If I buy a sim free black s3 i9300 will it work on ATTs network? Is there anything else you need to work around using the i9300 on ATT or anything that would be different from my pebble blue i747
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Yes it will but only at hspa+ speeds...no lte
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Why is that? So no 4g either? Or just no 4g lte?
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
HSPA+21 is the most the i9300 will get, which is dubbed as "4G" on the i727
the i9300 physically does not support LTE, which is dubbed as well, 4G LTE on the i727
Ok thanks. Anyone else got their heart set on getting the black one? Lol I hear its coming to tmobile as well. Would that be a better choice instead of the international version?

Only if you use it on T-Mobile. You won't get HSPA+ data speeds using the T-Mobile S3 on AT&T. The international model will also have a more substantial developer following.

I wouldn't mind a black one. I have the white s3, but for some reason I reeeeeally want the blue one. Im trying to trade it on craigslist but no luck.

Once unlocked the TMo S3 will get HSPA+ on AT&T. With the new band roll out TMo has been making all of their phones pentaband.

Correct TMo will get HSPA+ but not LTE
I would love to have an international s3, Montgomery ALL will never get 4g. I love my pebble blue to death, however its all wrapped up by a commuter otterbox.

Yeah, rumors are the T-Mo Note is around the corner however I'll just hold on to my SII for a while. Since I've got an iPad and the SII I really have no desire for the Note.
Yeah its a cool little device but its not worth giving up the awesome speeds we get on this , ill miss the note so i know i will for sure get any pjone with a plus 5inch screen that runs on tmobile 4g

I'm confident that the modem from the new T-Mobile Note will not help us, it's a hardware issue, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get these results with the Blaze modem.

As long as it is a GSM Nexus, then yes. They use either ATT or TMobile towers.

Yes you can bring any AT&T or T-Mobile compatible device to Straight Talk. Just choose at the time of order whether you want AT&T or T-Mobile service. The GSM GNex can do either one.

Basically those are your two options. Considering you won't get LTE when you leave Verizon, and its a huge hassle to flash, I'd just sell it buy a GSM model and put it on a GSM prepaid carrier. Faster speeds and less hassle on your end.

Ya its a big hassle when compared to just buying a Straight Talk (or any other carrier) SIM and just putting it in the phone.
Not to mention that on Cricket you'll be stuck on EVDO 3G, which is quite slow often.

I have at&t straight talk and I get hspa+ speeds a lot. Some people call it 4g. I would consider it like 3.5g. But I can pull like 4Mb down, which is fast enough for me

Check out the massive prepaid thread. Popular options right now are T-Mobile Monthly 4G, Straight Talk, Simple Mobile and Net10.

You get HSPA+, the faster-than-normal-3G connection. Plenty of info out there about it. No LTE on prepaid carriers just yet. The GSM Galaxy Nexus doesn't have LTE either way though, so the only way you'll get LTE is to go Verizon (or Sprint lol).
Speeds will be dependent on your area and network saturation. YMMV, I'd expect 2-7mbps down / 1-4mbps up.
So I currently own both e4gt and gs3 on Sprint and I'm tempted to make the jump to Metro since they have lte in my area and Sprint won't have it till Q2 of next year ; I'm hesitated because I love flashing roms and there isn't a specific forum for the device. Could someone give me some advice on it? TIA

Since the phone is really a sprint device I'd assume the sprint roms would work on a flashed gs3. If 4G works after the phone is flashed I'd love to know because sprint's data speeds are despicable

Oh... I didn't know metro was going to be carrying it. If the hardware is the same as the us variants (dual core 1.5 and 2 gigs ram) I would try one of those. The first hurdle is getting root access

In other words you're wondering if it's like the skyrocket, which the radio supported LTE but also had dual channel HSPA (21x2, hence your 42Mbps). All you had to do was switch modems...
Would be interesting to actually know... On way to a wake, don't feel like looking it up now...

If you "found" it, then yes you should do the right thing and try to get it back to them. In any case, if/when the owner reports it as lost or stolen, the IMEI would be blacklisted and you'd have a useless GS4.
