Any fully finished rom? (more about partitioning, installing...) - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I found here a lot of custom ROMs, but everyone has some bugs, and issues, there is no fully functional ROM...
Or there is?
I'm currently on Cyanogenmod9 RC2 by Maclaw, and I like it very much, but I can't connect my phone to PC (I can connect just from CWM), and I heard that Bluetooth is not working (haven't tried it yet)...
So, what is the most functional ROM for Galaxy Gio???
P.S. I heard that story about Maclaw, that he won't develop anymore, and I don't think he should pay attention on that, because there's a lot of people who likes and enjoys his work. And we would like if he could finish CM9 and make one very good ROM. And of course, continue with CM10 and more ROMs.

All 2.3.6 roms are fully functional.

I've tried phiexz's CM7, it's very stable, but it has some little bugs here and there...

Thanks for suggestions!
I think I'll install droidGio v2.2, but I have some questions.
Can I go from CM9 to CM7 without any problems? Just flash another rom?
And one more thing, I'd like to use a2sd applications, but I don't have another partition on my SD card, and I don't have card reader too.
So, is it safe to partition my SD with CWM?
And when I do that, do I need anything else or I should just install link2sd, or something like that, and move my apps to SD card?
And if there is anything else I should know, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

when partitioned my sd al my stuff was gone so before doing anything backup on ur pc
---------- Post added at 02:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:59 PM ----------
and with amarulz data-sd ext script you can have about 1g internal memory so link to sd not needed

So, you partitioned with CWM, and it's ok?
And, ok, ill backup my stuff.
Where can I find something more about that script or more about moving apps to sd?

[Q] Best a2sd method and script?

I know I probably seems like a noob because I have like 1 post but I just havent got arpund to posting until now... Anyway
I have an HTC Desire running cm7 and I was wondering what the best method of obtaining more internal memory is? I have an 8gb sd card with 500mb set as sd-ext, but I dont know how to fully use it can anyone elaborate on the use of these scripts?
I havent seen any really upto date posts on this so I thought I would ask, theres bound to be a thresd somewhere but you know...

don't know whether that method works on cm7
a couple of things that i know of:
1. S-OFF (search revolutionary) and change partition table to something like cm7r2, check alpharev. your internal memory goes up from stock (only 147MB) to 287MB.
2. flash an A2SD script such as Darktremor to make the most of your ext partition. it won't appear as extra internal memory, just tricks apps to move them there. keep all your apps on internal though i.e. don't manually move them to SD.
3. a different option, separate from A2SD is a data2sd script, don't know much about these, but have a look if they interest you. they extend the internal memory (adding your actual internal + ext)
and nandroid backup before trying any of this.
should have plenty of space after that!
I would combine 1 and 2.

Yes, but as title suggests, it's designed to work only with Supernova. If you want a generic data2sd installer, visit Sibere's data2sd thread.

...and enlarge your sd-ext probably to 1GB
I wouldn't recommend data2sd on 500MB, pretty pointless. If you're going to do it, do it properly
i have S-OFF already and ill look at the partition tables thing too see if that would help thanks, i tried simple2ext or something like that and i had to restore my nandroid is it functioned horribly so ill also look at darktremor
EDIT:
Ill extend it to 1gb then if you think its needed i have like 4gb free on my sd and i could get a 16gb if i could be bothered...
It certainly seems a waste of the script, lol.

I have an faq you can read, which will help. Then if you're still unclear...
Its the adb and fastboot faq via the link in my signature (guides etc). Just skiup the adb stuff as its not relevant.
First read and understand that. Dont do anything yet. Just read
I know how to use fastboot its just that alpharev says flash then wipe cache which is fine but then says "wipe everything and restore" I dont really get that?
I am very happy with CM7 and an ext4 1gb partition made useable for apps and dalvik moved by this tool: S2E (search for it in Android Market)

You should be fine with nandroid backup, flash hboot, nandroid restore.
It never hurts to format system, cache and data via recovery (cwm based) or via fastboot commands

Thanks for clarifying that, I just didn't understand why wipe then restore ... But they just say that to make sure the chances of error are extremely minimal and so it's not needed thanks again I'll flash it tomorrow night

[Q] Kernel question

1st Post. Awesome place!
This is my story:
Love my EVO but was getting low in memory and learned that the only way to get rid of the crap was rooting the phone, so I did that. Got rid of the crap thur TB but still that was not good enough.
Read here how to partition my SD card and did it and noticed that the card was partitioned but my memory was still low. Then I realized that the stock app2sd does not work that way so I downloaded darktremors app to realize that DT does not work with stock ROMs, crap!
I gathered enough courage to flash my first ROM so I can take advantage of my partitioned card and started reading info about that.
I'm inclined to flash CM7 Latest Nightly 30MAR since it looks like is pretty steady since I'm not going to flash ROMs every week. Also, I read that the stock kernel works with that ROM. Here's my question: I will do a complete wipe to flash the new ROM but if I do that, am I wiping the kernel?
Please be gentle with this newbie

Yes, when you wipe, it will also wipe the kernel. There's the kernel that will come with the rom. Or you can flash another aosp kernel. Just remember to do nandroid first.

Thanks you! Where I can find a working kernel that works with the ROM I mentioned above? Sorry to ask but this is all new to me and there's many choices and opinions!

With CM7? I'm a big advocate of the Tiamat kernels (namely 3.3.7 - and I use the SBC version) as it as always treated my device the best when running AOSP ROMs.
And should you flash the ROM, go through the setup, flash a different kernel and things don't seem right, you can always flash the ROM again (wiping cache and dalvik cache) and it'll just replace the kernel. But that's also why you make a nandroid, in case something more serious arises.

