Hi,
I have the international One X. Have a few questions / complaints (whatever you want to call them)
1) I find the battery on this phone in stock ICS even with everything turned down empties quickly. Even the 1600mAh on my Captivate Glide lasts longer, atleast a day and a half with routine use. The One X requires the charger at the end of the day. I am not a power used and I dont play too many games either Is this a known problem and is there a way to resolve it?
2) Using WiFi off my home LAN, I find the One X disconnects / loses the connection frequently. It still shows connected but doesnt browse / download apps etc. My Glide doesnt seem to have the same problem as often. Is this a known problem as well?
3) Camera images indoor appear grainy / noisy. I havent really tried it outdoors yet though
4) Speaker sound level is really low. The Captivate Glide is definately louder

1. Take it time to settle, and you will get used to it, trust me
2. How long have you had the phone? If less than 28 days, then do the wifi squeeze test (quick search on youtube will show you how), and if you find your phone is faulty, your retailer will have to exchange
3. Thats odd .. my photos have been awesome and my friends cant believe that I took it with a phone!
Careful with squeeze test as that can damage the phone if you gorilla grip and get all excited lol

I have had this One X for a coupl of months now, I got it 'second hand' from a friend who bought it in April (and wanted to go to the S3). I guess it must have settled by now.
Is there some batter test I can use?
With the camera, I told you I took them indoors, didnt use flash. Let me do some testing.
What about the speaker volume?

allright guys. After reading the whole thread i see this is truely crazy how much people have this probem. Yesterday i got my second one. And with my second one i have the same issues...I am pretty sure it is a software related issue:
OR
The phone's kernel is ****ed up (battery issues, bad voltage on screen)
OR
there is something wrong with the G-sensor:
Go to your screen settings, and on the bottom of the you can calibrate your G-sensor. When you do this, you see both of the green dots go insane like the screen do!
What do you think guys?
The green dots don't go insane on mine, just slightly up and down. I was waiting for something a little more interesting hehehe

Why? I'm just trying to make a statement on this problem. And try to solve this. Monday i get my third HTC One X. The first X, suffer from screen flickering, mostly on greyish fields the second one, has it too. Both HT23 devices. Both problems.
Personally i'm studying IT, so i only try to get a possible statement with the knowledge i have, and with the custom ROM flash knowledge i have during very very much flashings with my Galaxy S.
I'm just trying to get a possible solution. Is this software or hardware? I dont' know for sure. Maybe Paul O Brien can say something about this problem. I'm out of thoughts.
We don't know, some phones have it some don't. Nothing indicating any differences between phones that have it and phones that don't.
Difficult to tell at this stage. We need a brave soul to check for loose connections but I bet no one will tear their HOX apart to find out.
Knock on wood my second one has no screen strobing as of yet 1 day old so far.
Keep replacing until you get one that doesn't flicker is the only solution for the time being.

What we need is HTC to pull their finger out of their arse, and rip one apart that was sent back doa, and then tell us what it is, tbh they probably are doing this, but need more samples of the problem to be 100% sure of it

