Hi everybody,
So I recently (today) decided to root my Xperia Ion. After I rooted it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460) I installed CWM using the most recent version of RecoverX. After that, I installed Xperia NeXuS Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260800). I followed all the steps, "2. Go to CWM, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, advanced---> wipe dalvik cache, mounts & storage-----> format /system. (useless if you came from custom/stock)"
Everything went fine, phone booted up and everything. Heres the problem:
-My text messaging app as well as my contacts, and phone app disappeared. As in I can't find them anywhere on the phone. I've downloaded Mighty Text from the Play Store so I know my messaging works but I can't find the app to access my messages. As well, when I use someone else's phone to call my phone it works; I can answer the call and talk.
-When I go back to CWM to try and restore back to stock it says "No files found." :crying:
So in short:
-Rooted phone, Installed CWM
-Installed Xperia NeXuS, followed all the steps; booted up fine, reboots etc.
-Can't seem to find Messaging, Calling, Contacts App anywhere on the phone.
More info:
-Xperia Ion
-Stock was ICS 4.0.4
-Phones from Rogers LTE
-Sim Unlocked
Thanks for reading and any help you guys can provide
Ill try to respond asap to your guy's help!
Do you backup your ROM before flashing this ROM?
And of course factory reset will erase all the data.
Sent from my Asus Google Nexus 7 using XDA Premium
Factory reset WILL format your data, including apps, settings, SMS, etc.
If you haven't backup anything, then you can't restore anything.
Set up your phone manually.
Yea I did backup before I installed the new ROM. I managed to fix the problem. Thanks for your input!

hi,
just installed the rom. but now i got problems with contacts. the contact app won't
load the contacts. and if i try another contact app it just crashes. any ideas why?
thx...
were you coming from a different ROM? did you do a full wipe?
I've got the same problem. I can see all the contacts from "call" menu, but when I want to enter details the app crashes. Whn I simply open contacts app, loading circle appears and nothing happens, sometimes also crashes after few mins of "loading".
Had the exact same problem weeks ago on InsertCoinHD 2.0.0, got used to it but it's kinda annoying. Both times I did full wipe of everything, however I restored contacts data using Titanium (from stock rom).
Tried to fix permissions too...
Used to get this too. Found out I hadn't done a proper full wipe. Now, after nandroid b/u, my procedure goes:
- Wipe data/factory reset
Then in mounts/storage
- format sys
- format data
- format cache
- format SD-Ext
Then advanced
- wipe Dalvic
Flash ROM.
I came from a LeeDroid ROM and until I tried this, I got the same problem with contacts every time. It drove me nuts! All good now!

came from original ruu (or how u call it )...before installing, i did a full wipe..but maybe i try the method of 777ace...
tell u guys later, if it works...
well, i did following things..
i did a fullwipe, then, wipe-dalvic and after it flash rom again..and now it works
perfect
btw: i'm using amon-ra for hboot..great piece of work..it also has a option to
format your sdcard with ext2,3,4 and so on..
Sorry to hijack this thread but I am using this rom and have a problem with text messages disappearing. When I receive a text, read it and then go back in to messages the inbox is empty. The option to delete old messages in settings is unchecked.
Any ideas?
Cheers

I normally wipe data, cache and dalvik, then install ROM and restore settings using Titaniuim - always the same problem. I'm starting to think that it might be related to my contacts data, did you have that problem even without restoring your contacts on a clear ROM install? Or, as you managed to fix it, can you restore your contacts without problems or you just sync them using Google account?

