Just so those who just joined in this converstation don't get too dragged into it, I've resolved this issue simply by buying what is called a ground loop noise isolator adapter. It's main purpose is to remove the static and whining noise you hear from your speakers when you plug your phone to the car charger while connected to the speakers. But at the same time, it is keeping the signal from the aux cable of your car on "hot" so that when you plug in the phone, the phone immediately picks up the aux signal and stays connected. I basically killed two birds with one stone by getting the adapter. Here is the adapter I purchased:

I will make it clear here that this aux connectivity problem has nothing to do with how cheap or expensive your aux cable is. You can use the most expensive cable or the cheapest penny cable out there and if the problem exists between your phone and your car's aux, then it won't resolve it. Either change your car's head unit (which is a stupid thing to do) or simply get the adapter. Don't return the phone over this problem, its just a dumb move. The phone is amazing. LG will have a patch for it or someone will make a ROM that tackles the problem.

was wondering if anyone else with the G3 (not sure if it matters, but I have the 851 variant) is having a hard time getting their phone working with the audio jack coming from their car. I drive a 2007 Scion tC and never had any problem of weird issues connecting any of my previous phones (Moto Atrix 4G, LG Nitro HD, GSIII, Nexus 5 just to name a few) to the audio jack in my car. I'll just plug it in and it connects just fine.
But for some odd reason, the G3 is having tons of issues. When I plug in the audio jack to the phone, I see the audio jack icon pop up up top next to the clock, but then some times it will just disappear on its own. Other times, it will stay there, but when I play a media, may it be music, or video from any app, the sound will play out of the speaker on the phone and not the car speakers. Unplugging it while the media is playing and replugging it again will not change anything, but if I stop the media playback, unplug it and then plug it back in, and the icon reappears and then I tap play immediately, the audio will then come out from the car speakers. Some times I have to do this multiple times to finally get it to work.
The strangest thing is, this does not happen if I plug anything else to the G3, such as a headset or an external speaker or any other devices, only in my car. It even works fine in any other car as far as I know. I've tried different audio cables in my car but it still does the same thing, so it doesn't seem to be the cable.
Is there some kind of sensor in the phone that detects connectivity of the phone to another device? I realize that when I plug in the phone to my car, the car speakers makes a couple of whining noises before it goes quiet, sort of sending or receiving a signal from the phone.
Can anybody please help me? I want to say that the phone is defective, but I can't proof so since it works just fine with any other devices. Could it be the head unit in my car is incompatible with the phone? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks bfranklin, I didn't realize there was another thread about it. Wish all the G3 are under the same group.
I noticed i get some crackling feedback when i hit play on a track.. but then it works fine and even with moving the aux jack it doesn't keep cracking... just on initial play/loading of the music player
I have to plug the cable in very slow or it won't work.

That was my trick initially but eventually even that didn't work. Someone mentioned to try plugging in a charger first and then plug in the aux cable and that worked. But now I bought a ground loop noise isolator and that has resolved the problem completely. I also don't get so much popping noise and no whining noise when I charge the phone while the car is running. Here's what I bought:

If you use low quality Audio cables like Monster sells it will be higher resistance than a quality cable and should register without issue. The phone struggles with discovering the connection.

I'm gonna disagree here bc I'm using a cable from a Wal-Mart discount bin, which is I'm thinking the cheapest kind available, and it doesn't work right.

I was not saying that. If you use Griffen cable at 14 . or monster cable at 20. Or rocketfish at 18. They all work the same. Just not buying that it is a cable issue. Hardware more like it. I actually just order a eBay cable for .99 cents to prove this totally wrong.
This has nothing to do with cables. I literally tried over 6 different cables and nothing worked between my phone and my car's aux port. Yet I used the same cables in my friend's car (old Nissan sentra) that has an aux port and they all worked fine with the phone. Also used a cassette aux adapter kit in my gf's sister's old SUV and it works fine with it.
This is purely hardware compatibility issue. Some head unit's aux port stays hot at all times, others don't. Some probably reacts faster than others and connects immediately so the phone doesn't drop connectivity before engaging. Again, like I've mentioned, you can either circumvent the issue by using the "charge phone first then plug in aux cable" trick, or simply buy a ground loop isolator adapter which keeps the connection hot. LG will fix the problem eventually. It was an annoyance, but a minor one, and i can't be any happier with this phone despite of the connection issue.

