Build.prop tweaks - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16833651&postcount=1
i found this post where a user wrote all the tweaks that work generally in every phone&rom.
I dont know any of them and i dont even know if there are already better tweaks in most arc's rom that could lose quality with some of these, so who is able to tell if any of these(also with the rom he is using so we could know where to use or not use theme) are helpful so i could put some in any rom im using?

I checked the thread you posted and the scripts/tweaks seem good to me, ROMS have a changelog which tells you what has been included/removed/fixed in the ROM, so that should give you some idea of what the tweaks are.

yes i checked on my own the build.prop of the rom im using now and it hve only the NetTweak, but i dont know if all othr tweaks are better in someway so if i put one of this could make them worst.
Im on jellysawndwich 4.4 now

[REQUEST] AOSP lockscreen & extended power menu

Im verry sorry if i posted this in the wrong section or if the answer is allready under my nose, but i tried all other solutions and available versions without any
luck, and i bricked my phone 8 times today wich forced me to re-flash..
This subject is getting discussed in multiple sections and scattered over multiple threads, so again i apoligise if i posted in the wrong section..
The problem is this..
I updated my firmware today officially with KIES to XWJPA..
PDA: I9000XWJPA
PHONE:I9000XXJPP
CSC:I9000XENJP2
Now i really want to keep this original ROM installed, and i want the stock
AOSP lockscreen and extended power menu back i had in my previous custom rom..
All versions i tried on this forum make my phone not boot anymore past the
galaxy s logo..
Now i also found a version inside the "DOC" custom rom thread, but its "deodexed" and thus useless to me..
All i really want is the lockscreen and extended menu for my original rom, could anybody provide this for me??
thx in advance,
ronald
stock lockscreen is here and it's definitly working: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784992

Darkyy's v 4.0 JPO rom has an extended power menu.
Thats what i ment..doesnt matter how many times i try it(5 times so far)...it simple bricks my phone! Wont boot past the "galaxy s" bootup screen!! Read the replys...im not the only one! Lots of ppl complaining about a bricked phone, this one simple doesnt work, and i am a windows programmer, so dont take me for a noob experimenting, sorry...
Please please provide a working version..stock lockscreen and extended power menu is enough..
The best,
Ronald

As far as i understand the situation at this point, the old "leaked" XWJPA doesnt seem to be the same as the officially realeased "XWJPA"..as i said im a windows programmer and reverser, i have never even looked at linux or java from that point of vieuw...this is all new to me..
All i know, and read that thread FULLY..it doesnt work, tried it 8 times, and needed to flash my phone 8 times after that, i didnt do anything wrong, and if you read the post, lots of other ppl have the eact same problem!
Im seriously concidering flashing a custom deodexed rom, simple because it makes my modding life easyer...yes, i did see the post explaining how to create your own custom lockscreen, including a nice script taking lots of work off your hands...but its still lots of work for somebody who never interested himself in linux, java or mobile platforms..i simple dont have the time to put a few hours into this!
Oh well, still hoping somebody else with experiance in the field can help me out and provide me with a nice `update.zip` for example...
the best,
Ronald
[edit]
PS: Stop refering to other posts stating that they have a working version, after 48 hours of trial and error, i can say with sertainty that
there is no version on this forum wich works ATM! or its "deodexed" and since i got a NON-moded version of the firmware...it doesnt work....OR somebody should tell me how to extract the files from that version...i could replace them with the originals with "root explorer" or something, then that should/could also work
[edit2]
Seriously...help me..i really want this fast, id do it on my own if i hd the time, a few hours would be enough..but i got a girlfriend living with me and stuff, has some problems..i simple dont have the time because of rl-drama...id really appreciate it
+1
You're not the only one.
It doesn't work for me ether with JPA.
I hate the original SGS lockscreen but there is nothing else to do than wait.
And I don't want to use any Rom, I put together my own Rom and it has always worked great, the only thing missing now is the AOSP Lockscreen.

