I am a new SGS3 owner coming from the OG Evo and I've never really ran into a problem like this. My phone will not go into Landscape/On its side at all. I tried everything I know of and I'm stuck. I pulled down the notification bar and switch the toggle, went into settings and display and unchecked auto-rotate, wiped both caches, fixed permissions, formatted the entire phone (internal, external, sd-ext). I'm absolutely stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My stock launcher would never rotate, but apps would. I installed nova prime launcher and it auto rotates like normal.

Do I hard reset with Odin and the Lg8 tar file. Need a link let me know but search YouTube qbking"unroot Samsung gs3"

Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate
I was going to say return it because it's covered by the Samsung warranty which will cover any hardware issues which you are having. Play temple run and see if your tilt will work. But unfortunately you rooted your phone therefore breaking warranty

I was actually just about to Odin back to stock, and now the rotation works. It did drop on the floor, not far at all, before I turned it on. So it has to be a hardware problem. But hey, it works now! Lol

Was wondering if anyone had the same problem as me/a solution..
My T-Mobile S2 randomly reboots itself once a day at least when left idle. Not rooted. Bone stock rom, about 33 user apps installed that never gave me problems on my other phones (Nexus One, HD2)
I read something about SD cards causing the issue, so I formatted mine from the phone and threw it back in, still happening.
I can give a list of my apps if it would help, other than that I did notice one other thing.. I use the google news & weather widget that came with the phone, and I set it not to auto refresh. After it reboots, and I don't have background data on, the widget doesn't load (this is how I know it's actually rebooting if I wake up to it) so maybe it's related to that somehow?
Any input is appreciated.
I have the same issue after I rooted my phone and I install the Juggernaut 2.5

Sometimes my phone has gotten wonky on time usually as a result of battery swaps. happened even prior to my rooting.
All i needed to do was toggle off/on the Auto time set feature and it resets as it should.
All most over slept one morning because I for got to check the time after a battery swap prior to going to bed. Phone is my main alarm clock.
Just go to settings then under system go to date and time and then set the time yourself.

Samsung has introduced a qualcomm time service that might be responsible for weird time behavior. I know on my phone it can be off by up to two minutes, so what I did was disable this from running. If you're rooted, you can either disable it in titanium/application settings/adb OR just remove the application from /system/app/TimeService.apk

This may sound wired but it's true, when I rotate my phone to play any games or anything else the screen always rotates the opposite way it was turned so that my screen is always upside down unless in portrait mode and is quite annoying.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Did you flash a custom kernel not made for your phone (Verizon,T-Mobile,etc)? This is the only time I have heard of this problem.

You got it from Original Developement-Zeus kernal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207191, cause I also downloaded it and had the same video problem. I believe the kernel was ported from Verizon's GS3.

Sounds like your image is offset in some way. What have you tried to resolve it so far? Reboot? Wipe cache?

Rebooted, of course. Wiped cache. But that's about all you can do. I thought there was a calibration process in Settings but, if there is, it eludes me. I can't even get the S-pen to calibrate. I suppose I could do a factory reset and start from scratch but its not worth the aggravation.

OK, that's more than just me with this problem. How about it, smart folks? Any ideas? Best I got was do a factory reset and hope for the best. Really don't want to have to re-setup my toy again.
I too hope for someone more clever than me to figure out a workaround. Until then, Firefox for Android looks and performs wonderfully on this tablet - in portrait or otherwise. Check it out!

Actually, I haven't been able to recreate this problem since I posted this. I'm wondering if it was caused by the cover I used to use which had a very strong magnet. I'm now using the Samsung light cover.
If I see it again I will post it, but so far so good, knock on wood.

I have a nonmagnetic cover so that's out. Too bad for me! Still with me.
Got another update Monday - not sure what it did but it was there - and it seemed to fix the issue for awhile. Now it's back the way it was. Oh well.
Gave up and went to Opera. Fixed all the problems so the issue was Chrome not working right.
Hey folks. I've mostly been a lurker around here for a number of years and never posted but I've recently encountered a problem I can't seem to fix on my own. Here's some basic info.
Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919)
Stock ROM (rooted)
Android 4.2.2
BB Version M919UVUAMDL
Kernel Version 3.4.0_562219
Recovery Clockwork Mod Touch
The problem I'm having is that I have to leave my phone with auto rotation off. If I turn it on, landscape and portrait rotations are 180 degrees off, flipped, upside down, etc etc. I've been searching high and low for some way to fix this and no dice! Please let me know what I can do. I have tried accelerometer recalibration and a few apps but I just can't get it to work right.I would like to avoid a re-wipe. I finally have everything just right. Wipes irritate the heck out of me because I guess Clockwork Recovery can't access backups on the external SD card? Ugh.
Problem: flipped screen, camera up side down, camera flipped, screen 180, screen upside down. Reverse portrait, reverse landscape.
Fix: Had bad kernel. Flashed to a newer ktoonz kernel and it fixed the problem.
BTW: I just realized that my camera is also in fact flipped 180. Sheesh. This is a royal pain.

Are you perhaps using a kernel not meant for tmobile? I ported roms for the galaxy s 3 and they always did that unless you used a kernel meant for your devicce.

Im not sure what lernel that is im sorry.just got my s4. But anyhow is it a custom kernel that you flashed? If so make sure you got it from a tmobile thread. Or if you would rather it maybe easier to flash a tmobile kernel such as ktoonz and see if that fixes the issue.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Just figured out its a custom ktoonz kernel. Replaced it with old stock kernel with suid removed and problem seems fixed by my sd card went south when I did. Cant mount it. Copying files off it now.

Can any1 please link me the most recent stock kernel? Having trouble finding it.

I am seeing the reversed auto rotation on my wife's GS4(SPH-L720) and it is stock unrooted. She has made no changes to anything! Camera and menu's are upside down. Web pages are upside down. She needs to keep auto-rotation off, just to use it! Others online with the same problem have been doing factory resets with no luck. One person did 3 or 4 factory resets and still has the same problem. My rooted GS4 is ok (so far) but hers (not rooted) is driving her nuts. She will never root hers (and would be angry with me if she knew mine was rooted). Any help at all would be appreciated.

If it is stock and unroofed the only explanation would be hardware IMO..... There isn't another explanation especially if a factory reset doesn't help it.

Reset factory do not solve trouble.
Is there any one find an issue ?
Thx for help
I have the same problem. I flashed official firmware and is not solved, I'm on CM13 right now, will try to flash a custom kernel. I have problems with proximity, accelerometer, temperature and light sensors too.