No problem here with g3 and my tuscan aux in. I do run soundabout pro and set headset output to wired...

I think that adapter would work perfectly as long as you have the appropriate input. But a side of me can't help but want to direct you to something I posted in a different thread. I know a lot of people don't mind spending money on things as long as they work, but hey, might as well share, right?

What I think I forgot to add was, any bluetooth receiver with an audio output will work for you. Even (especially) the ones that are made for headphones. They usually just have an amp built into them, so if you leave it at one setting, it will function the same as the one you linked to. The point I was basically trying to make was, the headphone adapters are usually much cheaper that ones "made" for a car.
the only problem i see with any bluetooth adapter, is the need to charge it. I ended up taking my Sony CDX-GT320 out, and putting in a new Sony BT-2800. Only tried it for 10 minutes tonight, but I LOVE IT. No adapters, nothing, it's all built in. I took the FIPO adapter and a ipod cable, tried to see if the kenwoods would play it, no dice however the Kenwoods did at least power up the blue light and I could get it to sync with my phone.

Did you make sure to turn the volume up on the phone. Volume control when connected via A2DP is controlled by the phone. My evo is always set to mute when I connect it to my FIPO, aside from that it works awesomely.
Naw on my Sony deck would just read no device when paired with the fipo

I use the phone as my media player in the car. When I plugged it in to the AUX on the car stereo AND it is on the charger there is a buzzing and whining sound. This was almost an instant return. However it seems to be that it is only in that condition if the phone is not outputting any sound. Once I engaged GPS, or MP3s the buzzing sound goes away (not quite but actually gone). I need to test more for long pauses in between navigation prompts, but it seems to be ok as long as some app is planning to make a sound to the headphone port. Maybe a power saving feature?
I never had this with my EVO, my Wife's Epic 4G, or any other phone I have owned.

I experienced the same phenomenon on an LG g2x. Only would buzz when NOT playing sound.
EDIT: not in a car, this was on an A/C adaptor at home.

the noise you are hearing is from the alternator of your car.( the whinning) go in your car hook up your phone and charger and give it some gas, you will hear what i mean. there is nothing wrong with your car or phone, its actually something that is rather common, so dont worry. you can buy a '' 3.5mm ground loop isolator to hook up and it should take that sound away.

the phone isnt grounded very well, and will cause some noise issues
and the headphone output really isnt that strong in comparison to the evo series, imo

What receiver are you using? I tried the C3, but when it was fully charged fro some reason the sound goes to crap.
Here is a video of the noise. Note the car is NOT running. All the noise you hear comes from the stereo aux and phone. When I plug in my EVO, or the wife's Epic 4G there is NONE of this.

It really freaks when panning and zooming.
I read this post this AM and decided to do my own testing. I used a Monster Cable 3, a generic Radio Shack cable, and something I found in a parking lot for the AUX, and 3 different car chargers and 2 different ones for the AC tests. I also tested with the music app, navigation, and no apps.
The results:
no apps - popping noises no matter what combination of cables or chargers I used
Music - popping noises when not playing music no matter what combination of cables or chargers I used
Navigation - popping noises when not navigation nowmatter what combination of cables or chargers I used
It seems that if you have something generating sound the popping sounds are gone (or at least mutted to the point where I didn't hear them). Otherwise, you get all sorts of odd noises as reported by other posters.
The car chargers were a BB charger, an iGo charger, and a Motorola charger and the test was repeated with both the engine running and just in AC mode (to keep the chargers active). The AC chargers were the out of box charger and my BB rapid charger.
I also repeated the tests with my wife's Evo and my old BlackBerry tour. Nether of those phones exhibited the same issue although both picked up some minor alternator whine when I was driving.

