Audio aux in Saab doesn't connect with sgs3 - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Does anyone else drive a Saab? Are you having problems with your phone connecting to aux? It works if I unhook the cord real quick from the car and push play on the phone and hook it back in. Just wondering if anyone has a fix or an adapter? I know it's the Saab input for the aux, just trying to find a way around it.
Tried buying a new cable and that wasn't it. Found a thread on another website but no answers, just questions.

Yeah, I have the same problem. I tried adding more cable length to see if it would change the impedance, but nothing helped. I was able to find an app called Headset Router that allowed you to play a song, but after it finished, it would stop.
I am going to return the phone today for the HTC 1x

What is weird is it works in my truck.. it's a Saab issue.

An issue while connected to car via AUX

I've noticed an issue while you're connected through an AUX cable to your car. I generally use AUX to play music, but I also use it to answer calls. When you're phone is connected to AUX and you receive a call, the listener on the other end of the line cannot hear you no matter how loud you scream to the phone. I realized that soon as i pulled the cable from the phone, the person was able to hear me. AUX only outputted what the person was saying through my car speakers, but it did not let me talk. With the EVO 4G, this was not an issue. Just wanted to point this out. Any workarounds would be nice
Im having no issues with mine. I'm able to listen through my car speakers and talk into the phone. Are you rooted?

Im stock rooted, happens on normal too. This only occurs in a phone call. Make sure youre not doing voice commands or something. Can you confirm everything is working?

How is this an issue in stock? hmm. Can anyone on STOCK confirm this?
It may be your aux cable. It would seem as your phone believes you have a headset plugged in.
No its a known issue, but technically not an "issue". I already brought this up in our internal forums at sprint, and the reply given by one of the engineers was that they contacted Samsung, and this behavior was implemented by design. I brought it up because i noticed this behavior myself, and its since been confirmed. However, i thought when i had the issue it was when it was charging simultaneously? I can't remember.
Also, it was on stock.

This happened to me today. I thought the person on the other end was deaf. I was getting annoyed so I hung up.
I have to apologize now. I hope they fix it because it comes in handy while driving.

Glad it's confirmed i'm not the only one lmao.
I haven't experienced this my with E4GT in it's car dock (don't remember if it happens without a dock), but I used to get that constantly from my Palm Pre and this thread is reminding me of how frustrating that phone was!
This doesn't make sense because the tip of my (and I'm assuming your) aux cable looks like any other headphone jack so I'm not sure why it's problematic, but it must be just long enough to make a phone think it's a headset.
I use my aux cable every day and have never experienced this problem

Maybe it's something to do with the AUX cable?

I have the same issue when answering a phone call.
but the strange thing is when I plug in the aux cable, the voice & talk pop up and asks: what would you like to do?
the thing puzzles me is if phone's mic is able to listen under voice & talk, why not in phone conversation?

I just bought one for ten bux at frys. gonna try it later today hopefully.
I bought 5 of them online for about 4 bucks a piece. Took several weeks to get them. I got 5 because I figured I'd loose them and originally got them for my nexus.
i made mine but anything designed for the galaxy nexus seems to work.
I have all usb host working ie, flash drive, mouse/keyboard, (stick mount & powered hub) (when you mount flashdrive etc use a file explorer to locate it on your sdcard "usbstorage").
any tips on getting bluetooth activated as my dongle shows up in usb controller app but the BT toggle switch doesn't stay switched:-(

no probs, i'm off to bed so i'll do it in the morning.
it,s 1.18am here.
I'm also trying to incorporate a male & female stereo jack so i can use the headphone port at the same time (this will make it alot more rugged as well as it will have the two points of contact and not just the usb).
when I strip it back down tomorrow I will post a step by step guide with pic's.
the hardest part is stripping the back off the micro connector to expose pin 5. also I used a multi meter with sewing needles taped to the test leads to test it all out after the build. (I made a straight one first which is easier but puts strain on the usb port)imo.
once the headphone jack extension is finished I will put in a lever for the power button
hope this helps and happy stripping (watch those little fingers it's fiddly) lol
haha I know exactly what you mean, I sliced my finger this morning trying to peel back the micro USB plastic but anyways thanks, I really appreciate it that thing is awesome

Will aux cord work for phone to stereo??

Ok so I'm getting really tired of using my ipod to play music in my car. Mainly cuz my computer no longer works so I cant add any new music to it. I tried connecting my s3 via usb but all my stereo gives me is an "n/a usb". So I bought this aux cord on ebay

When connecting USB, enable USB debugging, and when you mount the storage on your phone, try both MTP and PTP. Let me know how that works for you. And yes that cord will work for you.

Google music on car stereo USB

I have a car stereo with a USB that plays stuff from a USB flash drive or an iphone, but I wanted to stream google music over it. The advantage to doing that is it'll charge the phone too.
I don't have aux, don't need to answer the calls or change tracks using the stereo. I am thinking of fm transmitter too unless this is possible because then I won't have to buy something that either is too expensive or leaves a mess of wires around.
just buy a 64Gb USB stick for £20 and put ur music on it.
then buy an in car charger and plug your phone in

I think I made clear what I was asking about in the first post....but as always with xda, people seem to answer questions that aren't being asked. If you don't have an answer then why ask me that question.
I want to stream Google play music from my phone to the usb in the car stereo using the micro usb cable. If that's not possible then we can close this thread. Otherwise just answer the question

I used an fm transmitter. Got it for around £15.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
FM transmitter is your best bet unless you want to hardwire your own aux port into the car. As a bonus there are a lot of bluetooth fm transmitters that will let you mount your phone on the dashboard and play music/ navigation/ answer calls through the car stereo.
ok then, to answer your question: NO. and its a weird idea.
I use the HTC Bluetooth dongle in my car and the sound is fab! You just need mini jack socket on your stereo and you're good to go

