Thanks Btw, can I root on any firmware and still flash a new ROM or else I'll have to shift to yakju first and then go ahead?

You don't have to switch to yakju before you can root and/or flash a custom ROM.
Thanks. I got ics on it so I need ics yakju or even jb yakju is fine?
Thanks for answering my questions )

Hello
I'd like to know if the ICS 4.0.3 version is available for my Galaxy Nexus ? I didn't find it anywhere, but I'm surprised that Nexus S already have it but not Galaxy Nexus. As I have rooted my GN and installed Clockwordmod Recovery, I have to install the ICS 4.0.3 by myself as OTA will not be available, am I right ?
Thanks

Yep you have to install by yourself. I would recommend AOKP in the Android dev section here Good luck.
The nexus s no longer has 4.0.3

I also recommend AOKP - the newest release is REALLY nice! Great battery life and stability...I definitely prefer it over stock...
OK thanks a lot I will try AOKP asap...
Nexus S ics is out officially?

Hi my friends ,
ive been looking at stock rom 4.0.3 for gsm but couldnt find it ?
id be appriciated if anyone sends me a link
As far as I know the GSM version is still on 4.0.2, at least mine is. 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 are both for the CDMA version.

u should be wrong , ive seen many roms in developments page but none of them were stock rom
Officially, 4.0.2 is the latest version. Unofficially, there are ROMs with 4.0.3 and 4.0.4.
A 4.0.3 stock from can be built from source code. See the guide. But its not an official Google build as it has not been release officially.

Without open a new topic, can I flash with "ClockWorkMod" or stock recovery the factory images?
If not, do I have to use "Root toolkit"?
Thanks.

Hoi en welkom ;-)
I guess you just have to be patient. The update is rolled out in batches. Not all at once. Or you can flash it yourself. There are a lot of threads here on how to do that.

I hope you are being sarcastic.
All the files come directly from Google, not hosted by someone else.
Full images here: http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
Updates here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20843237&postcount=1
So unless Google or you do something to them, no one else surely would have.
And besides, the 4.0.4 update is not available yet for yakjuxw (the OP's build), only the full image.

Reading through the forums before asking would be a good start. There are so many helpful topics on the device and how to unlock/root/upgrade the OS. If a n00b like me could figure out how to get from 4.0.1 yakjuux to 4.1.1 from reading on XDA then anyone can. Good luck.

well what i am confused about that there is soooo many roms and radios to choose from and its a little overwhelming because i had not had this many choices since i had a Samsung Epic, and since then i came from phones that pretty much had 1 or 2 roms the stratosphere and droid 4. and i kinda forgot about all the flashing and stuff. does this phone use odin to do it's flashing? i tried google and it says the verizon copy of this phone has a locked bootloader but there is a way to unlock it.
i just want a rom that has a clean,Fast,Jellybean, with root and no bloatware and good radio. something that i can edit the boot animations easy.
i was looking at the Vicious Toro rom and that looks like the best for me, i was also looking at that Gnex toolkit v7.4 is that what i use to unlock the bootloader and flash roms?

Use bigxies it's just aosp jb but rooted and deodexed. Also leave the toolkits to the noobs, better to do it manually - fastboot oem unlock, etc.

Can't flash takju or yakju (which are for the GSM Nexus) on a CDMA Nexus. And there is no official JB update for the CDMA Nexus yet, so he'll need a custom ROM if he doesn't want to wait.

yea i was a little confused on that part because i was thinking this was the toro and those were the GSM devices. i just wanna know what is the easy way to go from Stock 4.04 to the Vicious JB rom with root and unlocked bootloader.
i guess what is getting to me is that there is just so much stuff other there and so many ways to root and flash stuff and i was soo hooked with Odin and then i had to go to the motorola Side of things and did not enjoy that at all. but it has been way more then a year since i last flashed roms and stuff like that
also i noticed there is tons of kernels to use as well with the vicious rom.the faux one looks the best as it has a OC with it

it seems XDA should of gave CDMA and GSM devices there own General forum lol i could of been flashing GSM stuff for all i know
but i think i got everything down for when my phone comes tomorrow. been studying the toolkit and reading about how to flash roms through CWM app and kernels
should i just leave the radio alone or is there a better copy?
You'll find this phone easy to root and flash Roms on. Not easy to brick. Try all the roms . That's the great thing about the nexus, so much to choose from.

The answers to your two questions are no and no.
But you can do an ADB backup, copy that and your files to your PC, then wipe and install yakju JB.
Edit: more info in the basics and flash links in my signature.