I can't tell what truck you got splashing through the puddle in your profile, but I am driving (having this issue) in a Nissan Frontier. I too tried several cables and chargers always with the same result. I even ran power from my Motor Cycle and Audio to the Truck AUX and still had noise.
So then I tested this in my wife's car (Chrysler Sebring) and the noise is not there, gone nada. WTH?
I took advice from someone else on this thread and hooked up a Bluetooth receiver to the aux and that works fine.
My conclusion is it must be something between my Nissan Aux and this phone when connected directly.
I'm looking for the best way to do this, so I figured you guys would be able to throw some ideas around. Basically, I'm looking for a way to transmit audio to my car stereo, wireless. I currently use an audio cord (3.5 to 3.5) and just have the cord running through my car. It would be awesome to have it all be completely wireless, but I'm not sure what the best route would be to do this and still maintain the sound quality of the cord. I've used the FM transmitters in the past, but they always seem to be a hit and miss. Is there anything else I can use to do this?
Invest in a unit with bluetooth.

The phone can stay in my pocket and when I press the button on the Belkin it connects to the phone and starts my music.
I have an aux port and i just connect it to this BluBridge MiniJack and it works great. You can't really notice much change in sound quality. My car's factory bluetooth for the phone still works too. Both can be connected at one time without any interference.

$5 fm transmitter from the Family Dollar works great for me. I never have any problems as long as the transmitter is with 10 feet.

The BluBridge has an internal battery that is charged via mini USB. You can plug it into your any universal USB charger and it works. I have one for my cigarette litgher and it can charge continuously while I use it. I've seen some out there that cannot charge while in use. This one can.

Thank you. I'll probably go with that one then, since it is so much cheaper. There isn't much sense in spending that much more money on virtually the same product, I just wanted to make sure that it didn't run on batteries that I had to replace weekly. That would get old in a hurry.

mainly because in addition to music and GPS navaigation i also need it for handsfree calling since Belkin lets you to pick calls and also activate voice command or play pause and skip music tracks with just a touch of a button which is very important for me.

I have an old Motorola bluetooth headset that you had to plug headphones in to use this this came out b4 bluetooth headsets were big its works great plugged into my bose 321 system plug one end 3.5 mm and the other end is rca works almost throughout my two bedroom apartment hope this helps

Search eBay or amazon. I have one from miccus that I use in my range rover. No issues. If I'm streaming music via Bluetooth and a call comes in, it hands over the call to the factory Bluetooth radio. Once calls are over, it automatically switches back to music.

this is what ive been using. routes both music and phone calls through speakers. just had to get a cable to go from this to the aux in on my stereo. charges with the same type of cable as phone and a full charge lasts quite a while.

It's very small, and you can use it without the power cable to reduce clutter. The battery lasts ~6 hours. Sound quality is good, but it won't turn on automatically when you start the car.

Maybe this advice wont help you a lot, but IMO this partial solutions wont get you completely satisfied. I already tried it and finally I decided to replace my OEM stereo with one from Kenwood with built-in BT from Parrot and I could not make a better decision...

I have the parrot mki9200 and the org. Ford Radio , works like a charm.
But if your radio allready have bt (headset) , you might only need to change the multimedia box to support ad2p

Ok I'm assuming you want it for your HTC One. Because, HTC One has Apt-x compatible bluetooth 4.0 and that is a god bless. Even iphone 5 doesn't have it. But, you need to have an apt-x compatible device at the other end too so that you'll fully utilize this cd quality sound option.
Simply put; what you'll search for is an apt-x receiver. Try Avantree Cara, Kinivo BTC450 or HTC Stereo Clip (A200). They all are aptx compatible and with the HTC One they sound beautiful. BTW HTC Stereo clip only streams music.
I've chosen Avantree because it had better reviews.
Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. A2DP is old news.
I'm using Sony mw600 for a long time for car and for biking. Recommended!

