Hi Guys,
I have 2 One X's, and i'm using the original HTC charger and Nokia AC10-E, both works great.
I've ordered two more AC10-E because i like the look and feel of them.
However, the new chargers make my touch screen on both phone behave odd while charging.
i had this issue on my iPhone (yes, we all had one) with 3rd party charger and i've searched here and saw a lot of complains of this issue (Any phone, Galaxy S3, sensation etc).
I just wonder, why charging effect the touch screen ?
i mean, i'm looking for the technical cause of it, it really curious me
Thanks!

Perfectly normal. Charging connects the phone to the ground and this messes up the capacitive touchscreen. Try holding your phone in your hand while using during charging and this will greatly improve touch accuracy.

I had this "problem" too even with the stock charger which came with my hox, but after latest update I have never noticed it again

Normal ?
why does any other charger doesnt make this ?
Anyway, i've investigated the charger i bought just now.
it weight less (54g instead of original 71g)
the screws are different
the text on the side has different font
the cable locker (white one) is low quality.
Lucky me to have PayPal resolution center.
Yeah, my girlfriend bought a 3rd party charger that did this to every touchscreen phone we plugged into it. My Dell D830 has the same effect when devices are connected to its USB ports and its plugged in. Being a magnesium alloy chassis, you can also feel a slight 'buzz' if you rub your finger along the surface of the laptop while it's plugged in. I got the same thing with my old PowerBook G4s if they were plugged into the 'plug top' adapter (and buzz on the audio line out too), yet if I used the long lead into the power supply (which was earthed) the buzz on the casing and audio output would disappear. I wish manufacturers would use a proper connection rather than a floating ground, that's the issue.

My phone sits by my computer most of the time, and with my HTC Mogul, then HTC Touch Pro, then EVO 4G I've bought a combo cradle/battery charger. I haven't seen one mentioned available here for the Epic 4G Touch and I just found/bought one on eBay and thought I'd mention it for others interested in a device like this. Once I receive the item I can post a review if you guys would like.

This looks like the one I had for my Touch Pro 2... it worked nicely and was cheaper than the official docks.
I am interested in your impressions as well.
thanks
Question for anyone that has purchased this dock..
Have you been able to charge your phone with any type of case on it? Thanks.
Just a quick update. I got the charger, but I don't have an Epic 4G Touch yet. The first seller I bought the phone from ended up being from a scammer. I gave the dock/charger to a friend, and bought another one that's already here. I should have the Epic 4G Touch from another seller here by Tuesday and will post my impressions soon after.
Damn, sorry to hear that..
Ok guys...
Im also looking at desktop cradles and found this other one:
From an Amazon vendor:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OTXKK4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3CZ5XR3PIAJMS
It's basically almost the same design as the one the OP linked to. What do you guys think?
I kind of wanted one that you could rest the phone in and charge it with a cover on, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

I think this one is better because you can turn your dock on its side like if you were watching Sprint TV...

This one looks nice, but some of the reviews for this brand (for other phones) mentions it covers up the speaker so when the phone is docked the sounds are silenced since the speaker is at the bottom. Although this may be true for all these 3rd party docks.
It's cool, Paypal resolution against the scammer just resolved today and they sided with me and already credited my PayPal account.
---
For that other cradle from Amazon, though you probably can put it on its side I'd be concerned with the side buttons/hitting the desk and possibly being pressed in, and possibly the device itself slipping out. The other concern I have with that model is that I can't clearly see the extra battery charger compartment. The one I got should accommodate extended batteries, but I can't tell on that model.

