What is the thing that allows some roms to automatically download apps that were previously installed, immediately after flashing the rom?

Try downloading ROM Manager from the Play Store and doing it that way.

I purchased the Pro version of clockworkmod rom manager from the Playstore.
But inside, it says that the AT&T i317 is not supported yet.
The issue is that I see tons of guides on how to flash Clockworkmod through ODIN.
Can someone care to explain the difference between installing it through the Playstore and flashing the nonpro version through ODIN? Why is it supported one method but not the other, or am I mistaken?
They have not updated it in the play store version of cwm, but it does exist for our device. Eventually in time it will be publicly availible through the play store app

I think youve got the two mixed up if I'm understanding your issue correctly. Clockwork Rom Manager is notnthe same thing as clockwork mod. The latter is a recovery, the prior is a toolbox for roms/kernels/recoveries etc

but the ROM manager cannot be used without the mod correct? The installation of the mod is done through the manager.

Correct, ROM manager is pretty much useless with their recovery (clockwork mod). There really is no advantage to ROM manager and twrp is probably a nicer recovery...certainly as nice and more compatible with most ROMs today.

I'm using latest CWM, always update recovery via rom manager.

Try using TWRP 2.3.3.0 as your recovery system instead, it's more up to date and is reliable. Just flash it through Odin, afterwards, you should be able to install and boot the ROMs perfectly.

If you don't mind switching to TWRP as the guy above said, then I would switch. If you like CWM, then make sure you aren't using the super wipe scripts on CWM versions other than 5.0.X

Did you manage to solve it? i'm having the same issue with every rom i flash
I have got a update for cm10.1.0 RD2 and was wondering, if I updated my ROM, would I have to re-flash my boot image again? I have tweaked the karnel for a SD card boost, that's it. Also I have customised my ROM using ROM toolbox pro, would I loose all my customisation and apps after updating my ROM? If so, does anyone know how I could get everything back after the update has finished? Thanks

Wrong Place
it should go in Q/A side
Funny thing how someone else said that a similar question in the Q/A side was in the wrong place. Do you know if I would have to then?

Well if you place it in a ROM section then I suggest at least to place it in original android section. This is the 'HTC sense' development section where most people don't know anything about cm10.

I told you to ask such questions in the respective ROM thread... meaning cm10.1 rom thread and not the Original Android Development... lol :silly:

Use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.timos.busyboxonrails&hl=en
After which it'll ask you whether you want to reboot to recovery to install or install directly. If you're using a custom kernel like ementalx or any other sense kernels that has read/write than just install normally. If you're using stock kernel than you'll have to pick the option of installing it via recovery

Yes, this app works perfectly. I was having similar issues with the Busybox app, and Busybox on Rails worked for me.
Oh I tried it before but it crashed at recovery but it worked this time thanks!
