Try to reinstall superSU it works better on jelly bean than superuser. If you use superuser on a jelly bean rom your more likely to have problems

Doesn't work properly, doesn't update binary

Flash this CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip
Then update binary.

Both work properly. You are probably flashing an older version of each.

(PROBLEM SOLVED- Thanks efrant ! )Problem updating my nexus to JB 4.1

Guys help me
Basically
I got jelly bean OTA 4.1
It downloaded
Now it asked me to reboot.
I did
It went to recovery
And it started to install..
Then I kept my device
And when I came back
I saw it was ICS .
Nothing changed. WTF? How's that possible?
When I went again settings > system updates there is no OTA.
And I am fully stock with right recovery, bootlooder etc..
OK problem solved . I installed it via CWM. No problems at all
Thanks!

yes!
You probably have something that is not stock. It is too hard to tell if you are using the stock recovery. Easiest way to install it is to look at my update thread and manually install it using CWM.

Install clockworkmod recovery by getting the maguro image from http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-toro.img
flash superuser zip http://download.chainfire.eu/197/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.93.zip

You can always download a ZIP of LI3 and extract the APK from the ZIP. That is what I did to recover Swype that I had deleted in order to take the update.

Rooting Jelly Bean is the same at rooting ICS... but you will not get WiFi Tether to work.
NOOB question:
I'm on the previously leaked LIF JB ROM....so how do I go from that to the OTA "official" LJ7 ROM?

I have my S3 rooted as well only for the use of the WiFi Tethering app. Are you saying that once the the JB update is applied and the phone is rooted once again that the WiFi Tether app will no longer work?

That is exactly what I am saying.
If you need Wi-Fi tether then you should stay back on ICS until the developers of WiFi tether have this issue worked out.

Thanks for the reply.
So how do I get rid of this update notification that I've been getting for the last couple weeks. It's not a firmware update but a Samsung Software update that's 81.5 MB. I keep telling it "Install Later" but it pops up every hour or so. I tried once installing it but got the dead Android - red triangle guy.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
You the man Tim
Apple just give up the IPHONE sucks deal with it.
I'm running paranoid android and I can't tell what the original build number is. How do I tell which update to download or does it matter?
81.5mb update I believe is for 4.0.4 not jb
Hows everyone's battery after jb update? Just downloaded it a bit skeptic to install it as many are reporting issues with drain

Just curious for the people who are having issues with wifi tethering have you tried
"Wifi tether for root users" in the google play store?
Just wondering if that works

Sorry to be so needy, I've checked other threads and the apply_patch_check assertion comes up, but with a specific apk as the culprit. Hoping someone recognizes the error message below.
assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:/dev/block/mmcblk0p7:5714176:66e3b4975660009f6e202abb943d037945446642:5748892:988ceebec698c56e61f2ffc911b199817b9e209", "988ceebec698c56e61f2ffc911b199817b9e209", "66e3b4975660009f6e202abb943d037945446642")
My S3 is unrooted stock with stock recovery, 4.0.4, base band L710VPLI3, build IMM76D.L10VPALI3, status is normal, no flash counter.
I've had it rooted in the past, and was using CWM recovery, but brought it back to stock to receive the OTA update. I've also downloaded the update file three different times, the MD5 sum is always the same, and I check it after transferring to my external SD.
My SD is a 32GB Fat32 Sandisk, and I have a 4600mah Mugen battery installed.
[ Update ]
Well, it's no matter now, I wiped everything, used Odin to install LEN, took the OTA updates, and have just successfully installed the Jelly Bean Update. I researched a bit more and I think /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 is the mount point for /recovery, my guess is something wasn't quite right with my stock recovery.

4.2 OTA Update; Will I lose Root?

You will lose root. I did when I upgraded my device from 4.1.2 to 4.2. I just flashed the attached zip and I got rooted. I lost it again when I later upgraded to 4.2.1 but same as before you can use the same zip to get rooted again.

I tried to do it but it came up with the Droid on his back with a /!\ symbol. It restarted the phone and said "Unlocked bootloader! Please Re-Lock" I'll relock it today and try to update :crying:

Layers Manager?

When I install the app and install a layer it asks me to reboot and I do and then nothing is applied. I can't seem to get this to work. I am stock rooted 6.0.1 and gave SU access to layers Manager when it asked for it. Any ideas?

I have busy box installed but not the on rails version. I rooted with nexus root tool kit. On stock rom 6.0.1. I downloaded the latest version I saw on his pushbullet website and still didn't work. So maybe busy box on rails is the answer to make this work?

Yes, you need that version.
The whole process is also a bit different if you are using systemless root.
If you are rooted with SuperSU 2.52 you are on the right track.

I probably should have linked this to you earlier. Just ignore the first part about Cataclysm. All the root stuff and notes at the end are relevant.