it looks like the one from Amazon just a different brand.. it also covers the speaker so I wonder if you can hear the alarms or music... there may be enough room behind the actual phone to allow the sound to be heard, but it doesnt look like it.
Quick first impressions:
* Feels solid and fits snugly, so pay attention when docking the phone in as it aligns only one way.
* When no battery is in the battery charging slot there's a LED that flashes crazy fast green/red which may bother some people. You can always cover it up with electrical tape. I don't notice it most of the time since my phone blocks the LED anyways when docked.
* A significant negative and quite surprising difference in the dock compared to the docks I had for my EVO 4G / Touch Pro and Mogul are that this dock only has one USB slot. So it either charges the battery and phone from a wall plug or it charges the battery and connects/charges the phone via your computer's USB port. My previous phone docks had 2 USB connectors, one for the battery and one for the phone. I haven't tried connecting this to my computer or charging an extra battery yet but I'm figuring trying to charge two things at the same time via one USB cable, especially when connected to a computer USB port would not be very efficient.
Update 12/09/2011: Argh, deal breaker, just got my Trexcell 3800mah Extended Battery, but because of the location of the battery contact on the battery and dock it won't fit, .
Killabee and talynone
that second black dock is the one I am interested in. my PRIMARY concern with docks that use the charging jack on the phone (whatever happened to dedicated dock "contacts" on phones Cheap SOB's)
is that I want the phone IMMOBILIZED while in the dock. ie I don't want to be able to TILT the phone forward while in the dock "stressing and breaking" the usb jack on the phone.
IE I want the dock to RESTRICT the movement of the phone to vertical only (insert remove dock connector type motion)
the first dock in this thread would NOT prevent the phone from tilting forward.
the second one I am not sure about. do those sides "wrap" around the edge of the phone enough to restrict its movement to a solid slide and NO forward slop?
Here is a video of what I mean. (its processing give it a few minutes to process)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhWtz5EU_Rg
nerys71,
I saw your video and can tell you that the phone in this dock is not restricted from tilting. So yes it will tilt while charging. I am talking about this dock:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OTXKK4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3CZ5XR3PIAJMS
ahh pity. I assume you have it? does the phone protrude past the front "AT ALL" in that dock? IE it looks like it would be friendly to modding it with 2 "lips" on the front to prevent the phone tilting.
Yeah I have it. It doesn't pertrude at all. The phone sits flush.

mine does it sometimes when charging, some people say using a different charger will fix it, but it hasn't for me..
saying that, i think its my 'dirty' power supply in my house, its an old house and electrics have a lot of interference, the problem doesn't happen to my phone whilst charging at work for instance.
I've experience this and these are my thoughts on this, although this wasn't specifically for the oneX:
Incompatible charger
-using a different branded charger, class A replicate.
Power supply/plug:
-I can't be sure of this I'm pretty sure every other gadget should have blown up if this is the case
Generally you lose control of your screen I'm thinking this would be hardware faults or just incompatible voltages.
I'd advice you to take your device and charger to the place where you bought it and test it there, or find an electeician friend
on xda for android and mistyping like a boss
I think ill take my charger (the one that came with the phone, but presents the problem when home) to work, and see what happens.
Rather than it being too high a voltage from the plug etc, I think its the interference/noise on the power lines, my speakers (in the same room) have this buzzing sound when using an analog cable, I need to use optical to eliminate the sound. Problem never happened until I moved here, turns out the speakers should be shielded against this (they are z5500) but its on the net that others have the problem also.
All the opinions lead to interference on the power supplys in the building.
Another example in the same house I'm in:
Couldn't run a long 20 meter ish phone cable up the stairs, as the speed of internet deteriorated from 20mbit to about 2mbit. It was fine at my old house with speeds.
I ran an Ethernet cable upstairs instead, just the standard utp, its the twisted pair that stops crosstalk, which I was hoping would eliminate the interference from the power. It worked
Anyway..
This leads me to think its another problem with this phone, as charging any other phone with the same charger, in the same house, same socket even, doesnt present the problem. Hopefully something software is able to fix.

How do these compare to the HTC official speaker dock? As they can be had for around £41 if they are similar in terms of sound quality it might be better to get the official one for the pogo pin charging?

It's fine, just remember it's not a dock so it won't sync with anything. It plays music via Bluetooth, has a night light as well and charges phone when connected to dock.
As it's Bluetooth you can connect any Bluetooth device and stream your music, it's loud and sounds good for a mono speaker. Better than on board speaker. I do have a video but my upload speed is poor!
The Philips app is useless so I just connect straight via Bluetooth. I use it at night to charge my phone and as an alarm clock.
For the price it is really good, I was surprised by the sound it produces.

