New Google Earth with "terrametrics" *wow* - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Sorry if this is old news - I was fooling around with the new rev. of Earth when I was browsing around the Los Angeles area. Suddenly I noticed EVERY HOUSE and every structure, including trees had geometry and even vehicles were 3d..... wild..... it chugs a bit... maybe a functional fps around 15 or so but there has to be half a million polys on screen. From anything over a few hundred feet up, it looks amazing. San Fran, and Rome are also in terrametric detail.
If you havent, its worth checking out. Pretty amazing.

nothing on my end. i'm in Miami so i would expect a big city like this would have the detail as well. looks nice but nothing 3D.

May be why not everyone will have 3D.

you're not THAT crazy. still not working in Miami but I went to SanFran and yes it's in decent 3D. saw the Golden Gate bridge

Here's SLC. Thanks OP, I had no idea...Lol Google is incredible!

i wished Google maps were as good as Bing.. i would have much preferred a "birds eye" view with better quality like Bing has.

Thanks for the post. Works great here in Phoenix

I like Google Earth,that‘s great.

Google Earth and My Tracks integration
If you record your movements in Google My Tracks you can send them to Google Earth and "fly" along the path.

The screencap above does it no justice. And while many cities include 3d objects, I think only Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Rome are have the terrametric maps. It seriously looks photo real and every dang thing is 3d. ... the vents on top of buildings have separate geometry....just scan around....the detail is pretty crazy.

Anyone watch "The Office"?

I'm watching the episode from last Thursday and the Incredible made an appearance while Michael is in the gas station.
I noticed that too! All it took was to just see the slim black figure and the red camera bezel.
Then I noticed it was running a stock ROM.
Then I enjoyed the episode
Totally noticed it right away! it was a grand cameo! We should root it for that guy LOL
Yeah first television appearance of an inc that i've seen... was nice

In the AT&T commercial where that goofy guy with the blackberry has that awful laugh when he gets a message... Wow, that was stupid sounding...
Anyways, the guy in the glasses in the front of the car has an incredible.

I thought I noticed Jennifer Love Hewitt using an Incredible on a Hallmark TV movie "The Lost Valentine" a couple weeks ago that also starred Betty White.
I could have been mistaken though, I was mainly playing Angry Birds and wasn't really paying attention.
My 2 loves
The Office + My DINC
I was telling everyone that that was my phone when it came on hah

I was pretty sure it was an EVO; the screen was wide and the camera was in the middle of the back, not to the side.

That's been an evo as well. Same reason as above. Camera was in the middle of the back.

Epic4G Camera detects IR?

I recently went out and bought a Kinect for the 360. After playing around with it and working to have it work correctly, I rigged it up on pole for testing and took a picture with the phone because of the redneck-ish way its just sitting up there (too good not to share).
When looking at it (the photo), I noticed that the IR port on the Kinect was glowing in the photo (violet). I've got the photo on my phone, but its too large to directly attach and I've got no access to places like photobucket while at work. I'll have to post it later..
So.. Anyone else have any experience with the Epic4G Camera picking up IR signals?
Can't wait for pics

Here it is.. notice the green "on" light. On the kinect, the left most is the IR source. Glowin purple *shrug*
Yes. Its a PVC pipe. No, there is no base. No, the sensor is not attached in any way. It was oddly secure just sitting up there.

Ahh. I didn't know that! Kind of was weird when I saw the photo, ergo the question. Thanks!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Lots of cameras detect bits of the IR spectrum. Cameras, unlike people see all the electromagnetic energy that hits their sensors. They typically have filters to dampen this effect but I can't remember having a camera that didn't see a little bit of infrared. It is the same with the Wii in my house.
Posting epic posts straight from my Epic 4G.
Its a digital camera thing. Film wouldn't have this issue, but its about the way that the sensors on digital cameras detect light.
That is some trippy isht. Thank you for posting

That PVC kinect stand is nothing to be embarrassed of! Now that border along your ceiling is another story! lol j/k!

[Strange Trend] Play

Notice a strange trend?
Perhaps the "Play" name is an indication that the Market was sorely lacking in BDSM content?

LOL... That is kinda funny...
I just noticed the plumbers crack. A whole lot of whips + a butt shot, more disturbing by the minute.
The rise of whip apps is caused by the most recent episode of The Big Bang Theory, in which it's used a lot
Three words. Big Bang Theory.
The whip app was in the last episode and it was funny as hell. You guys should watch more TV. Have to admit I got a huge amount of laughs using the whip at work. Haha!

Bazinga!!!
Lol. Looking at the OP it took me a minute, and a Google search, but I got ya. I was just about to add that its probably because of TBBT, but that's already been said. I'm not even going to lie, I searched for "whip" in the Play Store and downloaded a few of those apps myself. One didn't sound right and the other took forever to load and then when it did load you have to manually switch to the right whip. Sooo.. Did anybody find a good app with the right whip sound and doesn't take forever to load? lol

Custom FlyGrip (pic/review)

Hey xda community!
Just wanted to share something I got in the mail today. A couple weeks ago on the ACSyndicate forums, QBKing77 and the FlyGrip creator hosted a design contest for a custom flygrip. I went with a microchip looking Android green theme... and won!

I'm ridiculously impressed with this thing. Definitely a stable grip and as someone who spends a good amount of time roaming the University of Texas at Austin campus, it's nice to be able to browse Twitter or whatever while walking to class and not worry about dropping my E4GT.
Check this out. You need to.

It's definitely worth the buy. Got mine about a week ago and love it. I'd rather have this than those ugly phone cases out there.

This thing is awesome. I just wish they would integrate this into a case.
I used mine for a while but took it off. To me its more valuable to have on a tablet. so im saving my second adhesive piece for when I get a tablet

Does anyone know why this happens?

So I am using my phone like normal and suddenly every word on the screen looks like its jumbled up. I have no idea why this happens but it goes back to being normal as son as I hot reboot my phone or kill the app. I have posted a screenshot of what I have described above.
Many thanks to whoever replies.

Common issue with just about every ICS rom for the DZ/G2, usually have to force close the app (manage app) to get it to go away for that app. Fortunately it only seems to happen so often and usually to a specific app when it does.
Oh okay then, I thought I was the only one who's phone suffers from this problem...it usually happens when I'm boasting in front of my bro who has an iPhone about how awesome Android phones are lol... but thanks for the quick reply!

Yea it caught me off guard too the first time, a little googling and searching XDA pretty much cleared it up. I rarely get it but least I know when it does happen it's not a big deal, usually only shows up for me in the play store.
The layman reason would be because DZ/G2 has no official ICS drivers as of yet, so just bout everything is ported from other devices or rewritten so it may take some time before it's rock solid. Fortunately though most of the work put into ICS can most likely be applied to Jelly Bean (i.e.: 4.0.* -> 4.1.*)