No, it's not a weird idea and you're being unhelpful. He is 100% correct. Don't answer questions nobody asked and you won't get so much flak.
I would really, really like to be able to do this. My bluetooth connection works fine for audio on any app, but I am unable to pause / play / skip forward or back with bluetooth. This is so I'm not reaching down and looking at my phone screen while I'm driving... I don't want to get in an accident.
I know it's possible to control the app from my car's USB screen because the first time I plugged in my new MDI to USB adapter for 2011 VW GTI, it started playing a podcast from my IPP podcast app. I could pause, play, and skip for that app ONLY. I didn't have to do anything special, I just plugged it in and hit my USB input that is normally only for Apple.
I checked the Google Music app settings to see if there was anything remotely related to playing through USB media but there is nothing in there like that. So I know it's just a matter of Google updating the app to play via USB or someone making a 3rd party app which will pipe all audio through USB using the same method that IPP podcast apparently has accomplished.
I tried and gave up... in the end i got a new car lol but unfortunately not a solution to this

Well there IS a solution to this or my IPP podcast app wouldn't work. It just requires someone from Google to code their app properly, or a 3rd party mounting app be created.
A quick Google search reveals there are many people with my same issue that would appreciate it. If a 3rd party app were to be developed, I'm sure there is potential for profit on the developer's part.

[Q] Finicky connection with car audio jack

*Edit:*
Just so those who just joined in this converstation don't get too dragged into it, I've resolved this issue simply by buying what is called a ground loop noise isolator adapter. It's main purpose is to remove the static and whining noise you hear from your speakers when you plug your phone to the car charger while connected to the speakers. But at the same time, it is keeping the signal from the aux cable of your car on "hot" so that when you plug in the phone, the phone immediately picks up the aux signal and stays connected. I basically killed two birds with one stone by getting the adapter. Here is the adapter I purchased:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001EAQTRI
I will make it clear here that this aux connectivity problem has nothing to do with how cheap or expensive your aux cable is. You can use the most expensive cable or the cheapest penny cable out there and if the problem exists between your phone and your car's aux, then it won't resolve it. Either change your car's head unit (which is a stupid thing to do) or simply get the adapter. Don't return the phone over this problem, its just a dumb move. The phone is amazing. LG will have a patch for it or someone will make a ROM that tackles the problem.
*end edit*
Hello all,
was wondering if anyone else with the G3 (not sure if it matters, but I have the 851 variant) is having a hard time getting their phone working with the audio jack coming from their car. I drive a 2007 Scion tC and never had any problem of weird issues connecting any of my previous phones (Moto Atrix 4G, LG Nitro HD, GSIII, Nexus 5 just to name a few) to the audio jack in my car. I'll just plug it in and it connects just fine.
But for some odd reason, the G3 is having tons of issues. When I plug in the audio jack to the phone, I see the audio jack icon pop up up top next to the clock, but then some times it will just disappear on its own. Other times, it will stay there, but when I play a media, may it be music, or video from any app, the sound will play out of the speaker on the phone and not the car speakers. Unplugging it while the media is playing and replugging it again will not change anything, but if I stop the media playback, unplug it and then plug it back in, and the icon reappears and then I tap play immediately, the audio will then come out from the car speakers. Some times I have to do this multiple times to finally get it to work.
The strangest thing is, this does not happen if I plug anything else to the G3, such as a headset or an external speaker or any other devices, only in my car. It even works fine in any other car as far as I know. I've tried different audio cables in my car but it still does the same thing, so it doesn't seem to be the cable.
Is there some kind of sensor in the phone that detects connectivity of the phone to another device? I realize that when I plug in the phone to my car, the car speakers makes a couple of whining noises before it goes quiet, sort of sending or receiving a signal from the phone.
Can anybody please help me? I want to say that the phone is defective, but I can't proof so since it works just fine with any other devices. Could it be the head unit in my car is incompatible with the phone? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks bfranklin, I didn't realize there was another thread about it. Wish all the G3 are under the same group.
I noticed i get some crackling feedback when i hit play on a track.. but then it works fine and even with moving the aux jack it doesn't keep cracking... just on initial play/loading of the music player

That was my trick initially but eventually even that didn't work. Someone mentioned to try plugging in a charger first and then plug in the aux cable and that worked. But now I bought a ground loop noise isolator and that has resolved the problem completely. I also don't get so much popping noise and no whining noise when I charge the phone while the car is running. Here's what I bought:

If you use low quality Audio cables like Monster sells it will be higher resistance than a quality cable and should register without issue. The phone struggles with discovering the connection.

I was not saying that. If you use Griffen cable at 14 . or monster cable at 20. Or rocketfish at 18. They all work the same. Just not buying that it is a cable issue. Hardware more like it. I actually just order a eBay cable for .99 cents to prove this totally wrong.
This has nothing to do with cables. I literally tried over 6 different cables and nothing worked between my phone and my car's aux port. Yet I used the same cables in my friend's car (old Nissan sentra) that has an aux port and they all worked fine with the phone. Also used a cassette aux adapter kit in my gf's sister's old SUV and it works fine with it.
This is purely hardware compatibility issue. Some head unit's aux port stays hot at all times, others don't. Some probably reacts faster than others and connects immediately so the phone doesn't drop connectivity before engaging. Again, like I've mentioned, you can either circumvent the issue by using the "charge phone first then plug in aux cable" trick, or simply buy a ground loop isolator adapter which keeps the connection hot. LG will fix the problem eventually. It was an annoyance, but a minor one, and i can't be any happier with this phone despite of the connection issue.