Ive done a little video for YouTube - please dont think i'm stealing any thunder here as thats the last thing on my mind.
However i do want to say a massive thankyou to mugglesquop for revealing this in the first place.
This has the benefit over the other Speaker Dock 'cr s650' in so far as the Philips can bu used with a multitude of phones now and in the future - as long as they have the mini usb ports on them.
Where as only the HTC one X will work with the 650 because of the pogo pins placement and if you upgrade your phone in the future unless its got the exact same layout as the HTC one X then the 650 will be redundant - the Philips though should be better value as even if you upgrade in the future the chances of your new device having a mini usb is high (higher than having the perfect placement of pogo pins i reckon).
EDIT - on a side note when i dock my HTC onto the Philips i have to remove my phone case as the charging port in the Philips wont quite fit snuggly enough to charge.
Soooooo anyone know of any decent gel, silicone, other HTC one X cases that are very thin (but offer protection) that would allow a fit that is more flush with mini usb chargers - thus charging my phone.
I have a MHL adaptor for my TV and on this too i have to remove my phone case otherwise the USB wont fit into my phone quite right - Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Thanks for any suggestions
Excellent video mate I was having troubles capturing the volume but it is loud.
As for case I use a Tourmate case from obostore and it fits with it on, it is similar to the Rock sand cases which are popular.
For the price it's a decent little driver.

Alright mate, quick question. Did you manage to get the dock extension (little plastic thing) to fit properly over the usb so it was flush? I just got mine today but for some reason the dock extension doesn't go down low enough so the phone won't plug in properly, seems to be getting stuck on the little cogs used to raise and lower the height adjusters, would you mine uploading a pic of it?
Cheers
Daven
@daven
The cogs have got to be wound all the way to the bottom - the little attachment will only fit on the usb section in one way i believe - it goes on about 3/4 of the way and the last bit needs to be pushed with a little force to snap it into place.
Ahh thanks, I got it after applying a bit of force. I was worried about breaking it. Nice youtube video, the dock is brilliant, I've found it to work really well with the sony smart connect app (which I also use for my nfc tags). I've set it up to automatically bluetooth connect to the dock and launch dock mode when the phone is docked, and then play music for an hour when I wake up in morning. Sound quality is surprisingly impressive for something so small.
How did you find the official app for it? I found it to be a bit too cumbersome, so just uninstalled it.
I've frozen songbird and Fidelio using titanium back up and i'm manually turning on bluetooth on the HTC one X and using Power AMP as my music player. :good:
I thought for the first day that i was tied to just using the Songbird/Fidelio combo so went with this. :silly:
Came home from work today and started up Power AMP instead and it works brilliantly, you can even change the graphic equaliser and the Philips Dock adjusts too - perhaps this is a feature of all docks,im not sure as this is my first
Im trying to set up something with 'Tasker' at the moment to get the most out of the Dock, though i have got NFC tags too so might have a play later and see what i can come up with
Just purchased one of the Rock Quicksand cases as its very thin but theres still no way it will dock properly to the speaker dock and charge, even after pushing fairly firmly it wont click in so instead ive removed the little plastic adapter that clicks on the USB and now my phone sits just nicely.
Incidentally i tried to sit the HTC One X onto the USB without its plastic adapter but leaving an ordinary gel case on the phone but that wouldnt work so my best bet is to use the Rock case and remove the plastic adapter off the speaker dock.

Desktop docks.. Do you have one? Is Kidigu the only non-official one that supports anything audio/video output? Is the HTC one the only1 supporting pogo's?.. It boggles my mind that there's not an honest portrait-mode dock, using the pogo's, I presume those are made from same standard as the regular USB? I mean.. The wirering? Have you guys found anything portrait-mode, that will charge the HTC One X?
- I'm not a big fan of the bulky, white 30 degree charger from HTC. - I reckon I may as well place the phone directly on the table if I want it facing screen up and save the 1209319320 quid for an "elevating prop". *wink wink* For me a charger is supposed to be in portrait mode.. :/ But that's ofc. me. You guys can use whatever you'd like, lawl.
Anyways, have you found anything other than the landscape docks?
No, but I did try to make one... As it happens it didn't work. I didn't have the time, patience or drive. But having said that it shouldn't be all that challenging. Lots of cool ideas for them on the Google (Google is your friend). So maybe give that a go?

