want that ROM, you must change your boot too

Not sure if it also works for the wildfire, but on newer HTC devices (Evo 3D, ...) with s -on, you need to flash the boot.img seperately with fastboot.

To go back to stock... You need to flash an RUU which you can get here http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz. Download whichever suits your region, whatever... You can flash easily using FASTBOOT. But bear in mind... Since you are S-ON, it will be hard if not impossible to flash a ROM lower than the one you had before rooting. I'd recommend this RUU RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed (if you were on Eclair or have HBOOT 0.80) incase you need S-OFF. Good luck!
download ruu that suits your region, extract rom.zip from it, rename the rom,zip to PC49IMG.zip, put it on root of your sdcard, reboot the phonein hboot, wait for it to scan for pc49img, when it scans it follow the onscreen instructions on how to install it, and voila, youre back on stock rom.
