Dear Folks,
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus that is rooted.
Sometime this week, my SMS messaging system app stopped working.
I've done the following and the problem has not been resolved.
1) Cleared Data/Cache for the Messaging app
2) Deleted and reinstalled the Messaging app
3) Reinstalled my JB Rom, Vicious 4.1.1
4) Installed a different JB Rom, Cyanogen
Note: When installing the roms, I've wiped the data cache and the davlik cache. I haven't done a full factory reset.
Any suggestions?
thanks

For about 2 months I've been using AOKP and I wanted to go back to the BAMF rom for funsies. After I installed the rom and gapps I signed into my account and everything like normal after rebooting but none of my apps are installing. They're all there in the play store under "all" when I go to my installed apps. I was hoping someone knows why it's doing it and how to fix it
Wipe and reflash.
did you wipe all your cache?
Hi everybody,
So I recently (today) decided to root my Xperia Ion. After I rooted it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460) I installed CWM using the most recent version of RecoverX. After that, I installed Xperia NeXuS Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260800). I followed all the steps, "2. Go to CWM, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, advanced---> wipe dalvik cache, mounts & storage-----> format /system. (useless if you came from custom/stock)"
Everything went fine, phone booted up and everything. Heres the problem:
-My text messaging app as well as my contacts, and phone app disappeared. As in I can't find them anywhere on the phone. I've downloaded Mighty Text from the Play Store so I know my messaging works but I can't find the app to access my messages. As well, when I use someone else's phone to call my phone it works; I can answer the call and talk.
-When I go back to CWM to try and restore back to stock it says "No files found." :crying:
So in short:
-Rooted phone, Installed CWM
-Installed Xperia NeXuS, followed all the steps; booted up fine, reboots etc.
-Can't seem to find Messaging, Calling, Contacts App anywhere on the phone.
More info:
-Xperia Ion
-Stock was ICS 4.0.4
-Phones from Rogers LTE
-Sim Unlocked
Thanks for reading and any help you guys can provide
Ill try to respond asap to your guy's help!
Do you backup your ROM before flashing this ROM?
And of course factory reset will erase all the data.
Sent from my Asus Google Nexus 7 using XDA Premium
Factory reset WILL format your data, including apps, settings, SMS, etc.
If you haven't backup anything, then you can't restore anything.
Set up your phone manually.
Yea I did backup before I installed the new ROM. I managed to fix the problem. Thanks for your input!
Default android calendar stops responding and will not load, and any apps that attempt to use the default calendar info from system cause the same prompt to occur.
Any one know a fix for this, or can post the most recent android calendar.apk for our tmo sgs4?
No problems with Calendar app here. First try wiping data for Calendar in Application Manger. If that don't work try wiping cache and dalvik cache in recovery.

Correction, had to reflash my v5 rom to have calendar access, still cant get it in v8. Cant post in dev forum yet unfortunately.
Wiping data/cache/dalvik, should i factory reset and then go over and wipe everything before trying again?
Whenever I try to open my recent apps menu I get the message "Unfortunately, System UI crashed". I rebooted my tab, Wiped cache and dalvik cache, performed factory reset, Restored my stock Rom and tried installing other roms but nothing worked. I would be grateful if someone could help me.

Hello,
on my girlfriends S4 Mini all apps force close imidiately. She said it started one morning and didn't stop since then. I tried flashing a new nightly and fresh gapps, format cache/dalvik but it didn't help. I just could installeverything again but She needs backups of some apps (data) and sms. Unfortunately, Titanium Backup is not working either.
Does anyone know a way to fix the force close or how to backup appdata / sms without using apps?

Hi there. Just solved a similar problem with one of my friend. I wiped data+cache+davik or say factory reset, from custom recovery and problem solved. But cant say about the backup thing.

I have solved the problem now:
-Made a Nandroid backup
-Wiped dalvik, cache, data, system
-Clean install
-Used Titanium Backup (Menu/Extract from Nandroid Backup) to restore sms and appdata (had to install the apps out of playstore first, then restore only data, not the app)
-Works.
