I soft bricked my phone last night by flashing a mod on a wrong rom so I had to unroot and then root it again but now in download mode it says I have two custom binaries. And now my recovery is all jacked up. So what do I do? How do I delete it?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
First go to the stickied thread named SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 QCOM TOOLKIT V2.3 under the development forum and download that. Use the toolkit to Odin to stock (using download mode on phone)... Then use it to root and custom recovery... Once the phone is working and rooted, download triangle away from the forums and that will reset your counts
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I am already rooted via odin so downloading the triangle off will fix this count and will it fix my recovery being finicky?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Triangle away will fix the binary count. You could probably also use the toolkit to re flash recovery if you're sure that's all that's wrong with the device. I tend to be more cautious but I am a part time dev so YMMV

Triangle Away fixed the problem and I reflashed my recovery. Now everything is running perfect. Thank u very much. I need to be more careful and I guess this is my lesson haha. Thank u again. I'll hit u up with a thank u.

I had the same issue. I just got my S3 yesterday and rooted it within an hour of having it, following QBKing's instructions. I should have read a little further and didn't know that it increased the flash count. I used Triangle Away and it worked great. Counter is at 0 now.

Had my old S2 for almost a year a it broke 2 days ago. It was replaced under advanced exchange, so I got a refurbed unit running FI27.
I am in the process of moving to another apartment and I don't have internet access, so I need to do this while I am at work today. I've tried to read all of the stickies for the past hour and I am more lost than ever.
It was so long ago when I rooted my original S2, that method obvioulsy no longer works.
Just need a link to what the easiest way to root and install a recovery on my device for FI27.
I know someone knows off the top of their head and can point me right in the direction. I'm in a time crunch and could appreciate the help!
TIA...

That should get you root.
Or you could flash el26 one click exe from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26295021 and then flash a rom.

So I used the no-data to flash and get root.
However, trying to get a recovery on. Can I just use Rom Manager to install CWM? I was going to use it flash CWM recovery, but it asked me to confirm the phone model, and I didn't see the sprint version listed.
Nevermind, I installed Agats FI27 recovery, all is well!
Thanks guys! Should be good now!!
No don't do that. Google mobile Odin lite and dl the free one from XDA. Then flash the kernel I linked for safety. Then you can flash anything.

I have not tried to use it on an not rooted version of JB. Just wondering if anyone can chime in and share their experience. I know that since the update the flash counter will go up to 1 everytime you reboot your phone, triangle away says it reset the flash counter but next boot it is increased again. Would that be the reason I cannot use the All share cat dongle? It worked fine on ICS rooted but not on JB. EDIT:
The is a thread in general about three flash counter with Doc Holiday and chainfire trying to figure this out. I think it's best if we post there.

Had to reset the dongle after updating to JB(stock root) then all worked fine. Before resetting, TV hung at connecting screen even tho phone said connected.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I tried resetting it several times but it still doesn't connect. I tried to but then says all share cast is closing to connection... I tried with stock recovery because I thought that maybe because the flash counter keeps resetting itself, thought CWM was resetting the counter but even with the stock recovery it doesn't work. Samsung really sucks with what they did with this update... there is no way to keep the flash counter at zero....

I updated with wildchild's Odin firmware then flashed his stock de-odexed rom with twrp. Used triangle away one time and reset the dongle and everthing is working as it should.

I don't think it has anything to do with the rom, this problem came up for me after rooting. does anyone no of any file changes when rooting ? my allshare is not working if i flash it back to stock rom
would like to know the answer also. My non rooted note 10.1 works fine. My rooted Note 2 doesn't
Run Triangle Away. That worked for me!

Not working for me. What ROM are you on? Custom recovery or stock? Stock kernel or custom?
In the general forum is a thread about the flash counter and doc holiday and chain fire are trying to figure out what the cause is.
Here is the link.. Probably better if this gets discussed in in one central thread...

A friend of mine flashed the wrong modem on his phone and now can't get it to boot, it just boot loops, I tried putting the correct modem on it and same thing, I also tried flashing the zip file to return the phone completely back to stock and it still continues to do the same thing, can anyone help me out?
Not personally knowing if flashing the "wrong modem" can perma-brick Samsung stuff, I might recommend you try Odin'ing back to stock before giving up. (Sorry, can't link you, on my phone and watching a movie.) I'm sure one of our esteemed members will point you in the right direction to a "one click". Or tell you that you're cooked.

You arent cooked. You need to use a one click that will destroy data. You dont want the no data version.

If i was you, i would try to flash this stock unroot and see what happens. If this doesnt work, id try odin back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sh...tock with auto flash count reset(MC2 FIXED!)

Dude, from the time of your OP, until now? You could have read every dev thread here, and figured this out.
Look for a thread by the user Garwynn, he has the stock "one clicks". Download it and run it with your phone plugged into a computer.
Read the instructions. Easy peasy, man.

I have to reset my phone to send it in for warranty work. Can anybody link me to the factory image, preferably on a host with better than dial-up speeds? I keep trying the one in the sticky but since it goes through a BS host that wants a "premium" membership the download keeps ending prematurely.
Thanks

Buddy,
If you flashed anything, even once, it will show.
This phone has a counter.
I just went through this.
So if you just reflash stock, they will know and your guarantee will be voided !!!

Use Triangle-Away to reset the flash counter before you return to stock and it's all good.

Go to sammobile.com you can find alk the firmware there. Also before you odin flash stock do triangle away to reset counter. Because you need root for that.
My counter keeps saying 2 no matter what I try I followed the instructions. Help?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
Post what ROM you're on.
Triangle Away says it's always best to do it on a stock ROM.
Had the same problem, but there is a guide in the general section on how to unroot..... by DJ intrique (hope I spelled right). I followed that and worked beautifully.

Backup your current ROM.
Flash back to stock ROM and stock kernel. Even the debloated stock ROMs you find in the dev section should work,
Run triangle away.
Verify it worked.
Restore your backed up ROM.
Should take 10 minutes for this whole process, not counting the time to download the stock ROM.
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.
So after all that can I go back to my custom rom doing a re store?

Yup.
The counter only goes up when you flash something through Odin. If you reset it to 0 and flash 500 things from Recovery, the flash counter still stays at 0.
So if I wanted to Un root and return to stock how would I do that without tripping the flash counter don't I have to Odin?

You need the stock kernel & stock recovery I believe. CF Auto Root gives you just that and makes the process very simple.
