Does the Note's S Pen work with the Galaxy S3?
Nope, s-pen is an active digitizer. There isn't the same tech/hardware in the g3 as there is in the note
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Go on eBay and search Galaxy S3 stylist, and you can get one that works for the S3. The price range is $. 99 to $29.99. They have some almost identical to the Notes S pen, for one just like that you are looking at around $29.99

There is nothing for the S3 that will be comparable to the S-pen on the note. The C-pen is decent, but it's not going to be as precise, or responsive as the S-pen.

The c pen is definitely more accurate than the ball stylus pens due to the slim tip so you can actually see where you are writing. The only problem with the c pen is that it will occasionally not register as touching the screen.
I bought one because I take a lot of notes using S memo and I had an extra $20 bucks laying around lol. So if you can spare the cash I would reccomend it over the ball stylus pens but just know that it will only work for the s 3
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Either that or i'd just get an Adonit Jot stylus....
I just use one of the ones that have a rubber ball at the end.
C-pen didn't work out for me, because it's design a little bit fat. I guess, that's the only way to have stylus is to buy Galaxy Note Series . And also they have wacom grid, which can sense pressure.
good info

C pen is so expensive. How little are you really gonna be clicking? S3 doesn't have the special touch screen built in like the note so the pen gets bigger or smaller from how hard you press anyway. Any cheap stylus will work great. I got a laser, flashlight, chrome pen, and stylus in one for like 6 bucks at Monoprice. Works better than I dreamed.

At least now I can give a mini review. It works great as a pen and I use it whenever I have to sign something. Stylus tip still works fine and always has no problem with responsiveness. Only thing that sucks is the flashlight and laser died fast. It's all chrome and black so it still looks nice, but I have no idea how to put a new battery in. I even called and asked them, but how they said to do it was still impossible.

I have a few capacitive styluses that I use on my Asus Transformer. I bought them from ebay for a few pounds each and they work very well especially in graphic design apps such as Sketchbook Express.
Worthy addition to any capacitive screen.

Ten One Design make some pretty good capacitive styli. I used their Pogo Sketch with my phone for a while and it was excellent - but drawing on a 3.7" phone just isn't any good so I gave it to my mother (who has an iPad 2.)
As for Deal Extreme, I tried one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/aluminum-alloy-touchpad-stylus-pen-for-apple-ipad-ipad-2-black-57797, and it worked. It was pretty crappy though.
U can check out the adonit jot & jot pro (Check my sig)... in my opinion it's the best out there. Also theres the Writepad Stylus app for handwritten notes, also the best of the best!!!

Anyone ever tried one before? Or could recommend a decent one? TIA

I only got the 6 pack cuz we got 5 androids in the house and a Samsung series 7 windows tablet so each device got it's own stylus and I have 2 with my kindle fire cuz one of the Androids is a note so its got its own super pimp s pen that thing is cool as hell, u cab draw/write with one side and erase with the other and it learns multiple styles so if more than one person uses it it will adjust to each persons style based off of small things like angle its held against the screen and pressure used to contact the screen, but that's wacom for you they have some seriously sophisticated touch pen technology, If the note/journal or something similar comes to sprint it may just be my first Lte device

Monoprice has those too for very cheap
http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=stylus&x=0&y=0
be careful when using those when you write on an angle though, you can scratch your screen if you press too hard with the metal part
Just a heads up, I've tested three Wacom Styli with my Sprint Galaxy Note 2 and each one works perfect. In fact the digitizer in the galaxy note has built in functionality for the eraser and 2 button stylus that Wacom uses on the Intuos2 tablets. You can find these on websites usually cheaper then the Samsung ones. All my tests have shown the other styli to be very accurate
Note that I've only tested a Wacom Intuos 2 and Lenovo Thinkpad X series with built in Wacom stylus, I don't have any 3rd party models to test.
Love the use of common technologies. :good::good:

Hey gang, this may be a dumb question but I was wondering if I buy a stylus pen would it work for the GS3? the thing is that I wanted to get the GN2 but not enough money. I draw a lot and saw the capabilities of having this feature on the GN2 so I was wondering if I get a pen would it work for the GS3.
Have you googled it? I'm sure if it is capable it will be searchable.

Better yet Samsung make special pen just for galaxy s3 called "C pen". It has smaller tip like S-pen for G-note. It's $30 but if you register with Samsung, they will send you 50% off coupon.. But you can get from amazon too for $15.. Here is the search result link. Also Samsung link...

Thanks everybody. I even tried to take my GS3 back after a month to trade with the GN2 but no can do. I will try out the C-Pen and hopefully that'll work.
Its just that I draw a lot and especially in my anatomy class. I use those pictures to study while I'm at work. I wish I got the GN2. I got the GS3 because it was on sale, dang it. But I still love my GS3. Best phone for me coming off the Thunderbolt.
You should read some of the reviews on YouTube and Amazon before you plunk money into it. The general consensus is that it isn't very good especially for the price paid.

I have the spen with eraser and I can confirm that it's slightly off centered.
I filled the tip down to have it more precision.

Filling the tip down will do absolutely nothing. Don't believe me? Get yoru spen out, press it into your finger and then slide that same finger over the screen (finger nail touching the screen). The pen will still write. It's the depression and location of the pen, not the "tip"

There is another thread here where several users found that filing down the other end of the nib (not the bit that touches the screen) brought the pen closer to the screen. When the S Pen is vertical this makes no difference and all the alternative pens seem to work fine. However, when the pen is held at an angle, the slightly different length means the digitiser registers the location of the tip offset from where it really is.
It's true that it doesn't matter where the actual tip touches the screen but it does matter where the electronics in the pen are in relation to the tip.

You may not care about a 1mm difference between where the tip of the stylus is and the point where the touch registers, but it would drive me mad.