I like that one from the Amazon link that doubles as a hands free calling adapter as well. I had no idea these things existed. Im going to follow the thread a bit more and do some research into them. I am VERY interested in using this method. Coming over from an iPhone I miss the single cable to control and charge my phone through my stereo in the truck. I didnt think of that when I was getting my Android phone. I guess I assumed that the USB cable would work like it does on the iPhone once I plug it into the USB port on my stereo.

I've been using this one in my car, very nice, audio quality is good thanks to being able to handle aptX. The dongle has an onboard microphone that you can use for calls, and also has two buttons at the top for previous/next track when playing music. Overall, pretty nice.

I have two issues with this particular bluetooth adapter. The first is that it only remembers one device pairing, so you'd have to go through the whole pairing process if you wanted to use other devices with it. The second was that in my car, I experienced a ground loop buzzing. I can't really explain to you what the phenomenon is, and it doesn't happen in everyone's car, but I ended up getting one of these which successfully got rid of the buzzing. You plug this thing in between the bluetooth adapter and your AUX port.

I actually have used both the Kinivo BTC450 and the Belkin one linked by evancg, here is my comparison of the two:
Belkin Bluetooth Car Hands-Free Kit
Worse audio quality than the Kinivo.
Magnetically attaches to a self-adhesive disc that you stick on your car, so you can stow away the dongle if you want.
Only one large, single button to answer calls or start/stop music.
Can remember more than one device pairing.
Kinivo BTC450
Better audio quality than the Belkin due to aptX.
The dongle has a self-adhesive back so it's stuck directly on your car.
Has a large face button for answering calls and starting/stopping music, and also two dedicated buttons on top for previous/next track.
Can only remember one device pairing, so it's inconvenient if you're using more than one device with the Kinivo.
Overall, I like the Kinivo over the Belkin because the audio quality is better on the Kinivo, and it also has previous/next track buttons, so I can change tracks without having to reach for my phone. I only wish the Kinivo could remember at least two or three device pairings, though, since I also have an iPod, iPad, and a few other phones in my household.
I have the Kinivo BTC450. I drive a lot for work, and it is great! No problems at all, some say you may need a ground loop isolator, but I didnt. Calls are clear on both ends, and audio quality IMO is on par with hardwired.

Hi,
I've got a very strange and annoying problem. I've got a Nexus 5X and a 2008 BMW Z4 3.0si Roadster with a removable 3.5mm audio cable.
I've tried my Nexus 5X with 3 different cable on a lot of other car, hifi stereo and earphone and it always works (the sound go to the other device the way it should work).
I've tried 5 different phones on my BMW and the sound go to the Z4 speaker the right way.
But when I try to connect my Nexus to the BMW 9 times out of 10 the phone doesn't recognize it and continue to play the sound on the phone speakers. The strangest thing is after that half the time when I remove the cable from the car but keep it on the phone it recognize the cable and stop playing music on phone speakers. At this time I can connect it again to my BMW and then the sound go to the car speaker.
I can't understand anything about this problem and it's driving me a little bit crazy. Sadly no Bluetooth on my lovely Z4.
Anyone as an idea ?

Did you try pressing really hard on the plug? It is a very tight fit to the point you feel like you might be breaking the port, but it loosens over time.

Yeah of course otherwise it wouldn't work on my hifi stereo because I use the same cable.

The reason I ask is it still works if not plugged in all the way, just the connection is not that reliable. Quite a few people though they had it plugged in all the way and they were getting sound, but sometimes sound would switch back to the phone. It turned out they really needed to push in the cable really hard.
Does it work if you start the music after plugging in the phone? That's how I have to do it in my POS Dodge work truck.

Nope and it makes no change if I plug it before or after the music start playing.
It looks like my BMW send to much power and the phone try to protect itself or some kind of witchcraft like that...
