low volume during calls - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

This starting happening Friday afternoon. Up until Friday afternoon everything was fine. I went to answer a call and I couldn't hear the other person. Yet when I use my bluetooth headset or headphones I can hear them fine and they can hear me fine. I was on FreeGS3 R6 rom. Yesterday I tried Frosty JB 4.1.1 it didnt help with the voice calls. I just flashed the new Wicked rom and its still the same. Any help?

If it just happened all of a sudden like that, maybe something is stuck in your ear speaker or it went bad? Odin to stock and then reply if its better or not

Hey Abbens,
I couldn't agree with shehrammajld more. Odin back to stock, if the problem persists, call in and see if you can get it exchanged. On stock, there should be a volume boost option as well, if toggling it doesn't boost the volume, then you are probably looking at a hardware problem, and an exchange is pretty much your only option unless you want to start replacing parts yourself. Good luck!

I will try that thanks

[Q] No Sound In Call

There is absolutely no sound when I make a call or receive a call on my Evo 4g. The sound works fine on speaker and notifications and ringtones work as well. I recently rooted it using the revolutionary method and cant seem to figure out the issue. I have been using Mikg rom 2.61 but have tried flashing back to stock.
Any Ideas? sorry if this has been posted before
It's probably a hardware issue. I had an old slider phone that did the same thing, only worked on speaker.
You can unroot and take it in to Sprint and have them take a look at it if you can't find another solution.

well i'm confused because the sound works on everything else so it makes me think that it isn't a hardware issue. I however have no idea and would appreciate any ideas how to fix this
Did u make sure your incall volume was set in settings as well as thru the volume rocker I've found a few ROM's that had incall volume in the tweaks and even tho my volume rocker was up it was still really quiet until I turned the volume up in tweaks/settings

i recently had the same issue. when i answered the phone it went straight to speaker. i couldnt find any solution in the settings. before making a drastic decision like switching ROMS. i decided to shut off my phone. unplug the battery for a minute and rebooted. that was the soluiton. sometimes we as moders overlook the obvious.

The volume through the earpiece and the volume through the speaker are different speakers, unless I'm mistaken. Your notifications, ringtones, music, and putting it on speaker during a call all use the speaker on the back of the phone. The in-call volume is the only thing that uses the earpiece. Even if the two speakers are connected, it could still be a hardware issue.
There's an app that controls volume, and it has an option to turn the media volume lower than 0, which then routes the volume through the earpiece. I don't remember the name or where I saw it, but if you can find it then you could use it to diagnose.
If you run an RUU and the problem still persists, then it's most likely a hardware problem. At that point I would unroot and take it into Sprint for a replacement... unless you think you can replace it yourself.

I'm having the same issue, but it was working before I rooted it with revolutionary. After unrooting it stopped working back to stock. Why is that? Mind you I am now with metro pcs and the evo is new.
Do you guys have a car symbol in the notifaction bar?
If not, the ear speaker is easy and cheap to replace. Just search on eBay and you'll be able to find ones that give you a screwdriver to open the evo

[Q] No sound upon answering calls?

So I try and answer and the caller can hear me but I can'y hear them. I have tried wiping, fresh install, switched rom and kernals. Thought was fixed about a week ago then it started again today.... then sometimes works fine. Currently on Gummy Rom and franco kernal.

Tried it an there was no change. I have noticed if I don't have my bluetooth on that it happens almost never. Thanks for the effort so far!
Your phone probably think you have connected headphones.

Bad call sound quality?

Hey guys I'm currently running liquid smooth rc7 and the uvli radio and the people I am talking to on the phone are saying that the call quality isn't sounding very good. Can someone help me out?

Click the phone icon then menu setting and noise suppress try that I have the same problem and have not tried other radios yet but it may help. Idk if it has mine don't make many calls I'll know next time I call someone when I have to yell at them for them to hear me Lol. But try that
I had the same issue on this ROM too. In fact, all JB ROMs have this problem. I went back to ICS.

People with Headset volume issues after flashing

Can I get a show of hands for the amount of people who have this issue. I've tried numerous 4.3 & 4.4 roms and the e950tmobile fix and I still have the same issue. I can hear them, but they can't hear me. I'm trying to figure out if its limited to me or a small group of users. I'm so tempted to go back to stock and wait for the official 4.4 update.
I have what may be the same issue using T-mobile. If I use a 4.4 ROM with the handset mic, my voice fades in and out and is quite garbled. People describe it as sounding like I'm underwater. The behavior is somewhat different based on the ROM as follows:
4.3 ROM - no handset voice at all
most 4.4 ROMs - no handset voice without the Tmobile Kitkat fix. With the fix, voice using handset mic is as described above
ROMs based on stock - handset mic works fine.
Based on a little experimentation, I think the issue is the noice canceling mic on the top of the phone not being set up correctly by the ROM. If I block the small hole on the top of the phone, voice from the handset clears up somewhat, but is still very faint.
I think disabling the noice canceling mic may fix the the problem, but I haven't found a way to do it yet.
You can count me among those with volume issues on the AT&T E980. The only ROM I could count on was SlimBean, and thanks to recovery issues I can't even get back to that anymore. So I'm back to stock and hoping that we actually see an update to KitKat.

I'm currently running the V5 version of this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462453
But apparently, I had the same issue last night on this ROM. I received a couple of calls where people kept saying they couldn't hear me. I tested it this morning against voicemail, and the same garbled voice was back. I rebooted the phone and it cleared up.
Still think it's the noise canceling mic and would love to be able to disable it.

It's not too bad, just follow the directions closely (I think they're in the general section). After having done it so many times recently, I don't need to look at them anymore. Although it was difficult to go back to stock after having used Slim for so long!

[Q] Call and reception issue

Hello!
I have an unusual problem with my Note 2
Few days ago I tried to make a call but I couldn't - I heard the Note's sound that the call started but I heard no ringing. When a person picks up, I don't hear them and they don't hear me. When I hang up and redial, phone loses reception completely.
I thought that it is maybe an issue with mic and speaker, however Viber calls work fine. It is not an issue with SIM, it works fine in other phones.
I am running completely unrooted, never touched stock ROM.
I tried a factory reset and it didn't help.
Could anyone help me what this is and how can I fix it? Thanks!