Try backing up your contacts/data with "mybackup root". Heard of a lot of problems with Titanium.
I have all my contacts saved on the google account (nothing on the phone itsels) and never had any issues like you're describing with viewing/editing contacts.
so the idea woud be... back-up -> wipe all + dalvik ->reflash ROM -> restore
I've flashed my phone with the latest Cyanogen mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957344)
I flashed the radio, then the ROM and in the end the latest Gapps... But now several things don't work. Facebook can't start and when I try to set a new ringtone, it gives me the 'process media stopped working'. Any idea how to fix this?
Ow. It also happens when I try to visit Facebook and when I try to create a ringtone via Zedge.
Nobody with tips or hints what I did wrong?
Did you wipe everything before flashing it? Data, cache, system, battery stats...
Did you restore any system data e.g. via Titanium Backup?
Have you got a nandroid backup of where you were before?
1. Yes I wiped everything.
2. I did both. First I restored with Titanium Backup. Then I tried without a restore. STill the same problem.
3. before this I used a MIUI ROM but I didn't like it.
i ran a titanium backup on my motorola defy whilst running CM7 2.3.7.
the backup was a user apps, systems apps and user data (for those firmiliar with titanium backup)
i then booted into recovery.
> wiped data/factory reset,
> install zip file from sd card
> chose and then flashed WajkIUI 1.10.8
it then booted up and then i then put the phone back into recovery mode and then flashed the google apps 2.3.5 package and that was too successful.
i then booted the phone up and once again it booted up fine.
i then installed titanium backup from the market, then restored all that i'd backed up previously. This once again was successful. I then continued my using my phone as usual. Then i thought too reboot because i was having problems with the theme manager allowing me to change lockscreens, so i rebooted.
It then went into a continuos boot loop and it allows me to go into CWM still and the stock android recovery whilst also allowing me to go into the stock Bootloader.
but i really like the rom but this constant loop annoys me,
how can i fix this without loosing data?...
I think the problem was restoring system apps from a rom to anoter, think you'll have to install your rom again and only restore apps (not sure if restoring data would or not be a problem)
oh, so you suggest i just do a user apps+data back up instead of doing a system backup using CM7,
okay i'll try this out and get back to you thanks .
Sent from my MB525 running CM7.1 2.3.7
wait, but wouldnt i lose all my contacts, text messages, email syncs, wifi settings etc.?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
no, this stuff you mentioned is user data, that will come along on a data restore, just try to restore only apps and data, leave system apps off.
WajkIUI doesn't require gapps to be flashed from recovery, so you can skip this step next time, maybe that was the problem (i am not sure, never flashed gapps for WajkIUI)
oh, okay i'll try this method then i'll get back with the results

Hi
I just flashed my first ROM on my GS3. I went from the LH1 stock OTA from Samsung, rooted, installed CWM, and then flashed AOKP(Jellybean) Task & Ktoonsez - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684 - many thanks to them btw for some amazing work.
Anyway once I flashed the ROM and GAAPS and my device booted up, all my data was still there... my photos, my apps reloaded, even the data inside the apps was still there, which I cannot understand how. Don't get me wrong I am happy that everything was still there. Also, I did make a backup from CWM but I did not restore it because I did not need to (since all the data loaded on its own).
My question is: was this feature built into this ROM or is this something that is normally supposed to happen.
If you didn't factory reset (wipe data/cache) before flashing AOKP, then yes, all your apps will still be there. That's not recommended though because lingering system settings from the stock ROM could mess with things.
And factory reset doesn't erase your internal storage or SD card, it just wipes apps and settings, so your photos and stuff will be there regardless.

Thanks for the reply. I did definitely did factory reset in CWM as I followed all instructions to the T. I am not sure why but all of my apps remained, I saw some of them auto download rather quickly and for example I have this app called Vaulty. All of its contents were still inside.
Odd nonetheless
hello everyone. i'm having a problem my phone is running extra slow. i'm rooted on stock, dealing with the official crap 4.3 fw. i tried to factory reset my phone. i wiped the data, cache, dalvik and fixed permissions. after the factory reset super user, internal files and teamwin recovery is still on my phone. once i start installing any apps the phones starts to run like the first gen android. i need help. i would like a complete full wipe that will revery everything completely back to stock.
i've already searched before making this post. i didn't see anything any results that had problems of these files staying on phone.
Odin back to stock. You will need the 4.3 tar.
Or go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47812894
Make sure you format data and system. Factory reset only wipes data, txt, contacts, apps but not system apps like superuser.

thanks for the info. i fixed my problem before having the chance to see you reply. i guess that is the only way to do it on 4.3 while on 4.12 that's all i did to get back to stock it wiped everything including super user. i will bookmark this info for future issues with this crap fw. thanks again for the info.