[13 Mar 2012] Stock MIUI (Very Stable) [cLK/MAG]

Stock MIUI (Very Very Stable)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This rom is modified from MIUI android to work with clk bootloader. Please give MIUI Android all the credit.
Converted from the latest MIUI available 2.3.9
The goal of this thread is for two things. I have one main goal, STABLILITY. I will keep all roms I create. Their currently are two versions.
-Stock- I will keep up to date with MIUI and release CLK versions to accompy their magldr versions. The stock rom will stay stock, that means no changes!
-Tweaked- The tweaked rom will offer things more towards my preferance, or possibly by request. Currently the only difference between Stock and Tweaked is in the tweaked version MIUI launcher has been removed and replaced with Go Launcher. If you would like to see something included in this rom, please post.
(tweaked version is currently discontinued)
Features of Stock MIUI
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-A2SD
-Rooted
-Android 2.3.7
-Deodexed

MIUI has many neat features.
1. Long press on the toggle switch will take you to that options settings.
2. Secrecy mode disables text, and call logs to let someone look at your phone.
3. Holding the home key on the lock screen activates the flash light.
New MiUi means wat d features?

thanks for this one, works nicely.
will stick with it for now..
Just a head's up - for those of you who like as much internal space for apps as possible, a 150/5 partition is more than sufficient to run this ROM, considering the extracted /system size is about 137MB.
I used that size, worked fine for me.

No worries bud, we all have to start somewhere.
A good measure of what partition size you need is by checking the extracted size of all the files going into the /system partition in your ROM zip (usually just the "system" folder in a ROM zip file, but could include other directories, depending on how the ROM installs), and then rounding up to the nearest multiple of 10.
In other words, if I built a ROM, and saw the extracted "system" directory (and/or any other directory being extracted to /system) in the ROM works out to be around 173MB, I'd recommend using a 180MB partition for /system.
Keep up the good work, really useful to have a CLK version of MIUI.
MrP.

What exactly are you asking? Are you wanting to know what apps are included or are you wanting to download the apps to another rom?
I can extract the apps, but I can't guarantee they will work on anything but this system.

I don't quite get what you're looking for, please explain it a bit further.
If you're asking where to find the standard MIUI apps to add to this ROM, then you must have missed in the OP that no changes have been made, and hence all the standard included apps are in this ROM already.
Alternatively, if you want all the basic MIUI apps for something else, why not just download the ROM, and extract those you want from the ROM zip?
Sorry if I don't quite get what you meant.
MrP.
EDIT: kylew1212 beat me to it.
This rom was for personal use. But I use this rom, with a little tweaking. I use go launcher so that my home screen isn't cluttered. Would anyone be interested in a miui version with a little tweaking? I will keep the stock one but I may build a tweaked version. Let me know if interested.

Firstly, thanks, i'd like to have it untweaked. Stock is Stock. Ya we al may do without that Xiaomi account
color branding
I have a question for you all, hoping I can solve this, finally...after months.
I am using MIUI for months now, with Tytungs r14 kernel. (also tried Dorimanx kernel, but that one has the same issue)
This solves the majority of the color branding issues, but you will get a 'full' fix upon changing the MIUI launcher settings to 'hi-res', which massively destroys the smoothness of the scrolling.
MIUI themselves say it can't happen, though I still have this g**damn color branding issue, when not using hi-res scrolling. There has to be something in that launcher (with other launchers like adw, go launcher, launcherpro, this can be simply fixed by completely disabling the scrolling cache in those settings) to fix this.
Does anybody know how to do this with the MIUI launcher? I love MIUI, but I want something that looks 100%, and i can't live with the color branding stuff (as it also shows in the wallpapers).

This is a completely stock rom. The reason I say it was made for my personal use is because I prefer Clk over Magldr. MIUI only publishes a Magldr version. I converted this Magldr version (for my myself) to clk. I changed nothing else. It is completely stock except now it works on two bootloaders instead of one. I uploaded the original(magldr) and my own(clk).