I have been reading everyday since the day it came out... the same day I bought it.
Hope you all don't mind but I have quite a few questions/frustrations
1st, Battery life is killing me... cannot make it through a day, I have put my screen on auto which seems a lot dimmer than set to 40 or 60%. All I do is play some solitaire, check mail a lot, a little bit of net, maybe 30 minutes of calls (tops) a few txt msgs, with maybe 2 hours or slightly more of screen time.
External speaker is embarrassing... tried showing a video to a friend with an iphone and felt like flushing the damn phone after he did the same.
Data connectivity is still hit and miss... one minute I have 4 bars of 4G and the next I have none.
I am on (details in sig) 4.0.4 (Craig Gomez version) with the newest radios. The device is a serious work tool for me so I really don't have the time to try different ROMS or kernels all the time... I need it always ready for calls, emails and occasional RDP or Logmein sessions .
For those of you have actually tried many/experienced in the world of various ROMs & kernels... do you have a suggestion of what to do with my setup?
Between the battery and data connectivity I feel the phone is close to crap... my friends with Razors have none of these problems and I feel like I am ready to snap.
BTW... if you could be even more kind... if you have a suggestion on what to run, could you suggest a brief set of instructions... i.e. nandriod, full wipe, install this first that second...
Thanks for any and all help... I sure would like to come up with or remember a reason why I have this and not a razor max.
Do you have the latest radios? That will make a difference. I do know the speaker is weak. There's not much to do but for a volume hack, some roms have it enabled.
Id ask for a replacement phone if battery is that bad and you can't get a decent signal anywhere but other phones can. Sounds like a defective phone.
I've been using Android Revolution for about 2 weeks, and as for today, I don't think there's anything as good as it. It's just like stock, just a little bit faster. I have great battery life, 5 to 6 Hours of screen on time, AutoBrightness, sync on, wifi always on, etc, it's pretty good, you should give it a try.
I've also used AOKP (with FrancoKernel and with stock kernel), and even tho I liked all extra features, in my experience, with screen off, it drains battery a looot faster that stock/ARHD.
I used an app called equalizer to fix the speaker

Autobrightness will kill your battery more than a static 40 or 60%.
2 hours of screen on time seems normal for the Verizon Nexus.
Try the volume + app for your speaker problems.
There are some kernels that have sound boosts built in.
Signal drops means you should exchange the phone. Use the insurance.
Honestly if you hate the phone as much as it sounds, just get a different phone.

Perfect response.
Don't get me wrong... I in no way "hate" phone, if I did I would have gotten rid of it.
I'm frustrated not stupid.
I am amazed that Verizon hasn't done something about it... most of the buyers of this phone are not IT savvy rooters... my phone works a lot better than stock, I cannot imagine how frustrated someone on 4.0.2 would be.
Anyway... I am going to take it back to stock and return it... guess I will try it (the new one) out stock but I know I will want it rooted. Guess I'll try some of the suggested software\ROMS.
I wonder what a stock one is coming with these days?

Well... things just changed again.
Just talked with Verizon and he asked if I installed the update pushed out on the 25th? I told him I will give it a shot and get back to them.
Anyone got instructions for reverting back to stock?

This is my first Android phone. I had iPhone, 3g, and 4 before grabbing the One X. I thought spec wise this phone is amazing, I love the screen and camera so much and ICS finally made Android as smooth if not smoother than iPhones with GPU acceleration. Now I am having issues that's making me think about returning it.
Issues
-Pandora randomly skips songs and buffers a lot
-No lock screen controls on Pandora
-Bought two games on the Play store (Worms & GTA3), they do not work
-The main home screen (the one that it goes to when you hit the home button), changes on me, and nobody seems to know how to set it.
-If you use a pattern screen lock, you still have to slide the ring open before you can do the pattern
Are these Android issues or One X issues? Do you think they will get solved, and how soon? I have 9 days to return this, seriously considering it and just using my iPhone 4 until the new iPhone comes out. Any and all opinions are appreciated.
Thanks

If you felt like reading more... I absolutely love the HOX. The screen is gorgeous and such a pleasure to use. I love the camera as well, it takes amazing pictures, and they looks great on said gorgeous screen. I really want to like this phone, but some of these issues are deal breakers for me and worry me about just putting up with issues like these for two years.
/edit Posted in wrong section, this is an AT&T variant. Can't see where to delete this, so a mod can move it or I suppose it's mostly relevant here.
I would return my phone if the battery life was extremely poor, too much lag, too many bugs or screen flickering. Not cause there no lock screen controls for pandora or you have to unlock the ring after a password. But if those are deal breakers for you then yes, you should return it.
To be honest, this is an amazing phone, it is beautiful, fast and smooth.
To optimize it however, I would suggest rooting it and using a custom rom, which might (just might, don't know for sure) fix your homescreen problem, and for the Pandora and the games you bought, try un-installing and re-installing, if that doesnt work ; email the developers asking for help or answers, I emailed before for 'ISyncr' and got a reply and a fix in less than 2 hours.
Also, for the pull the ring before pattern, im sure on an iphone you haveto slide it before you can put it in number to unlock? Hope this helps
Thanks for the replays. since I want to like this phone so much, I'll try to.root it tomorrow. I work tomorrow so it will be later.
Not sure if I'll get an answer here, but if I root and try some roms will I be able to return it to stock and return it? as I said above, I'm on the AT&T one x.