If you don't like that then check out the link at the bottom for step by step on how to get a great aosp setup going. Low memory means that you have too many apps right? I've found that you don't need to partition your SD. You can just use the stock move app to SD option in cm7.
You may however be talking about low ram in which case your apps are staying open and using up ram.
Doing my setup will get rid of that and make your phone very speedy and efficient.

see the thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
might it ll work for you.good luck.
EDIT:
i open thread of your rom,it said they installed a2sd ,so you can't port other script before removing first one.you can use only one script.
read these lines:
A cursory warning that this rom has A2sd installed; so, one will definately want to format their sd card [and particularly /sd-ext] correctly. I recommend [for this rom] ext2 on /sd-ext not over 1.5 gigs, no swap, whatevers left or you prefer to set for fat32. Also, though written in, you might want to dl and install A2SDGUI from market;
so int2ext+ definately wont work because this script already installed in your phone. its old one i think darktremor.

What can I do with GB Stock ROM??

My Desire belongs to my significant other since I bought One X
She is not a demanding user. She browses, reads local news, listens some music, plays some games, uses various messanging softwares.
Battery is important to her.
Eventually, internal memory ran out, so she wants me to help her.
I S-OFFed her phone few days a go (using revolutionary), installed custom recovery (CWM), and rooted it.
I also have read a lot in this forum (because it is rather silent in One X forum these days ), including how to partition SD card and how to set up EXT4 partition (I guess I will use EXT4 recovery for it, although I have downloaded gparted, too).
What I would like to know is:
Is it possible to dedicate EXT4 partition on SD card as extention to internal memory in stock ROM? How can I do that?
How can I delete not needed HTC applications from system and/or data (strange, but SD Maid Pro doesn't work)? What damage can I cause? How much memory can I release that way?
Which ROM I can try, having in mind stability, and battery? Which super lite ROM you would recommend?
Thanks in advance...

I'm afraid I did something wrong.
To repeat, I am on a stock ROM, S-OFF, rooted. I installed Mount2SD, but probably did something wrong with it.
Was I suppose to "format sd ext", and "mount sd ext"?
EDIT: I did the above fformat/mount. Still the same. Going to some custom ROM now.
EDIT 2: when I open Mount2sd application, in storage section, under "External Data" it says N/A! Why is that?
Attached is the fastboot screen before and after S-OFF. The hboot changed. Is this one good?
I think RSK Sattelite Rosie 8.0 in Aroma said something about stock hboot, which needed to update. This one stuck just after the boot animation.
Installed RSK Special Edition Odexed instead, which seems to be working fine.
Also tried MildWild CM-8.0 JG. It's amazing how small that one is. Didn't like the apperance, though. Looks much like our daughter's ZTE Atlas.

[Q] Still Unable to Partition sd card using 4EXT in rooted S-OFF STOCK ROM?

coming to the point:-
*my desire is rooted,s-off and have official stock rom gingerbread 2.3.3, software no. 3.14.
.i used 4EXT Method to partition 1GB from 16gb mmc and the process went pretty good inside 4EXT Recovery. (i tried both 3ext,4ext type ).
when phone rebooted, there is no extra space for ext.partition in freespace app, system app and still getting low space error.?
* m i missing something?
p.s i didnt install any a2sd script using emulator because i dont have it :/
i dont have pc so i cant use gparted method.
help me using 4ext method.
Lol u can't just make the partition and suddenly have your apps move to the ext. You need a script.
First of all I would recommend flashing a custom ROM. Try mildwilds oxygen ROM since its very fast, stable, and comes preinstalled with a2sd.
All you need to do at this point since you've already done everything like partitioning and what not, is flash the ROM.
Download it, put it onto your SD, reboot into 4ext and go into the wipe menu. Then format all partitions except SD card. Finally choose install zip from SD card, navigate to the ROM u downloaded and flash it.
Then all the apps u install will be automatically installed onto the ext partition u made on the SD card.
Here's the download link BTW:

I'm not promoting it... In fact I've never even used it. I was just recommending it to you since from what I've heard, its one of the most stable and bug free ROMs for the desire. As a bonus it comes with a2sd preinstalled, so your apps will be installed to the ext partition out of the box.
The ROM is GB, it just has a jelly bean like ui. If you want something like the stock sense ROM, try using the one dvsk69 suggested above.

oops, I forgot to add punctuation. Jmcclue has linked to some which he has experience of, but RSK did have a sense rom, I ran it for maybe 6 months.
I'll try again

coming to the point:-
*my desire is rooted,s-off and have official stock rom gingerbread 2.3.3, software no. 3.14.
.i used 4EXT Method to partition 1GB from 16gb mmc and the process went pretty good inside 4EXT Recovery. (i tried both 3ext,4ext type ).
when phone rebooted, there is no extra space for ext.partition in freespace app, system app and still getting low space error.?
* m i missing something?
p.s i didnt install any a2sd script using emulator because i dont have it :/
i dont have pc so i cant use gparted method.
help me using 4ext method.

I had exactly same problem with using deo roms. After using this method i can install any custom ROM and 4ext is working for 90%.

Due the fact some custom ROMs have preinstalled 2SD different way, Im using scripts attached below the instructions. If script isnt working ( 1%) of all cases, Im using apps showing storage information - if the system information are showing still low memory it doesnt mean its not working. Its needed to use only external app to see reality.( lot of them is on google play).
I hope it will help, cos Im satisfied with it for 100% on all of my adroids .
