Custom kernel with OEM ICS - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Can I use a custom kernel with stock ICS? I would like to take advantage of BLN for my buttons to light up, and if so, which would be the best kernel to use?
Thanks

stock ICS 4.0.4 or 4.0.3? There aren't any kernels up for 4.0.4 I believe...

[Q] Pure 4.0.3 ROM

Hi Guys,
Had my Gnex for a month or so now, but only just unlocked it and rooted.
I'm interested in putting a 4.0.3 Rom on but concerned about the camera issues etc
Has anyone built a stock 4.0.3 rom without any fancy enhancements etc? I've had a look but they all seem to have Trebuchet launcher, new lock enhancements, led coulour changers etc.
I'm looking for a rom that's as stock as possible but running 4.0.3
Thanks
Paul

what camera issues?
4.0.3 is not stock, it's AOSP...
4.0.2 is official stock for GSM..closest to stock you can find is ARHD 2.1.5

A lot of people in the Rom threads mention that the fast shutter no longer works in those roms - even with different Kernels etc.
I know 4.0.3 isn't stock - i asked if there was a 4.0.3 rom that's 'like' a stock rom.
ARHD is a 4.0.2 rom.....

ZSL or Fast Shutter is Google proprietary code, that's why you don't find it in AOSP
besides, proper behavior is seen in 4.0.3, not 4.0.1/2 where pictures were taken fast but out of focus.
Try the 4.0.4 GAPPS package, the camera re-introduces long-press to focus/shoot.
or try SlimICS

CIFS-enabled kernel for 4.0.4 stock ROM?

Does anyone know of a kernel that works with the stock rom?

[Q] Forgot to flash the kernel before installing ICS beta rom with xperia arc

Hi all,
My phone is rooted and has an unlocked bootloader, but I tried to install this rom today:
MooDeD ICS ROM v.4.0 / xUltimate v7.0 Engine [ROM]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717
But I forgot to flash the new boot.img (new kernel), wich I had to install using flashtool. Now I can't normally boot my Arc (I can understand why), but I also can't get into CWM recovery! So do I know have to flash the new kernel wich I had to do before.. or can I get Android 2.3.4 somehow back on my Arc? And if I flash the new kernel for ICS can I flash it back to the kernel for Gingerbread afterwarts? The new kernel is based on ICS beta btw.
I hope you can help me
Everything is working very well since I flashed the ICS kernel I am now running Mooded ICS rom v30.5 without any problems (few bugs in the rom, but overcomable)

I figured that flashing ICS kernel and install the rom again worked when I had flashed the kernel I could get back into recovery again Thanks for your reply
does the DoomLord Kernel work on a ICS rom? Or does it has to be the ICS kernell by DoomLord?! on other words on ICS Roms the kernel has also to be based on ICS?
That's correct as far as I know has to be ics

I don't recommend doomlord because it's a bit buggy, but there are plenty of usefull kernells. To make ICS work you will need ICS kernell

[Q] flashing new rom from gb to ics rom

i use arconium 7(gb) as my present rom but i want to upgrade into modded ics 90.2 lrs(ics).. im wondering if its ok if i just flash it directly to my phone or do i still have to flash stock ics firmware? any suggestions please?
you can directly jump from GB to ICS without flashing ICS firmware..but make sure you clean data and cache before installing ICS ROM
thanks!

But i think it's better to flash the stock ICS first for better performance and compatibility.
its doesnt matter... flashing an custom ICS ROM from GB is the same thing as flashing the stock ICS from GB, performance and compatibility will be changed in that ROM as well with other features.

Just wipe data and cache and flash MooDed.
but don't forget to flash an ics based kernel first!

Stock jb......

I wanted to know if I accept the stock jb update do I need to unroot? If I dont need to unroot can I flash a jb rom on top of the stock jb from sprint? Also if im not feeling jb too much would it be hard to go back to ics? I was on jb before with cm10 but it had alot of bugs. So I flashed an ics rom (strong steve odexed blue rom) to get back to 4.0. Since ill be on the stock jb would it be that easy to go back to ics from stock jb?
show me something worth my attention
Why not fash the JellyBean iteration of Odexed Blue, v1.2? It's an excellent JB ROM, and it's based on stock.
ROM - strongsteve's Odexed Blue LJ7 JB 1.2 Holy Grail
Baseband - LJ7
Kernel - Agat's custom TW JB v0.3.2

If you want stock, yes, you'll need to unroot, as the OTA requires stock recovery. Additionally, you'd be better off flashing a jellybean tw rom; as they're all based off official stock now. Just make a backup and flash.