A word of warning: I've got two original speaker docks. Both of them randomly makes crackling and hissing noises - even when no phone is connected.
The original docks are also pretty annoying - requiring a shim if you don't have a case that fits in the dock. This shim falls off most of the times I pick up my phone.
And the volume control sucks. The difference from "mute" and "as low as possible" is HUGE. There is no middle ground - and I have to turn down the volume on the phone before I dock so the volume isn't completely insane.
(But the sound is pretty awesome though)
What I've found to fix the crackling is cleaning both the dock and phone.

Docks and phone started crackling when brand new. And the dock starts crackling on its own, without a phone in it. I doubt cleaning the contacts will help anything with that.

Hi,
so soon my nexus will be here and after over 6 years with iPhone I'm moving to try android.
one think i always loved about my iphone is the docking station, makes life better and easier.
now with the iphone its very easy to find docking station that fit 100% right, and then i dont have to worry about damage to the charging port, the phone is held up very tight and i never had any problem.
on the android camp its harder to find phone specific accessories so heres what i manage to find:
im looking for a cheap solution but can pay a little more if its really worth it
cheap:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-D...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item2ecab22c6d
expensive:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-M...Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item43c158ab0c
the expensive one at least comes with a cable, and heres a video i found that shows that this product might be a better choice:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTyGmNTh6iA
i just dont want the device to wobble freely hanging only by the usb connector.
i also hear that micro usb is much weaker then apple connectors so im a bit worried.
any1 have any experince with such products? what do u think? am i risking damage to my usb port? thanks.

IMHO ... yes, you are risking damaging the port. I personally wouldn't even consider using one as I've gone through a bunch of phones that the Micro-USB eventually stopped working properly. The Nexus one was notorious for that problem as have been quite a few other devices. Micro-USB just doesn't hold up over time.
Now, back to your problem. One thing the Nexus 5 has over the iPhone is Qi Wireless charging. So, might I suggest stop thinking in terms of how you would plugin in your iPhone to charge it, and to sync it with iTunes. All of this can be done using apps that sync wirelessly (iSyncr etc) and a good Qi charger.
Here's a good starting point for a "dock" like standing position while your N5 charges:
http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-DT910-Wireless-Charging-Stand/dp/B00A3NCC8M
It's important for you to note the orientation of the Micro USB port on the phone. On nexus devices reversed compared to the samsung phones those docks are for. I own the dock on the first link. It will not work with the Nexus.
You need one that's pin-side facing you. Unless you want the phone facing away from you
It's an annoying aspect of the Micro USB standard -- when it comes to direction, there is no standard.
DIY: Not ideal because it doesn't LOOK great but does WORK great. I bought the dock from that first link for my S3 and because of its 'universal'ness it was extremely wobbly, putting much undue strain on the port. I stuck a couple wads of Sugru down on the dock and behind the connector (where the phones back would rest) and stuck my phone in. When it dried after 30 minutes I had a perfect custom fit. Looked like **** though. Function over form in this case.

this...
but this is also a relatively new thing as the Nexus 4 was the "standard" way that everyone is used to (small side up where the Nexus 5 flipped it to small side down)
For charging, I would recomend the Google's wireless charger: https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_Wireless_Charger?id=nexus_wireless_charger. As for syncing, what kind of things are you going to sync from your computer to your phone? On the android side the majority of things can/are synced over wifi or cloud services.

Thanks for all the answers...
I didn't think about orientation lol, i forgot about this issue.. so docking stations seems meh ATM
about wireless chargers... quite expensive IMO and i always fear that since the phone is not being held tightly it might fall and break.
i put my phone on a nightstand near my bed so accidents in the dark could happen, and i also like it when the phone is standing so i can see the screen without picking it up.
so that limits the range of wireless chargers i can use.
syncing is not a problem btw.
good thing i asked here.. i almost bought one of those. i guess ill try to find wireless one that suites me.
thanks again!

Google is your friend as usual, Kidigi are about to launch a Nexus 5 specific dock which is more substantial than the one you were looking at.
