Jelly Bean 4.1.1 bugs. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Huge known bugs I have encountered.
1. when receiving a call or making a call, there will be no sound at all. this won't happen if you dial back or make the call again.
2. Bluetooth always get cut off for no reason.
3. when the phone gets into sleep mode ( overnight on charge ) loses internet or 4G info until reboot.
4. pressing the home button does not wake up the screen.
5. Camera does not auto shut off .

The title is kind of unfair to Jelly Bean, as these bugs are on a "leak" for your phone, but on the Google's Jelly Bean 4.1.1.
There is a reason why the official isn't out yet.

Hmmm I'm running tasks aokp and I don't have any of those issues? I'd try bnaughty's full wipe method and reflash.

interesting I followed the full procedure here and prior to my post I did a search and realized other people have some of the same issue as well.

I am using

and
cm-10-20120830-NIGHTLY-d2att.zip
Are you by chance running the same version ?
Thanks.

Hmm that's an outdated version of cm10. You should update to the latest and see if that resolves those issues. The gapps are current though so stick with that
In addition to system wipe you should always wipe cache& dalvik cache before you flash. That causes issues too
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium

Running 9/6 CM10, not issues either. Sounds like CM10 is more stable than the leak you are running

CM10 and Aokp are definitely stable roms. By looking at screen shots of jelly bean leak in can't go back to Touchwiz. Amazing roms both CM10 and Aokp. I don't have any of those issues here.

could anyone please provide me the link to the latest version for AT&T Samsung S3 if possible?
Thanks in advance!

Agreed!

These aren't bugs from a leak...They are bugs from an older build of cm10.

There's good reason you're having these issues. You're flashing something thats outdated. You really should come here to update and always use these forums for your source to update.

Right, or you could follow a port that has the less bugs. Need to read the OP and description plus the post people make about it
MIUI Jellybean 2.8.31 B2
If you prefer flashing recently updated roms be sure and ask the op and he should get a update put together for you right away

There are several good developers that are chomping at the bit to get it, but most developers are gonna wait for an official OTA, better safe than sorry...:silly:
Myn is pumping away with the leaks, and is real close to having a RC, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853348 but there still some inconvenient issues stonewalling him.

I do not have a computer so can't root and therefore flash a rom. I have read that the official update to Jelly Bean will come to the sgs3 soon. Has anyone heard about how long? I want to flash a new rom and wish there was a way without a computer. I didn't need one when I had my Infuse.

You can get Chainfire's Mobile Odin and flash ROMs directly from your phone.
I say wait a month or 2 for the real update and not a bugged Rom XD
Cm10 has less real bugs then the LG 8 roms it is almost flawless and extremely stable I still have the flicker every once in awhile but not often .......really screw the carrier updates that are loaded with bloat ware

Actually, this is incorrect. Since he doesn't have a computer to root initially mobile Odin won't work because it requires the device to have already been rooted.

4.1.2 smoothness..?

Hi All,
I have been using 4.1.2 few days now, and I'm really confused. This is not as smooth as expected. Launcher jerks quite often, not much but much more than in 4.1.1. Am I only one with this issue or do someone have similar experience..?
Thanks !

I did "clean-flash" with literally full wipe, I don't see any differences in smoothness compared to JRO03c.

There were very few changes to the launcher in 4.1.2. Most dealt with orientation on larger screens (like the Nexus 7). So I don't see how it would be any less or more smooth than 4.1.1. Most likely, the user didn't do a clean install or they are just noticing small lags more because they are looking for it.

Cannot agree more. :good:
Maybe it's just a placebo effect but I think autorotation (landscape to portrait and vice versa) animation seems more fluid here than on 4.1.1 which I considered little jittery.
Thank you everyone. I am sure this jerks more than 4.1.1 in my device.. But if it works normally for everyone else then the problem has to be in my device/installation. Installation should be clean (done according installation script). One thing I'm wondering is Google Wallet. I downloaded image with wallet, but it does not seem to be enabled in my region. But neither that should cause jerking..?
You probably need to flash 4.1.2 drivers update. Check this:

I flashed AOKP 4.1.2 and got back my smoothness with it.

Thank you for the tip ! I'm just more confused.. are these drivers really missing from official google factory image..?
The stock image comes with all the drivers and binaries. Maybe turn it off and back on? I have absolutely zero lag and have about 30apps in total. Maybe close the ones you are not using?

ASOP roms may not have them, but should be included in stock.
Do a nandroid backup, flash and test. It is a very very small file to flash. It helped me with AOKP (AOSP).
Before flashing over 4.1.2, I flashed over a 4.1.1 and .... I think a got some additional smoothness, but .... as there is not accurate procedure to measure smoothness, could be only my sensation.
EDIT: 124 user apps running smooth with AOKP
No lag here 53apps try XenonHD smoothies ROM in my experience

call delay making + answering after flashing a 4.2 rom

I'm curious if anyone has experienced a call delay when making a call and answering after flashing a 4.2 ROM coming from 4.1.1 and if so any fix?
Its a documented issue and there isn't a "fix". It'll be sorted out with in a few nightlies.