So being a good xda noob, should I go create another thread while this one is still open? I don't know why they don't have the option to delete your own threads, especially when I had no replies on it.
My HTC One X JUST came into the mail today and I want to get started and get my favorite custom software already. However, the fact that my phone could possibly have a problem out of the box, if I start doing dev stuff, I lose my warranty. Should I wait a bit? I feel like I would notice if anything was wrong already.

Personally I would hold off at least a week just to make sure. Cause you would be kicking yourself if you do have a problem and HTC decide to try and charge you for it cause your unlocked.

That's a very good point.
Some common problems with the device sometimes only show up after a few days use and sometimes HTC wont repair your device if it's rooted, even if it's a hardware problem.
After a week any problems that it might have should have showed up
Thanks guys! Yeah I was kind of thinking the same thing. I suppose I can live with Stock for a week while I test everything out. I would definitely be pissed at myself if they wouldn't service it simply because I wanted Adblock over the next week. haha.
I usually give it a month or so before I do anything to void my warranty. I've had phones before that had something wrong with them that I didn't notice until they were no longer under warranty, so I give it a while before I bother. Plus, this phone is undoubtedly much faster than your previous, so even stock it should be a sizable boost. Enjoy it as it is for a little while, then when you put custom software, you'll get that boost again!
I had mine rooted and flashed straight out the box.
Your call though...

DONT DO IT YET. i had mine for 2 days, after 2 days yellow tinting appeared on it, i am definitely going to wait a few weeks when HTC send it back, hopefully we will have S off then
Give it a week or two. Longer the safer.
Thanks guys! You rock. I'm definitely gonna wait. I'm thinking a week or two so I can test every feature which I haven't been able to test (blue tooth, tethering, and more) or even discover for that matter.
And yes, I came from the Moto Milestone 2 to the Moto Backflip... To the One X. The experience isn't even comparable. I am so happy with the improvement I am just giddy over the fact that I have this super phone. No rush to throw custom on it when it's already this good. Only SERIOUS reason I would unlock for at the moment would be battery and AdFree purposes but for real, the battery isn't that bad.. Idk why people keep hating on it. I am a pretty heavy user too. I mean, it's got some serious hardware to run!

I have ordered one. Wanted to know if someone has used it with Galaxy S3?
Using it since last two days. All is good. Using it after fully charging and after about 28hours watch battery is about 70%, although my phone battery is bow draining much quicker.
One problem that I am having is that it will some how loose connection and won't connect then unless I unpair and pair again.
That happens about once or twice in a day.
Still testing and keep you guys update..........
Well as days have passed my smartwatch is now working more better but battery draining on the phone side is still a worry (maybe it's just cause now I have continuous Bluetooth connectivity)
Well for me all is working good and only thing I miss is more add-ons but then more add-ons require more syncing that will make battery drain more and the smartwatch get slow.
The connection lost problem I mentioned before is not here now but still sometimes my smartwatch gets dc and then reconnects again ( I think that's only cause the smartwatch app is killed by taskmanager on my phone)
All n all. Its working great for now and I am really enjoying it. It's more easier to keep my phone silent now and still easily knot miss a call.
Any good add ons links are appreciated

it does work well i have personally used one for months
the only issue i have is charging it can be a pain because of the connector.
Im leaning more toward the Pebble Watch once it release's or maybe the Metawatch By Fossil.

I'm very interested in the Galaxy Watch, but I'd be more tempted to go third party, just because Anyone have any suspicions that the Galaxy will be the game changer, or more of the same?
