[Q] Using Odin To upgrade to ICS Stock - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S2 T989
Android: 2.3.5
I'm using Odin to upgrade from Stock Gingerbread to Stock ICS. I'm doing this because my phone isn't recognized by my computer unless it's in download mode. The problem I'm having is that Odin gets half way through the process hangs and then fails to complete. Anyway to get ICS and make Odin complete the process?
Thanks
EDIT: I disconnected the phone and rebooted to view an error message that said to restore is in Kies. Since Kies couldn't detect the device I used Odin twice to flash ICS which worked on the second try.

Root and flash

[Q] ODIN back to stock now.. nothing

I was following the forum below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321811
to get my rooted stock Tmobile Galaxy S2 back to un-rooted stock so i could update to the OTA update as i need the wifi.
Upon following the first ODIN command i got a failed and so i unpluged the phone and tried to re-ODIN and all it would do is stay at connecing or something similar.
I pulled the battery and tried to enter download mode again and I am unable to turn the phone on or enter download mode.
Ideas?
when i change the usb cable to a different plug on PC the PC then will attempt to install driver but the phone never show the download screen and the PC says unalbe to install driver.
Does it try to install the Samsung drivers or qualcom modem drivers?

returning to stock issues

hi again i used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513359 and now i get an error complete(write) operation failure and now i get a error on my phone "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Keis won't reconize the phone. What can i do to fix this.
As far as I know, you don't use kies to return your phone to stock (flash stock rom), you use ODIN. Get the stock ROM for your phone, and use ODIN (download mode) to flash it.
If you have a back up made with CWM, you can just restore that back up using CWM recovery. I'd do a wipe also, permission fix just to keep everything clean.
Well it won't let me get to the cwm, clockworkmod right, all it does is go to that screen where it says to use keis.

Aha finally. After about 25 times of getting the same message at about 1/4 of the way back to stock if finally did it. Did the darkside wipe and flashed it again just to make sure. Couldn't update it to 4.0.3 via keis but i did find a stock 4.0.3 on this forum. rooted it and flashed infamous 2.8 working fine now.

[Q] Unable to update (Bell)

So it seems I've gotten myself stuck in a loop.
I have CWM, and a stock rom w/ Root. I haven't even uninstalled the bloatware, I only wanted it to pair to a PS3 controller via bluetooth.
It seems that on Saturday night, my USB micro port stopped working on the phone. There was a point it wouldn't even charge, but I got that working. I'm not sure if it's lint in the port or what, but my attempts to clean it have failed.
Because of this, I'm unable to use odin or kies to flash the phone, and the OTA update keeps failing with CWM installed. My question is, is there a way to flash the stock bootloader using the terminal (much like how I installed CWM, using recovery.img), so I can then install the OTA update, or another stock update, and possibly take my phone in for warranty? I don't even care about rooting it again.
The counter is at 0 BTW.
So I can't use the OTA update, because of CWM, but I can't remove CWM because the USB port is toast, but I can't get it warrantied because it's rooted w/ CWM. This is on a blue 32GB Bell phone.
Thanks,
LDS

He can download the update on his phone and extract it with Root Explorer or something else. And I'm assuming that you know what is Mobile ODIN.

I googled mobile ODIN - It's ODIN on the phone. I can upload the update using an FTP app, so I'm going to give it a try. Which frankly, is better than anything I've come up with.

You're my hero. This worked. It flashed away CWM, and I managed to get JB. I forgot to uncheck maintain root, but since I have the stock JB now, I could really care less at this point about my USB (as long as it continues to charge)

Note 8.0 3G bricked

A friend of mine tried rooting his device using the all in one toolkit for Note 8.0 with 3G and now his device just boots to a black screen and doesn't power on properly.
Is there any way to fix this? Sorry for asking this, but I don't know much about samsung devices.
Hold Power button and Volume down to boot into download mode then use ODIN to flash the original firmware again.
Same thing happened to me. I did end up flashing stock with odin.
However I'm pretty sure you could also odin a recovery and flash a rom.

If they don't have a backup, they can use Kies to restore the latest version from Samsung. Use the steps above to get into download mode. They will need the model number (on the back of the tablet) and their serial number.
You can flash stock kernel via odin only to save your data