[Discussion] Returning to older versions of Android

Hey,im bored so id like to start a discussion.
So my question is,has anyone ever went from 4.2.1 jb to 4.1.2? Or even ICS?
I've went from 4.2.1 to 4.1.2,cm10.00 stable, and it's a major difference. Both it lacks some features, but much much better in speed and overall stability.
I've been thinking about to go from my cm10.1 nightly to cm9.1.
Lets see your thoughts
I don't think going back to ICS would be any good since you'll lose all the speed improvements from project butter. I'm considering gong back to 4.1.2 myself tho

4.1.2 is much faster and more stable than 4.2,believe me

I agree with the "more stable" part, since I had to stray from stock kernel to avoid SAD (suddenly absent display). But faster? No. At first 4.2 slowed my phone down, after a factory reset the speed and smoothness has been identical.
So now using rasbean and dax modified trinity my phone is as stable as it was on stock 4.1. Now I wait for 4.2.2.

Look!Look at my pucture! Yes! I am a demon,my girlfriend caught me accidentaly whe she was taking a picture!
I hate the lockscreen on 4.2... I keep trying CM 10.1 and AOKP builds but I still hate it.
4.1.2 is going to be on my phone from now on until there is a way to revert the lockscreens!!
Overall I don't see the need for 4.2 yet. I can install the 4.2 camera and keyboard. So I don't think I am missing out on anything but some new animations
I'm so used to CM10.1 I don't think I could go back now!
I used cm10.1 for a while then went back to lastest cm10 nightly. It just feels much better in use and at least for me battery life is better.
I find 10.1 more stable and I get better battery life too. The lock screen is definitely nicer looking on 10 I'll give you that one.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Sourcery has too many customizations to go anywhere and it's extra
stable with ak kernel. Major updates all the time. Latest gives us
combined nav and status bars crazy boot animation and much more.
Lockscreen doesnt bug me. But the overall stability. 4.2.1 even lags here and there.
And cm10.1 is good, and id use AOKP,but its kinda slow. And i hate transparent status bar and nav bar. It just doesnt go with me.
Look!Look at my pucture! Yes! I am a demon,my girlfriend caught me accidentaly whe she was taking a picture!
I went from 4.2.1 to 4.1.2 to cm 10.0 and I love it

New GNex owner here... I tried going back to 10.0 stable from stock 4.2.1, but I kept getting keyboard FC's. I believe this was due to me running stock 4.2.1 before flashing... Maybe someone can confirm that I'll need to flash stock google 4.1 image before I try to go back to 10.0?
Like others, I just don't like the 4.2.1 lockscreen at all.
I think that doesnt really matter. You should wipe everything before and after, and find 4.2 keyboard for cm10,it works just fine.
Look!Look at my pucture! Yes! I am a demon,my girlfriend caught me accidentaly whe she was taking a picture!
4.1.2 is where I'm staying for a while.
Isn't this discussion similar to other 4.2 vs 4.1 threads ? And those who went back to ICS are in minority I guess.

I am surprised, I know every phone is a little different but I used to have to plugin around 10 or 10:30 with only 5% left now I plug in around 11 and I still have 40 to 45%. I used to suffer from the phone not turning on at least once a day I would have to pull battery (tried multiple ROMs same on each) now it has been running for a week no issue. I guess I will count myself lucky and not mess with it.

Sprint LG G2 no love?

So Ive never had a device (even on sprint) that has no development to be seen within a weeks period of time. I believe the Root we have is from other devices and the CM 10.2 build that was posted was something that was supposed have never seen the light of day and was broken. I totally love this phone but I was really excited for the development aspects since its basically nexus 5 with a different shell. Anyone else with the sprint variant a little worried by the lack of interest?
I'm on the same boat, many probably are.
This phone is still solid stock.. all I really need is tethering... patiently waiting

Development is under way. There are 2 devs working on a CM 10.2 ROM right now and another working on a version of CleanROM for us. Its going to take some time and the phone hasn't been out for a week yet.
Also the CM 10.2 ROM was removed because the build was not tested and verified by the dev to be working and they removed the links to it in case it caused a potential brick to the phone. People who downloaded the ROM say it had GPS lock and rotation issues so you don't want to download the ROM anyways. In fact they saved you the hassle of reverting back to stock or a nandroid backup. Read the last few posts in that CM 10.2 thread to get a sense of the situation.
I am not worried at all about the "lack of interest" in this phone. You have to remember that not all the potential devs have received the phone yet such as garwynn who probably just received the phone today. Lets give the potential devs some time to come out with new ROMs and other mods. There are enough ways currently to mod the current stock ROM anyways through Xposed and other mods like (increase volume).
Its only been a week. Our device was rootable even before Sprint released it. I'm not worried. For now I've been using Greenify + Titanium Backup to keep my phone in battery/performance BEAST MODE.

Install G2 xposed and you'll see you can do a lot of the customization yourself. There's also an xposed kitkat theme in the theme's section by ock. The device is already fast and ignoring aosp roms, you can customize the stock rom to your liking.

I guess I didn't think about the fact that the other variants had been out for a few months already, but I really wasn't trying to comparing them. I was just noticing that compared to devices I've had in the past (even the SGS II which I hated lol) had some things pop up pretty quickly. Also make sure that no one takes this as me complaining, just thinking out loud here.
And as to the xposed stuff, Im atually just interested in some slimed down stock roms and AOSP, but thanks for making sure I knew about it
PS: Ive also had this phone for close to a month so Im probably feeling that rom flash bug harder than most XD
