I searched and it seems like the problem maybe a older version of cwm the version I have is 5 I looked on the cwm website it says there is 6. Something version but when I click on it to download it takes me to a page with random words and numbers ? Any help is appreciated thanks

You need to update your recovery. Either use ROM manager or find the .img and flash a newer recovery through terminal emulator.

I rooted my phone by odin method . Flashing clockwork mod recovery over stock recovery . And somehow I was able to install Superuser.
But now when I try to reboot in recovery it takes me to stock recovery mode not custom recovery.
I tried both recovery and they work for a while and after some time they dont.
Why is this happening ?
Su is working fine and I m on UVLH2 .
Thanks in advance

Since you already have superuser. Why not install via Rom manager or install twrp
Recovery doesn't stick for some weird reason when flashing through Odin on that firmware

Battery pulls are unnecessary. Delete or rename these.
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Reinstall recovery with rom or goo manager and reboot recovery.

Thats weird...so you can reboot into custom recovery a few times and eventually it goes back to stock? Or can you only boot custom once then it reverts?
First, look for these files and if there, delete or rename them.
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Then reinstall recovery and see if it works now.
If theyre not there, good!....well maybe!
Have you tried any other method of installing recovery?
Try using my favorite tool, Mobile Odin.
Free lite version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
(Dont forget to download the flash kernel further down the page)
Or buy full version on play store.
Download twrp here:
http://d-h.st/pNQ
Rename to recovery.img
Open Mobile Odin and tap Recovery and select that file.
Do not wipe.
Tap and confirm Flash Firmware.
Let me know how that goes.

I'm not sure I know what you want or need. Why don't you just download it from the play store?
yes it is much easier to go to the play store download rom manager and install it through the app its also a nice app to have as i still haven't found a way to rename backups other than using the app as the recovery names them wrong in the current version. Also when it comes to the Tough version IDK if you can do that with the free app i never tried never interested me i just figured its something more to go wrong.
You can't get touch with the free app...i had it somehow... i forget what aop it how I got it... but it was touch... that's what I want...I go back and fourth just cause you can name your backups with twrp... ...thanks for trying...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
if you want touch what about TWRP? its touch and can be installed free with goomanager? the only other way I know of to install custom recovery i think is with ADB
Download the .IMG file
Put cwmtr.img in root directory
In terminal emulator type
su hit enter
dd if=/cwmtr.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
hit enter
Type reboot recovery hit enter

I'm going to upload it for you.
Here it is: openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.0-ancora.img
Complete set of images can be found here: http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/ancora
Easiest way to flash an .img file:
Download it and put it somewhere easy to find, let's say, /mnt/sdcard/Recoveries
Get Recovery Flashing Assistant and edit the script to point to the above directory
Run the Recovery Flashing Assistant script
You'll have TWRP safely flashed onto your W, and you'll also get a backup of your current recovery in the directory in step #1.

Hey there xda.
I have an i747m with rogers, and I am on stock touchwiz..
Phone is rooted, reset, wiped, update cwm, and whenever I try to install any custom rom (carbon, liquid, paranoid) I get installation aborted (bad)
Please help
THanks
Have you tried TWRP instead of CWM?
Install this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5zMHVwLmdvb21hbmFnZXIiXQ..
Then go to settings in the app and select "install openrecovery script".
Then reboot and try to install a ROM again.
What version of cwm is it? And just to double check, you're using i747m rom releases, correct?
Ive never tried anything other than cwm so I will, also I just use roms that are for i747 and that are in the rogers section..
I never see any roms that say i747m they all say i747

Make sure your recovery is the d2att version not the d2can version. It doesn't matter if you flash any i747 ROM on an i747m the only thing is you may have to set your APN manually other than that everything will work
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Alright awesome, so do you think the issue is my cwm? Maybe someone couls.give me a link to one that works for them?
Thanks for all the replies so promptly its really appreciated
Also that goo app downloaded a recovery that is d2can

Use this recovery works better than cwm on my i747m.

And so all I do is flash this using odin like normal?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
Yes. Or you can just use the terminal emulator way which you can do from your phone if you feel comfortable enough doing so.

so twrp installed correctly? and once you booted into custom recovery (twrp) you werent able to install zip from sdcard?
Redownload the ROM and try again. Just to be sure, you are not trying to flash it using ROM manager or too manager?

Nope installing straight from twrp and its not working..
Im installing from external sd card, and I've tried carbon rom and liquid neither seems to work.

you could redownload a ROM and try again or flash this in recovery: twrp2.4.4.0
flash it and reboot recovery (under advanced i believe). its obviously a previous version of twrp and may allow you to flash the ROM zip

Probably corrupted files. Try opening the zip files on you computer with WinRAR... If you get any errors opening it is corrupted

TWRP doesn't install roms automatically if you want something like that you would have to use CWM
