i have already search it on google & xda and i haven't found any solution yet, i haven't bought the gnex yet, but i will, and the purple tint issue is really bothering me, how to fix it ? i have heard some custom kernel (franco.trinity) and they said you can remove the purple tint by calibrating the color of the screen, isn't purple tint a hardware problem ? how can it be repaired with a software ? in fact, the folks over "galaxy nexus screen, what's normal, what's not" thread said "just turn of the screen and you will never see the purple tint", I'm kidding, though.
thanks...
Trinity took care of it completely for me.

Only way is to flash a kernel? :/

god is the creation of people with nowhere left to turn
Trinity also did it for me too..took about 2 days to get used to. But I will NEVER go back..EVER...

So my Nexus has burn in. Nothing new there on an AMOLED based screen. However, the other four Nexus I've seen that are more than a month old have the same issues as mine.
My question is simply this: how many of you who have a Nexus have burn in? Please include age of Nexus and when you first noticed burn in, if possible, as I'm looking to put together an objective look at time between purchase and initial occurrence.
If you are using color mods, please mention that as well.
Thanks.

I'm like...mega OCD about screen-burn.
I don't even enable my nav bar %95 of the time.
It's only open when I'm going to need the back button repeatedly as I change settings or something.
So annoying having to do that to keep your screen looking decent =[
I also use the full-screen browser option to minimize status bar burn (as I'm primarily in my browser during use).
No burn yet though!
Phone is a few months old now.
And the only color mod that will hurt your screen is the color multipliers...
Which I leave at default.

I got no burn in at all - I've had the screen since launch but the internals are new-ish. (washed my first one on accident so bought a new one, swapped my original screen in since it was much better quality ) Stock everything except rooted and leaked 4.0.4 ROM. I don't leave my screen on unattended though.
I have major burn in, even from my keyboard being up.
Really sucks and makes me sad.
May try a burn in reversal app on the market, if it works i'll make a fullscreen version for us nexus users
If the burn-in is that bad, wouldn't you be able to have the phone replaced under warranty?
Is it really that bad? :O
I bought my Gnex three days ago and I use the phone quite a lot, so that'll probably happen soon.

My nexus is now on its 2nd day and I noticed on low brightness if I make the whole screen white I can see faint burn in from the status bar and navigation bar.
Can this be reversed or should I consider returning it for replacement?

Ick.
No way.
Roll around in a white screen for 3 minutes at a higher brightness.
It'll go away.
Would a stuck pixel rgb alternating screen help if I were to run it overnight while charging?

If and when my screen "burns-in", it would still be good for daily use, right? Is it something that would bother me much? I have this phone on a two-year contract and would hate having it fail me halfway.
Well it would be but it would definitely hurt the experience some.

Indeed it does. I've got a blacked out theme now, so I don't really notice it....but when it was stock/bright colored theme I noticed every bit of it.

I have searched t-mobile galaxy s4 quiet extensively, and didn't see anything addressing this issue, my apologies if I blindly skipped a thread talking about this. I wanted to know how many people are dealing with this screen smearing problem on their t-mobile galaxy s4, if there are only few I'm going to consider getting a replacement. Thank you.
there is no such topic on the t-mo version, but there is a 42 page thread about this on the int'l version, link below fyr. also, i have that problem along with some lags here and there as well, but not too bad that makes me wanna exchange for a new unit though. the camera shutter lag is what bothers me though.

yes mine does it too, its probably a issue in all the s4
I had noticed this in the first couple of days of using my S4 but now it seems to be gone. Had it for 6 days.
You can fix this issue by installing an app called screen adjuster, then setting the contrast to -7. This will eliminate true black (pixels will be illuminated as they were on the GS3), but will fix the smearing issue until Samsung pushes a fix (which may do the same thing).
Every s4 I have looked at has the smearing issue. I returned mine today and didn't bother to get another. I figure, hey if I'm going to shell out hundreds of dollars to a multi billion dollar corporation, then I want that product to work 100%
Smearing happens with any grey on black image. Try this. Google images "grey on black" then open them in gallery and zoom in. Move the image around and sometimes the screen even goes crazy and puts out white and black lines!! Yeah smearing can be "mostly" fixed via an app to turn down contrast. But why should we have to??? :banghead:

Downloading "screen adjuster" and setting the contrast to -30 fixes it but why do we have to do that with our brand new phones.
There is a new kernel that apparently fixes the smearing on the International S4, you can find that info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252445&page=60 I'm wondering if there will be a fix for this TM version. I can live with that "purple haze" but sometimes is hard to see text while scrolling on dark backgrounds.

I Have had the galaxy s4 for a week now
And noticed from day one that the whites look kinda beige or let's say ofwhite
I turned off the auto brightness ,auto screen adjasment, brightness to the max
But still the same, I compare it to my Laptop screen, and my older galaxy s2 , where the white are Def pronounced And clear
Is this a normal thing in the s4?
Or is it a flaw? If so, is it common?
What do you guys suggest?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I'd take it back to tmobile and exchange it. That is not normal
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Screen issues seem to be really common with the S4. I have an issue with the bottom half of the screen having the yellowish tint you're talking about, but the top half is fine. It's too late for me to take it back to t-mo unfortunately, but I may try contacting Samsung and seeing if they'll do a screen replacement under warranty.
It's a shame because I love everything else about the phone.
That sounds horrible. Hopefully you can exchange it.

It's normal. I compare my S4 screen to the screen on a few of my friends S4's who arent rooted and their whites dont look quite as white as mine, but that's because i use Trinity Colours to enable the cool colour settings. Used it on my S3 and my S4, and ever since then i just notice that off-white tint as small of a tint as it is unless im running Trinity Colours on cool settings.
You can always call customer service .And they will send a replacement. However you would need to send your damaged s4 back .as soon as you receive the replacement. and you should be good to go after that. Good luck.

Did you put the screen mode to professional photo or movie mode? Standard and above are more yellowish.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
try this
There is an option called "reading mode" . Keep it off.
Even i use a s4 and had the same problem.
Then i tried this. And thankfully it worked hope it works for you and other people
Recently my Tab 3 has been acting a bit weird. Currently it is not rooted and is only a few months old. The other day the screen would go from dim to bright and then black out. Sometimes while doing this the screen would turn a grayish color with vertical white lines. Even though this is happening it always comes back to normal. Has anyone experienced this and if so what is going on an what can I do to fix it.
The only thing I can think of is its the LCD panel going haywire. I'll notice mine flickering in the background while on a white screen so potentially I could have the same problem later down the road.
Sorry not much help, but it is a hardware problem

I never do warranty, but I'm pretty sure it would. Unless if someone else can chime in on this. But I'd get it checked out before it does get any worse then what it is.
If your rooted, unroot before you do and try to Odin back to stock or they'll tell you rooting was your problem which it never is lol