Honestly I'm not sure what color branding issures are.. Is that like lines going through the screen at random times?
Also have you tried newer versions of MIUI? Possibly they fixed this unknowingly? Sorry I'm not very much help on this at the moment..

What ROM for my needs?

Hello,
I have had my note 2 for some while now and I still love how it works. But seeing all the different mods and requiring to get some sort of radio and rom in combination with another extension. I haven't been able to understand how and what to do. So choosing for the easy way out: A rom with the mods I seek build in!
I am looking for a rom that is stock or as close to stock (minus bloatware, i can remove these myself if neccesary), some 5x6 mod for touchwiz (4x5 is a waste of space imo), sd and internal card flipped (using a 64gb sd card its madness to get the icon telling me my memory is gettin full) and the multiwindow mod.
Does anyone know of a rom that is close to what I seek? Please let me know, i've been reading changelogs of so many different roms that its reminding me of my college years.
Thanks
Do a nandroid backup and flash the one that looks closed to what you think you need. Omega rom is very popular, it allows you to choose what is included in the installation when you run it. There are a few other roms which do the same.

Well to be perfectly honest i nearly flashed them all and i have the greatest respect for the devs for building theses great roms and kernels, but the stock rom and kernel gives you the best performance, stability and batterylife
You can however root the phone for some goodies like: addblocking, sdcard tweaks, saving user apps and data, removing bloatware etc etc.

Fast and stable ROM

I know that such threads aren't welcomed, but friend of mine just brought me stock 2.3.6 Galaxy W whining that it's so slow. always row back to stock after tried out those new roms.

yes, is my personal choice after all i did tried out all those custom roms n still row back to stock rom.
tried 4.4.2, no 3G, no over-the air radio, does not wait up when i plugin my headset, very hot when play games......etc,etc,
back to stock rom with some tweaks, faster n cool (never hot up), run with no bugs, never once fc (force close).

Thats just what i would say about my phone, too Stable, fast, ui that doesn't hurt my eyes badly (That's really important to me!), not noticed any f/c or (random) reboots yet, temperature is good during use. Of course mobile network works. I feel happy using it
To be fair i have to add that DarkCM 03/19 was first release without issues noticeable for me. All other versions had AT LEAST one bug: ProCapture camera didn't work as it should. May be i find issues while using it. we'll see
I used OneOfAKind Rom now, pretty stable but some apps are just slow and eat a lot of ram. I blamed the apps, not the ROM. You should try it.
I know Stock is great but I upgraded mine because some apps doesn't work on Gingerbread.

i'm using this bottom portion, becoz the last entries will be log-in, replacing the first entries.
another concern is the read ahead for the rams/cards, it seem to speed up but when i tried use clockworkmod backup, the md5 is mismatched. backup is useless, if u have this problem, remove those read ahead sentences.

