Is there a way to disable this crap? It's extremely annoying making an accidental typo and then pressing space and it adds. I have to delete 50ish words a day. Auto correct doesn't even work after 2 days because of it
Have you looked in your keyboard settings?

There is nothing of the sort within keyboard settings.
Maybe try a different one Swiftkey 3 is awesome

Hi how do adjust my page view in an email
there is no scrollbar at the bottom, and trying to drag it only keeps selecting stuff
and selecting Menu > View only gives Text size and Language options
nor do I find anything in the messaging setup menu

At the top of the message there is text with yellow background that you can tap to make the email scrollable horizontally.

D'oh!
Thanks
Is there a way to set that up where I can always scroll right.
Seems like the way people would want it to be
One way I can think would be to use Vogue's central button to scroll right. Haven't tried out in an email, but works elsewhere.

Nah, I just gave her a try, and unless I clicked the Tap to scroll it just went to the next message.
Oh well no biggie I guess, thanks for trying.
This is ridiculous lol, I thought I'd ask since I'm pretty sure swype is a system app and I can't delete any of the files associated with it. But it keeps switching to spanish on its own. Three times I switched it back to english and it's fine. Then eventually (while the phone is still on) it'll be in spanish.
Is this a bug with swype or is there some way to delete the spanish language pack without root?
There is a good chance that you are hitting this tiny little button. It switches the swype language between English and Spanish.

That functionality really should be user configurable.
Like, why do they have hot keys enabled for screen rotation by default in Windows? 99.99% of users never need it, but I get calls all the time that the screen is upside down.
it is just slide up on the language key and turn off Spanish as an available language
"Hey, where should we put this language toggle button?" "Hmmm .. let's squeeze it right between the SYM button that is used to get to numbers and the comma. People never use those two buttons."
*facepalm*

Hey all,
ICS has a built in spelling correction that looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
On my xperia arc with official ICS there is an option in the menu to turn the spelling correction on, but it seems like it lacks dictionaries - the result is that it's not working. Any idea how to fix this? I know CM9 has this working properly.
Play around with the settings... in keyboard etc. and if not just download another keyboard.apk or something
That keyboard is from the store I believe, I've got the same one that I took from CM.

This spell checking is an ICS feature that has nothing to do with keyboard. On cm9 I was using swiftkey and had this spellcheck, yet swiftkey itself does not include this feature. Even the option in the menu to enable this spellchecking is outside of keyboard options.

Well it has something to do with the keyboard as it doesn't work on stock...

I have this issue too. I've tried changing the spelling correction to various system languages as well as the custom list of languages and none work. It is completely separate to the keyboard in a setting called "spelling correction". But there's only one choice "android correction" and i can find a way to install other options to choose instead of this broken version.
Hi all
I love to use Swype, however I don't care much for the keyboard layout.
On swype I need to switch back and forth between the numeric/character screen and the alpha keyboard screen because their keyboard does not have numbers on same screen. You have to go to second numeric page and then flip back over to start typing again.
This is always a pain when I am typing in my passwords or something similar.
I recently tried Swiftkey and I love their keyboard (numbers up on top and basic alpha below). I don't have to keep switching back and forth to get to type in numbers then alpha then numbers etc... BUT...their swipe type technology is not good.
Swype is more forgiving on how I type and usually gets the words right when I'm zooming all over the screen...but swiftkey gives me weird and mostly wrong words. I spend more time correcting the words.
So to summarize...I still want to use Swype...but want the swiftkey keyboard layout or something very similar.
Swype keyboard themes I tried...but they are all the same...just the fonts or coloring looks different. The layout is the same.
Please help!!!
Check out touchpal x.
I have used every keyboard since the Droid x days and nothing at this time beat touchpal.
no number row needed, just swipe UP off the top letter row for numbers,
special char you swipe down into the spacebar.
Hold hold spacebar for walkie-talkie like google voice input.
swipe spacebar up like a window shade for full emoji, etc.
word detection has been improved like 1000% on the last update

yeah it's weird that native keyboard doesn't have vibration. if you use swiftkey or google keyboard then vibration works.
Even more weird thing is there is no haptic feedback for OS action. Not even long press.
There is no such option, but you can install another keyboard like the Google one and set the haptic feedback in there. It will only work with that keyboard though, and not the default Samsung keyboard.
Yea, i know but sam keyboard is for me better than google.

i think vibration is disabled because of the camera rattling issue. camera rattles ever so slightly whenever the phone vibrates. you can really tell with keyboard vibration enabled.
Just use Google Keyboard.

Google Keyboard does not solve it. You can set vibration on and set a length, but it will still not do it when using the keyboard.
Very weird since the phone does have vibrator though that goes off with notifications and calls.
In the Google keyboard settings do the following:
Settings->preferences->vibration strength on key press. You wanna set this to like 42/50 to match what it normally is/was like. But you can always set it higher or lower as you prefer. If this doesn't work, hate to tell you but your phone is broken.
