I've just noticed that I can't have more than 2 PM's in my mailbox. How do I get that limit removed?
Is it a donation thing, or what?
Thanks in advance...

You must be misunderstanding. I only have a few more posts than you do and I have a 2,000 PM limit.

That doesn't sound right The limit should be a lot more than 2...
I'll have a look
Hmm... Nothing untoward here. Could you use the contact form at the bottom of any page, and it will get passed on to the right person
Thanks for checking on this. I have contacted the WebMaster via the contact form.
EDIT:
I just checked again, and it now says 2,000, not the 2. I had logged out and logged back in, multiple times.. Tried different browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox)..
I don't get it...
EDIT: Here is what I see when I go to my PM area...
FOLDER CONTROLS
Inbox contains 0 messages.
You have 0 messages stored, of a total 2,000 allowed. (Empty Folder)

It as become a huge annoyace to continuesly click "download images" for my mail. I've been searching for a long time find a reg key some where that'll change this, but no look. in the ogirnal thread, there is mention that the samsung i8000 has the setting disabled by default. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4631247&postcount=29

200 points for this man!
This question was asked way back in June 07!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311030
It does give an explanation in the thread as to why you might not want to automatically download messages... basically you could suddenly find you are swamped with even more junk mails..

i am not even sure how to make sense of what was said in that thread. I dont see how allowing automatic download for html images in an email will increase spam to the mail account. at this point in the game, winmo is the only platform that doesnt allow html rendering by default. if this were true, then woulding everyone else who doesnt use a windows mobile device be flooded with spam?
Umm... pretty sure that my GMAIL account handles the SPAM ok.
I'm still going to look into this a bit more, but I have been super busy today.
As i understand what is said, spam senders send messages to accounts generated at random hoping some of them get to a proper account. The pictures that are in the email are encoded with email address it is sent to eg. [email protected] so that if you download that image the server knows that is a valid email address and is noted.. and spread for everyone else to send you a message...

Yes... that's exactly correct....except it goes to a server not an email address... basically the concept is that it notifies the sender that the email is legit, and adds them to the list of good email addresses to sell

like l3it3r said, my spam filter does a great job. can't tell you the last time i've seen spam come through my inbox. thats a none issue over here.
me either. It is a very rare occasion when I get spam in either my corporate or personal email.
if thats a problem we could atleast try to have an option to "trust this sender" or something to automatically download html pics from trusted sources
have added this thread to my subscriptions and will watch with interest
This is something that I have found annoying for a long time now that I can't just download the images in my emails by default. I really expected it to be an easy fix and that I would find an answer straight away along the lines of "...change this one line of the registry to '0' ... " so I was really surprised to see it was a much more complicated issue.
Anyway thanks in advance to anyone with the tech knowhow who is looking into this for us all
maybe its possible to make some script or something that presses automaticly "download pictures" when email opened... i have no idea how or if its possible but maybe someone can...
For Outlook on desktop computer this is possible on registry hack. On mobile outlook this registry key is not persist...?!
http://email.about.com/od/outlookexpressreading/qt/et_inline_off.htm
Maybe is possible on other location?
I'm looking for a solution to this as well. I would like the option to trust certain senders, at least. I can't believe Microsoft didn't trust us enough to give us an option for this. I would also like to have scrolling permanently enabled.
If you add the sender to your contacts, it will automatically download the images. This is the only way I have ever known to make this work, it would be great if someone figured it out, but until then this is the only work around I know.
i would like to have this function as well.. is great that my email mostly need image downloaded together.. when i got slow connection, i would like it to download all n internet picture together while it is idle. then once i got time i can faster read it all without further waiting for downloading.
thumbs up for this feature. at least have an option so that user can tweak themselves. no nid to argue about anything but juz let user make the choice accordingly.
DEFINITELY need to have this automatically download internet pictures AND turn on scrolling..... what's the point of having such a great screen and touch capabilities when the stupid email can't figure out how to show you pictures and let you scroll right?
HUGE oversight on Microsoft's part there - email should look as nice and classy as Opera does on my TP2!!!
UP !!!
I am still looking over this. Its really annoying and kills me. What a waste?
I added xda-developers.com to my white list but I am still not be notified of replies (I do have Instant email notification enabled).
Is there another domain name I should add so that I can receive the notifications? Thank you!

Any instant notifications should come from webmaster (at) xda-developers.com
Have you told it to send one for PMs, or subscribed threads?
Yes I have add that function as well. My memory is not that great so I do rely on these emails.
The other interesting issue is that I do not get replies from the androidforums. I checked, and it seems you might use Google to the email relay? Do you know if an SPF record is in there? Otherwise, my hosting company might be able to overright the spam settings
My XDA account tells me I have 93 messages stored.
But, I can only see 5 in my inbox, and 3 in my sent folder.
I need to retrieve some data from an older message - how do I do that ?
How do I access my "older" messages ?
There was a Private Message clearing that took place a few months ago. It was posted as an announcement, new story and on twitter and facebook.
Here's the portal page on the matter : http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/private-message-cleaning-52611/

Is this a sick joke ?
They didn't even send out a private message to the users? :O
Anyway, since they removed it... How do I request a full restore of my deleted messages ?

Currently using the stock email program with my Samsung Epic Touch, which doesn't seem to have an option to delete multiple emails at one time.
Anyone have a work around so one can delete multiple emails at once? In other-words...a select all messages, so you don't have to select each message one by one.
If not, anyone know of an email client that allows multiple email deletion at one time?
Thank you,
Skid
kaiten email does just that..been using it for several months now..

Thanks to all who replied and i apologize for not explaining this better.
What I want to do is...delete all messages rather than selecting each one, one by one.
In other-words...have an option for -select all messages - and then have the option to delete them all at one time so you don't have to check each message, one by one.
Thank you,
Skid

This is not possible with the stock email app.
This is why most people who want to access pop3 accounts use a 3rd party email app. The stock email app also sucks for IMAP accounts that have any real security on them.
Try one of the free email apps in the market... K-9 is actually pretty good, and is what I use to access my work email.

Hi guys!
Was searching, but no luck.
When i replay/quick replay to a private message here on xda it does not show anywhere my replied messages. It shows me 2 received an 0 sent messages. When i open the one in inbox it shows me just the inital meassage, but no replied message, even tho i sent a replay twice. The icon of the msg is in "replied" state. I am using Firefox 10 if that has anything to do with it.
Or am i missing something?

Yes. Yes you are
Go to your user control panel - USER CP link in the top menu - and then go to "Edit Options" in the left menu. Scroll down to "Messaging & Notification" and check "Save a copy of sent messages".

Or do you have ptyalism working on your keyboard?
Edit: post related to this replay is deleted (this post was not aimed at Archer)