those power n ram hungry games, i dun recommend play games with installation file above 100mb (hw limitations).
candy crush sage is quite power n ram hungry even its installation file is below 100mb, it runs without problem.
edit:
i played magic mania for more than an hour on GB, generated less heat than when i played candy crush saga on KitKat for less than 10 mins. :silly:
I'm looking at flashing my W too. It has GB still, but I modded it by CWM recovery, root and debrand plus stripped out un-needed bloat. What I want to do with it is flash it to possibly JB and run VIPERaudioFX and either Poweramp or Neutron audio player and mostly keep it as a smart music player for my car. I run a modded quad core phone as my main device now because it is a great multitasker and has a big screen for my failing eyes. The W is a nice, small size for a music front end though. So pocketable or fits nice in the centre console. I still have a thing about that phone despite it being old now. So, a modern and light OS is needed. Must be stable but it's not going to be a main phone. What are the recommendations?
If it's not practical, I will keep GB on it and see if I can slim it down further and if I can get a version of Viper that will work with it.
in general, i recommend stick with GB becoz its less buggy than the new android OS (ics/jb/kk).
if the app(s) cant run on GB, its becoz the app(s) need more RAM (hw limitations).
new OS have swap n zRAM which makes it laggy (in one way or the other).
I found it laggy on GB anyway. Removing Touchwiz and various Sammy apps after installing Legacy Launcher improved things. Also Smart Launcher2 Pro is nice. I'm actually running that one on my W200.
I was thinking getting rid of the Samsung account and extra software plus Keis etc would help things. strip out as much as possible without breaking it, do CWM backups before any major change, just in case.
I do know what you mean by the RAM, despite newer ROMs running well, they do need a lot of RAM. Minimal widgets, only the Gmail account etc will help.
I'll have a play with it. Mine is an i8150T, not an i8150, the Australian Vodafone version. Does the phone support 900MHz 3G in hardware? It's not accessible on my Vodafone ROM as they run 850MHz 3G. Maybe I could use a ROM meant for a different country. I did that with my Garmin Asus Nuvifone a50. Installed a Canadian ROM and got it working on 850 instead of the 900 it was supposed to be on as it was an Optus phone originally.

luv to share but .......many (cyberbullies) here didnt want it, want latest fads.
GB is old n past just like XP (eol), which to me is the best OS.
use at ur own risk.
requirements:
basic knowledge
unroot phone
init.d support
(if unsure wat to do, search n u will get ur answers).
i only use these two on stock rom, no other enhancements or tweaks.
attached r two files zipped:
1) build.prop.GB.Addon - copy all texts n paste to end of line build.prop, if u have duplicate, just remove the sentences.
(mount read/write b4 edit if u cant edit).
2) VMscript140309 file is a script, u can use script manager if u want but i preferred to copy n paste to etc/init.d.
remember must set permission, chmod rwx,r_x,r_x n chown root, shell, else it wont work.
(mount read/write b4 paste if u cant paste).

[Q]S4 Mini LTE After Root Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Not Working

Hi Guys, I thought I would make a thread here as i can not seem to be able to find a solution. Rooted my device obviously, everything is fine until I installed a "Kernel" (cant remember author) to overclock mainly then encountered several problems. 1: Wi-Fi has become unstable. It seems to either crash my phone or signal disappears after my phone is on standby for a period of time (variable). 2: My Bluetooth just does not work. At all!! I have not done anything more to my device so the solution (hopefully). I forgot to mention that it is STOCK ROM. I do not wish to wipe my phone clean, i want to find a fix. Possibly a more stable kernel. Overclocking does not want to happen either but the "Governor's, I/O Scheduler's and Underclocking" do work. If there is anything more you guys need to know please ask!!
Looking forward to ideas

It not the root that causing the issue, it the kernel that tried. If I remember correctly there's only two kernel for the S4 mini that allows overclcoking, and one of them has stopped developerment since last year. That leaves the F4k kernel.
He has two different kernels: one for the AOSP/CM (custom) ROM another is also a bit outdated for the default Samsung TouchWiz ROM. Are you sure you've download the correct kernel?

Well to my knowledge I had used the correct kernel....... I never used one from here but I did find a website claiming that F4k has a stock over clocking kernel...... Unfortunately for the life of me I can not find this website. I've managed to overclock with success using a apk. I found on here (performance control) brilliant tool!! Is there any chance you able to post a link to this stock kernel you talk about so I can test myself and report back? Everything else is working without a problem apart from Wi-Fi and bluetooth.

So I've come to a conclusion after many weeks of testing and searching........ Unfortunately the overclock kernel for "TouchWiz" roms is unstable........ looking through forums I can see that F4k has only realised a "test" version....... on the other hand I have found a kernel from Vikinger (if spelt correctly) that's has fixed my issue and is working great... shame it isn't overclocked nor under and has no additional governors..... any one with ideas please feel free to share..... many thanks.
